Spencer does a lot of different things to stay in shape. She shared some of her wellness secrets in an interview with Parade. Spencer says that her workouts are dependent on the seasons and weather. “I turn to yoga, preferably in a warm room, during the cold months,” Spencer revealed. “I do yoga year round but find myself craving it more in the fall and winter.”

3. She Believes In Moderation

Spencer also talked about her diet to Parade. “I eat what I want, in moderation,” she said. “I gravitate toward fresh veggies and clean foods, thankfully, but I am also a sucker for a cupcake every once in a while. I make sure to eat lots of kale, broccoli, blueberries, strawberries and spinach. We do enough stories on superfoods on GMA. I know what I should be eating, and I really try to stick with that.”

Spencer is a big fan of tennis. She tells Parade, “I play tennis year round. I am on a USTA team and just got bumped up to a 4.0 rating so I am really excited. As a former athlete, I love the competition. I play both singles and doubles and would play every day if I could! I wish I had known about tennis as a kid. Unlike platform diving, it's a sport I can play for the rest of my life.”

5. She Worked Hard After Surgery

“I love sports, I love being active, I love challenging myself,” Spencer told ABC. “I was a jock growing up from the time I could walk.” So she was shattered when told she needed a hip replacement. “It was so upsetting,” Spencer said. “I waited for a long time before I did anything about it or told anyone because it sounds like it’s an old person’s problem and I just couldn't believe it.” "It was embarrassing to share and then I realized there is nothing to be embarrassed about," she said. "I have a genetic predisposition for this but if you're athletic and you move, it's happening younger and younger." After the surgery, she said she’s “feeling great.”

Any kind of cardio is great for you. “The idea of boosting intensity—which can result in greater improvements in cardiorespiratory fitness—is important not only if you're an athlete but also if you're an average, everyday [person] looking to maintain a higher quality of life,” says Martin Gibala, Ph.D., a professor of kinesiology at Canada’s McMaster University. “For a higher health span, not just lifespan. We need to worry about health span, and that's basically optimal physical activity in order to maintain your health.”

Speegle makes sure to recover. One thing she likes to do is cold plunges. Speegle shared this video of herself jumping into a tub. According to The Mayo Clinic, these have a lot of benefits. “Research on cold-water immersion has found evidence that it helps reduce the degree of exercise-induced muscle damage that can occur after physically challenging activities. Less damage leads to less inflammation, which in turn reduces soreness and helps restore physical performance the next day. These benefits may be the result of rapid constriction of the blood vessels due to the cold water. Last year, Malik gave fans a look at her workout routine in an Instagram video, where she powered through hanging crunches, lunges, and weightlifting sessions. She Lifts Weights

Malik is seen doing a lot of weight lifting in her Instagram video. ACE Fitness says that lunges are a form of unilateral training, and that makes them effective. “Unilateral training is a more effective way to build functional strength (than using both legs) because these types of movement mimic other everyday motions, like walking and climbing stairs — and not just to the working leg. Research suggests the strength gains to the nonworking side are about half of the strength gains of the working side.”

She Does Core Workouts

Malik is seen doing core workouts, like hanging crunches in her Instagram video. Core workouts are extremely important. The Mayo Clinic says, “While it takes aerobic activity to burn fat in your stomach, core exercises can strengthen and tone the underlying muscles. Strong core muscles make it easier to do many activities. When your core muscles are strong, it's easier to swing a golf club, get a glass from the top shelf and bend down to tie your shoes.”
