Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry is true Hollywood royalty. She kickstarted her acting career after becoming the first runner up in the Miss USA pageant in 1986, which makes perfect sense, as she's drop-dead gorgeous. Halle also has an enviable physique. What exactly does the actress do to stay fit in her 50s? We have her go-to workout habits to share. After all, a killer bod calls for a killer workout regimen!

She Lifts Weights

Halle finds this stage of her workouts to be a bit "boring," but essential, since a gal's got to do what a gal's got to do to stay in great shape. She shared on The Tamsen Show her go-to workout, saying, "Now, I do no cardio. I'm trying to put muscle mass on, so I lift weights now, and I never used to lift weights before; I only did my own body weight and cardio and cycling and running. Now, I just do, pretty much, what I find boring, but it's necessary for this stage of life—really, just heavier weights than I've ever lifted, and I do it probably two days more a week than I used to.

She Wants To Maintain Muscle Mass

Halle discussed her desire to preserve muscle mass as well.

"I never wanted to get muscly … I wanted to just stay healthy," she said. "I was doing it to manage my diabetes, but I didn't want to be muscly. And now I'm lifting heavy weights and I'm still not getting muscly. I'm just kind of holding on to the muscle I have and that's important at this age."

She Follows The Keto Diet

Halle has diabetes and previously told Women's Health that she follows the keto diet as a means to manage it.

"I wanted to get off of insulin, so I decided to say goodbye to processed carbs and sugar like baked goods and white bread—and it has seriously paid off," she said. "For more than 15 years, eating this way has helped me manage my diabetes—but it's also given me a ton of energy and helped me maintain my weight and stay in shape."

She Works With A Trainer

Halle has worked with trainer Peter Lee Thomas to keep herself in top shape. Peter opened up about working with the actress to PEOPLE, explaining, "I had no idea what her age was when I met her. I never looked or was interested in that and when I found out I was absolutely shellshocked because she has the discipline and athleticism of a 25-year old."

She Does a Variety of Workouts

Halle's workout routine is all about variety.

"She never truly understands what's going to happen for that morning, for that day," Peter told the outlet. "I bring a constellation of things. That, in itself, is quite challenging because she has to be ready almost on improv. It can break a lot of people, who don't see the workout the day prior."
