Christina Aguilera has been called the "Voice of a Generation" and one of the greatest singers of all time. She appeared on The All-New Mickey Mouse Club and recorded "Reflection" for Disney's Mulan in 1998. The following year, the singer released her debut album, which included "Genie in a Bottle," "Come On Over," and "What a Girl Wants." Aguilera won Best New Artist at the Grammys for her debut. She then went on to release iconic albums like Stripped and Back to Basics. In 2009, the singer made the cut for Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time; she was the only artist under 30 years of age at the time to receive a spot.

Christina Aguilera is known for her impressive figure and notably shed 40 pounds. Here are some of the diet and fitness habits that helped the five-time Grammy winner lose weight.

1. She Followed the Rainbow Diet

The "Beautiful" singer reportedly followed the Rainbow Diet, or 7-Day Color Diet, for a window of time, where each day meant consuming a different color of food. The colors include—in the order in which you're supposed to eat them—white, red, green, orange, purple, yellow, and rainbow.

According to SheFinds, Aguilera also implemented calorie restriction, cutting down her daily intake to 1600.

In 2020, the star revealed that she wasn't following a specific diet anymore and simply tried to implement more whole foods into her life.

2. She Did Strength Training

Aguilera previously worked with personal trainer Tee Sorge, who told Glamour that the celeb lifts weights.

"Christina does biceps curls with 15-pound dumbbells and chest presses with 20-pounders," Sorge told the outlet. "She knows they're not going to bulk her up. What they will do is help build lean muscle that kicks up your metabolism and make your body burn more calories each day—so you'll lose weight faster."

Aguilera made sure to take a well-balanced approach to her fitness regimen, blending strength training with cardio.

"I throw in a minute or two of jumping rope, stair climbing or boxing after every few toning moves, Christina does to keep her heart rate up and really maximize the number of calories she burns," Sorge said.

4. She Did Interval Training

The singer didn't sleep on interval training, either. Sorge told Glamour that Aguilera did jog-sprint-walk drills to bump up her cardio intensity.

"Christina slowly jogs for five minutes on flat ground, sprints for three to five minutes, and then does a slow uphill walk for the remainder of the workout," Sorge explained. "It's amazingly effective at making your body really lean."

5. She Worked Her Abs

Aguilera has an amazing six-pack, and she does plenty of core work to keep it that way. The singer apparently did 300 to 400 reps of different core exercises during her sessions with Sorge.

"Your core is your body's center, its foundation," Sorge said. "If you're strong there, you're going to be strong and healthy, period."
