The actress and singer turned 56, and still looks the same way she did in her Let's Get Loud Video

Happy birthday Jennifer Lopez! The singer and actress turned 56 this week. However, you wouldn’t be able to tell that Jennifer’s in her mid-50s from looking at her. Jennifer seemingly hasn’t aged in decades, and many people wonder how she does it. Jennifer credits it to consistent exercise like HIIT, and consistent self-care. Here are 6 of Jennifer Lopez’s secrets to maintaining her bikini body.

She’s Consistent

Jennifer has a busy schedule, however, she always makes time to workout. She tells Marie Claire that this is one of her biggest wellness secrets. “Make time for workouts to stay energized and find a moment to relax and recharge—even if it’s just a really quick mindful breathing meditation.”

She Works With A Trainer

Jennifer works with several trainers to keep herself in shape. One of them, Jay Cardiello, talked about working with her to The New York Post. “When I worked with J.Lo, the focus wasn’t just about aesthetics — it was about building functional strength, core stability and total-body conditioning, all of which naturally led to the defined, powerful abs she’s known for.”

She Works Her Core

Jennifer has amazing abs, so she naturally does a lot of core workouts. Jay tells The New York Post that he had Jennifer do a specific kind of core training. “One of the key things I implemented was multi-planar core training. Rather than isolating the abs with just crunches, we used exercises that engaged her entire core — front, sides and back — while incorporating balance and controlled movement.”

Another type of workout that Jennifer likes to do is high-intensity interval training. “I made sure her workouts included high-intensity interval training (HIIT) blended with strength circuits,” Jay said to The New York Post. “Which kept her heart rate elevated, torched calories and maintained lean muscle — all essential for keeping body fat low and abs visible.”

She Checks In With Herself

Jennifer is all about wellness and self-care. She tells People that she makes sure to have regular check-ins with herself to see what she needs to do at the moment. “I always feel like, OK, if I’m feeling too tired, what am I neglecting? Am I neglecting my sleep? Am I not working out consistently? Have I let that go? Do I need to get back on that? Whatever it is, or am I not drinking enough water? Why do I feel this way? If something’s off, just check the basics, and for me that that always works.”

She Eats A Lot Of Lean-Protein

Jennifer’s abs aren’t just because of working out, but also because of her diet. Jay tells The New York Post that the singer loves lean protein. “I advise increasing lean protein intake to preserve muscle mass and support recovery, while being mindful of overall calorie balance. Also, keeping processed carbs and sugars low is essential to manage insulin sensitivity, which can change with age and contribute to midsection fat.”
