The Surprising Habits That Keep Margot Robbie, 34, Fit

Margot Robbie recently graced the internet in a stunning off-the-shoulder, waist-hugging wedding gown while filming upcoming flick, Wuthering Heights. The Australian actress has channeled many iconic characters, including Harley Quinn in the DC Universe movies and Barbie in the hit film Barbie. She also received an Oscar nomination for each of her roles as Tonya Harding in I, Tonya and Kayla Pospisil in Bombshell. 

It's no secret that 34-year-old Margot has an impressive physique and never ceases to look stunning on and offscreen. Here are Margot Robbie's diet and exercise secrets that keep her skin glowing and body in excellent shape. Some of them may surprise you!

1. She Doesn't Follow a Strict Diet

When it comes to her diet, Robbie told Emirates Woman that she doesn't restrict herself and still enjoys the foods she loves most.

"I'm not good at doing moderation. I get miserable if I don't eat. I can't just have a salad every day and a half a glass of wine every second day. I can't do it," The Wolf of Wall Street star shared. "I don't have a very good diet. I love beer, fries, burgers, but if I have to get in a bikini then I'll eat carrot sticks for three days. I'm one extreme or the other."

2. She Learned How to Ice Skate

In order to play Tonya Harding in I, Tonya, Robbie learned how to ice skate, which is a great full-body workout.

"[I did] as much as we could possibly do before production started," the celeb previously shared with mybody+Soul. "I think I did about three or four months of skating, like five times a week for a couple of hours a day. Even if I had 10 years to practice, I could never do a triple axel."

Fun fact? Robbie loves ice hockey and played it for fun. "I'd always wanted to play when I was a kid, but I grew up in the Gold Coast, which is a super tropical place in Australia, and there was no ice hockey so I played field hockey instead," she told W Magazine. "Then when I moved to America, I joined a league but I didn't know how to ice skate. I just basically ran around on the ice, but I had so much padding on that it didn't really matter."

3. She Lifts Weights and Does Pilates

The star shared the additional workouts she did for I, Tonya with mybody+soul.

"I spent a lot of time in the gym, trying to build muscle mass for I, Tonya … weights, mostly, and lots of sit-ups," she said. "It's all the stuff you know you're meant to do, but just can never be bothered to do, although ice-skating itself was a huge part of it."

In addition to weight lifting, Margot does reformer Pilates. Her personal trainer, David Higgins, told Women's Health that the actress has "always had a very healthy approach to exercise."

She's also consistent. Higgins added, "Margot and I have trained together on and off for years. Our Barbie schedule lasted around 12 to 15 weeks."

4. She Drank Organic Milk Thistle Tea for Barbie

In order to channel Barbie, Margot worked with skin professional Jasmina Vico to achieve a radiant glow. Rico revealed to Harper's Bazaar that she had the actress drink organic milk thistle tea for her skin.

"It helps with flushing the liver which makes the skin better because it produces more glutathione which helps with luminosity and brightness," she explained. "They [the Barbies] were all having that tea."

5. She Eats Fermented Foods

Another secret from Vico? The expert revealed that Margot consumed plenty of fermented foods for Barbie.

"[She] was also eating fermented foods like sauerkraut, kimchi, and kefir, all kinds of bitter foods, and berries," Vico told Harper's Bazaar, adding that fermented foods help decrease stress in the body and promote healing.
