In 2020, Amy revealed to the public that she had lost weight after contracting Lyme disease. "For me, I was diagnosed with Lyme earlier this year, and I definitely lost a couple of LBs," she said in a video chat with model Hunter McGrady for Yahoo Life. “And people's reaction of like, 'You're losing weight,' you know, like they're congratulating you. And I'm like, it's really just about my health. I don't know if I lose or gain weight." She also had endometriosis and underwent a hysterectomy.

5. She Is Open About Her Plastic Surgery

Earlier this year, Amy revealed to her Instagram followers that she had gone under the knife, getting liposuction. During an interview with Making Space with Hoda Kotb podcast she explained why she decided to do it. "I was just like in a weird moment after having a hysterectomy and I’m like you know what, I have the time right now," she said. "I tried CoolSculpting and I didn’t personally have any results from that. And I’ve tried everything else and you know, having a C-section and the kind of endometriosis I have, things around the midsection … I’ve been uncomfortable, like physically uncomfortable.” She added that if she was willing "to basically give myself frostbite" she should try the real deal. "I did it and it worked," she said about liposuction. "And I feel a lot better about myself, so I wanted to share with people just because I can’t lie about myself. I can’t do it."

1. Being Open About Her Body Image Issues

Amelia opened up about her eating disorder to Glamour. “When I first started struggling with anorexia, I loved when friends would comment on my weight. I have a distinct memory of running into a friend at the mall, right outside Victoria’s Secret. She put her hand on my waist and was like, ‘Oh, my God, Amelia, you’re so skinny, you need to stop!” I loved those comments. They felt amazing, as psycho as that sounds. It was this feeling that fed my eating disorder,” she said.

2. Treating Her Autoimmune Disorder

Amelia also has to treat an autoimmune disorder. “In the wake of my anorexia, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease, an autoimmune disease that screws with your thyroid,” she also told Glamour. “My body was reacting to being starved for so long. With Hashimoto's I’m going to have to take two pills every single morning as soon as I wake up, maybe for the rest of my life. Obviously that’s not the worst thing in the world, but it’s hard knowing I did this to myself.”

3. Feeding Her Body Nutrients

“All of this has made it so important to me to nourish my body. I used to hear all the time, ‘Your body is a temple!’ but I really didn’t care. I didn’t care how many nutrients my body was getting,” she told Glamour. “Learning about how to nourish my body and how to fuel my body with the foods that make my body happy and energized makes me feel good. Despite all the bullshit and the hard parts of recovery, that’s been a really fascinating part of this journey: I’ve come out of it with such a different passion for health.”

4. Finding Inspiration From Her Mom

“She’s the reason I am who I am. I am so lucky that that is the woman that raised me,” Amelia told People about how her famous mom has influenced her. “To be exposed at such a young age to unapologetically love yourself with zero shame has just made me who I am today.”

5. Strength Training

Cardio, I’ll do maybe three times a week. When I was in Puerto Rico, I’d run outside because it gave me a nice view to be outdoors and running in between palm trees. I haven’t done Muay Thai in over a year now, and I’m starting to miss it. I believe a girl should always be able to throw a good punch. It’s a good self-defense.”

I would work out, but I would also have my teacher come to my place so I could do pilates at home. I gave birth end of July and then I had the Victoria’s Secret show in November, four months later, so I started around the beginning of October because you can’t start too early because of your abs and you have to be careful. I was doing exercises from October, and did a lot with LA Beautiful in New York and mixed in pilates and biking.”

I felt so cool because I could take off one hand. That’s my earliest memory of skiing, but I’ve been doing it as long as I can remember. It’s my favorite.” How does it help her achieve her amazing body? “It’s a lot of upper body strength, it’s balance, it’s core, it’s legs—you get tired really fast,” she says. “I see such a change in my body after an entire summer of [skiing].
