Maya Nassar, a well-known fitness influencer and bikini fitness competitor, recently opened up about her journey with weight loss and mental health on Instagram. In a heartfelt post, she shared her experiences of overcoming anxiety and depression, emphasizing the importance of enjoying life without putting pressure on oneself to achieve a certain body size. Nassar encouraged her followers to seek help if they are struggling, and to focus on feeling happy and confident rather than obsessing over weight loss.

1. She Doesn’t Pressure Herself

Nassar shared some of her pieces of advice in her Instagram post. One of them was to not pressure themselves to be a certain size. “My message to my followers is: don’t put pressure to be a certain size or obsess over your body. You can still be happy, healthy and fulfilled with the body you have. Wear a swimsuit at the beach or at pool parties and be proud of who you are. Your weight will never define you, your success or your values.”

2. She Asked For Help

Nassar also promoted asking for help if you are struggling with your mental health in her Instagram caption. “If you are struggling with your mental health, ASK for help. 90% of people who ask for professional help start feeling better. Struggling with anxiety or depression is not shameful or a sign of weakness. It’s not your fault and you’re not a failure. You have it in you to overcome it! Let’s normalize this.”

3. Subhead Goes Right Here

Nassar loves to swim to stay in shape. She shares a lot of posts on Instagram of herself enjoying time in the water. Nassar shared this video of herself getting out of the pool. She captioned the post, “10 kgs since March 2024.. more to go and competing next year in bikini fitness after having 4 kids in 4.5 years 👙💪

4. She Worked Out While Pregnant

Nassar made sure to workout when she was pregnant. She shared this video of herself doing certain workouts on Instagram. Nassar captioned the post, “Make sure you get medical clearance from your doctor before doing any exercise. You can benefit from my holistic pregnancy guide to have a smooth and beautiful pregnancy journey. What’s included? 1- workouts for every month of pregnancy. 2- diet plans for every trimester (with vegetarian options). 3- what to expect every week of pregnancy. 4- medical skincare guide + beauty guide. 5- stretching guide. 6- nutrition info (what to eat and avoid). 7- exercise info (what sports to avoid). 8- plus more! All the information is FULLY ENDORSED by a gynecologist!”

5. She Didn’t Over-Exert Herself

Nassar revealed in her Instagram post that she made sure to not over-exert herself, and that helped her lose weight and be consistent. “The LAST thing I wanted to do is to be on a diet and train severely to lose weight. I enjoyed every second of going out, eating food I wanted and training to feel happy and confident, not to lose weight. During this time, I discovered that your body has nothing to do with your mental health. I hadn’t lost any weight and was much heavier than usual, but I was feeling great on the inside and living life to the fullest.”
