Isla Dawn is a professional wrestler. She currently performs with WWE and is one half of The Unholy Union, with Alba Fyre. Dawn and Fyre won the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship and the WWE Tag Team Championship, being the only team to win both. Dawn shared a photo of herself in the gym on Instagram. In it, she wore black workout clothes.


She Strength Trains

Dawn likes to lift weights to keep herself in shape. She talked about this in an interview withThe Mirror. "I do a lot of powerlifting training, I kickbox a lot and I like being strong. I don’t just want to be strong looking, I want to BE strong.” Strength training has a lot of health benefits. The Mayo Clinic states, “Your body fat percentage will increase over time if you don't do anything to replace the lean muscle you lose over time. Strength training can help you preserve and enhance your muscle mass at any age.”

She Kickboxes

Dawn also says in her Mirror interview that she likes to kickbox to stay in shape. Boxing workouts have a lot of benefits. The Cleveland Clinic says, “The conditioning exercises in fitness boxing classes also use a whole-body approach. You’ll tone muscles you never knew you had! The calories you burn during boxing can help you maintain or achieve a healthy weight.”

She's Comfortable With Herself

Dawn is all about being comfortable with herself. She tells Soundsphere that she wants to inspire others to have the same attitude. “I would like to think if I am kind of an example of… not even overcoming a lot of those things, but standing with whatever issues like body image, mental health and stuff like that. It’s being happy with who you are, and trying to work through things and always trying to evolve and heal and recover, and feel better.”

She's Motivated By Happiness

Dawn tells Soundsphere that her main motivation in life is happiness. “Success to me is happiness, 100%, I have been at points where I’ve been doing well and had a good income coming in, but I wasn’t happy, and that for me wasn’t being successful. I’m so happy and fulfilled in everything that I’m doing and that for me is a success, that for me is where I feel at my most successful because I’m thoroughly enjoying everything I’m doing.”

She's Consistent

Dawn makes sure to be consistent with her fitness. She tells Soundsphere that she made sure to workout when the COVID-19 lockdowns were happening. “I was just desperate to get back in the ring and desperate to train again. There had to be a lot of like forcing myself to be motivated when gyms were closed, and if they were shut, I was having to do workouts in my back garden, trying to motivate myself through that while like everyone in my house is like ‘I’m watching TV’ and I’m like, ‘I need to go out’.”

"For me, a lot of people have said, 'Oh I love how comfortable she is and she doesn't look like the beauty standard.' It's a backhanded compliment sometimes because people will be like, 'I'm so glad she's confident that she doesn't look perfect,'" she continued in the interview. Consider interval training. “Interval training is simply alternating short bursts (about 30 seconds) of intense activity with longer intervals (about 1 to 2 minutes) of less intense activity,” says the Mayo Clinic. “For instance, if your exercise is walking and you're in good shape, you might add short bursts of jogging into your regular brisk walks. If you're less fit, you might alternate leisurely walking with periods of faster walking. For example, if you're walking outdoors, you could walk faster between certain mailboxes, trees or other landmarks.”

I was furious that I felt weak. I was jealous of people who have no pain at all during their periods. I got in the car to try take myself home, having to stop along the way from pain. I am grateful to have a period as some women with endo don’t have the choice of having a period and falling pregnant. I was grateful that my body allows me to train so hard on an average day. I was grateful that my body held off until after my launch to have this pain and period. I was grateful to afford medication and heat packs, as some people can not. Furthermore, I was grateful that my body, despite any pain it may go through, still bounces back."
