“Gratitude to this beautiful place we call home."

Ivanka Trump is celebrating Earth Day in her workout gear. In a new post the former First Daughter flaunts her incredible figure in exercise clothes as she goes for a hike in nature. "Gratitude to this beautiful place we call home. Happy Earth Day!" she captioned the post. How does the 42-year-old approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Protein-Rich Diet

Prior to getting pregnant, Ivanka "ate like a teenager…carbs three times a day usually in the form of pasta or pizza," the former First Daughter told Eat This, Not That! She claims that she boosts her metabolism by making healthy choices and eating whole foods. "For me, at the end of the day, exercise is more about how I physically feel and it's giving me clarity of mind and diet has more of a direct impact on my actual weight," she told People. She tries to eat a lot of protein – like salmon – with her meals, she added to ETNT. She also shies away from processed foods and carbs.

Running

"I like to run with my husband [Jared Kushner]," Ivanka says. "It's something we started doing around a year and a half ago when my team at my fashion brand all decided collectively we would train for a half marathon. I had never run like a half mile in my life, so this was a very daunting experience." According to the Mayo Clinic, running is great for cardiovascular health, muscle building, and weight loss. "For every mile run, the average person will burn approximately 100 calories," they say.

Ivanka also stays in shape by strength training. "When I'm in town, I like to work out at the gym in my building. My trainer, Peter Monge, put together a workout program for me — he also put together a similar program exclusively for my readers that I do with him once a week. The other days, I go through it on my own and in the hotel gym when I travel," she told My Morning Routine. According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Meditation

"Meditation is one of the most important things I do each day," Ivanka told My Morning Routine about her 5:30 am practice. "I meditate for twenty minutes, ideally twice daily. Sometimes I miss the afternoon session, but I always make the morning one. It's been invaluable in terms of calming my mind and allowing me to think more clearly. I recently treated my team to an intensive transcendental meditation course. It's proven to increase productivity at work and cut down on stress (doesn't that sound awesome!?)."

Outdoor Activities

Ivanka also enjoys outdoor activities, like horseback riding, skiing, and surfing — a workout that provides many health benefits including cardiovascular fitness from paddling, shoulder and back strength, which also strengthens from the paddling, and leg and core strength. "Once you're standing up on the board, strong legs and a strong core will keep you up," says According to the Australian government's Better Health.
