Jasmine Sanders, aka the “Golden Barbie,” is a well-known model and social media influencer, known for her fashion and fitness. With 6.2M followers, she has a lot of people looking her way for fashion, health and wellness tips. After doing some digging, here are some of her go-to tips for both mental and physical strength.

1. She aims to spread body positivity

It’s important to her to spread body positivity and confidence to her community. “I’ve been extremely overwhelmed with all of the love and support that I’ve received from this cover! I’ve been trying to get my words together ever since I got the news! I am beyond honored to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2020 - with not only one cover hitting stands on July 21st but TWO!! Standing proud as the 4th Black woman to grace the cover of such an iconic magazine,” she said. “This is a moment that I have dreamt of for what feels like my entire life! It’s such an amazing and indescribable feeling! I am proud to be a part of a magazine that represents diversity and inclusivity. Showing people around the world that every body type is beautiful, every skin complexion is radiant, age is nothing but a number, and everyone who has a dream and really sticks to it can really make that dream a reality,” she continues. “To my Sports Illustrated Swimsuit family and @mj_day the most extraordinary boss babe I know - I cannot thank you all enough for this opportunity! I also cannot post this without thanking my agent @jonilaninyc for personally walking me in to this casting and helping me with any and everything along the way. @yutsai88 - you and your team made me feel extremely comfortable, confident, strong, and beautiful during this entire shoot! I must say this trip was an experience of a lifetime and one that I will never forget!!! Thank you 🙏🏽❤️😩 @si_swimsuit”

2. She works hard to get into a good mental state

Some days, you need a little support and she’s not afraid to ask for it. “Life has a tendency of flipping the switch and showing the fuck out… And honestly, so do I. So I am curious what are ways that you don’t lose your shit throughout the day? Like all jokes aside … it can be a true task if you don’t have the right tools! Let’s help each other out,” she said.

3. She’s unbothered by people's opinions

She tries not to let negativity affect her. “Shade coming from a tree bearing no fruit should never bother you,” she said. According to the Mayo Clinic, “Positive thinking helps with stress management and can even improve your health.”

4. She works hard in the gym

She puts in the work at the gym. “My pain today is my strength tomorrow,” she quoted on Instagram. “I read this quote as I walked in @dogpound last month feeling broken, drained, and exhausted. This is a video showing how I push through all of my pain (mentally and physically) No matter how hard things get or how frustrating things may be.. I will keep going. I love recording videos in the gym.. not only to correct my form but to see the fight in my eyes, the drive to keep going, and the sparkle in my smile returning. This is a reminder to keep going. Keep pushing past the whispers. Stop standing in your own way. Give yourself grace but also take life by the horns. You got it!”

5. She swims

She enjoys a day by the pool, like in this Instagram post that she captioned, “I finally found my rhythm when I realized that even the steps backward were part of the dance,” she said. According to the Cleveland Clinic and Swim England, “a major study commissioned by Swim England found that swimmers have a 41% lower risk of death due to heart disease or stroke than non-swimmers,” Travers shares, “plus a 28% lower risk of early death overall.”
