Jennifer Garner in Workout Gear Does High Knee Step-Ups in San Fran

The Elektra star is seen doing step-up exercises, enjoying a croissant, and seeing the sights.

Jennifer Garner is an extremely successful actress known for her roles in 13 Going on 30, Alias, Daredevil, Dallas Buyers Club, and Catch Me If You Can. (And rumor has it she may appear in this week's Deadpool & Wolverine.) Garner is also the founder of Once Upon A Farm. She recently visited San Francisco, and shared some highlights on Instagram. In the post, Garner is seen doing step-up exercises, enjoying a croissant, and seeing the sights. She captioned the post, "A few days of @onceuponafarm meetings in San Francisco left me excited for the future…(and dreaming of Hannah Hall)." How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Jennifer Garner stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.

1

She Does Step-Ups

The step-ups that Garner is seen doing have a lot of benefits. The Mayo Clinic reports, "A step-up is a simple body resistance exercise that works muscles in the legs and buttocks. A step-up targets the quadriceps, here, and hamstrings, here, as well as the gluteal muscles in the buttocks. This is a good general lower body conditioning exercise."

She Washes Her Face

Garner shared some of her skincare secrets with WhoWhatWear. In it, she shared her nighttime routine. "I have always, always, always washed my face at night no matter what, even if I don't have makeup on. I like to go to bed with clean skin. I want it working for me while I sleep. I'll use retinol—the Rapid Wrinkle Repair is what I use because it's around, and I have it. I've learned that I can trust it, and I don't need to go fancy. I just really stick with what I know and trust."

She Loves Hyaluronic Acid

Garner tells WhoWhatWear that she likes to use hyaluronic acid on her skin. "Every other night, I'll use the Hydro Boost, the hyaluronic acid, because retinol is really putting your skin to work and saying, 'Hey, get to work, regenerate, turn over cells. Let's go.' And then hyaluronic acid is just like, 'Let's just bring moisture to the surface of the skin barrier, and let's plump you up and quench your thirst and make you look dewy.' So that is my combo."

She Uses SPF

Garner says to WhoWhatWear that she makes sure to wear SPF on a regular basis. "I would start with SPF. You've got to have your SPF on. As a matter of fact, I like to layer it a lot, but the Hydro Boost moisturizer during the day has an SPF of 50. So if nothing else, then you know you're golden. If I have five minutes, I could get totally ready in five minutes…It's consistency. It's really just about consistently wearing sunscreen. It's so boring. But at your age especially, you have to be so careful because it feels great to get a tan. You guys all do this. Look at me. I'm your 50-year-old self. I'm telling you [to] wear sunscreen [and] get a spray tan."

She Loves Nuts

Garner likes to snack on nuts, like pistachios. She revealed to TODAY that she always makes sure to have a bag of them on hand. "I have gone through spells of traveling a lot and I'm always panicked that I'll get on a plane and I won't have something healthy to eat and I'll find myself knee-deep in my neighbor's rigatoni after I finish my own. So I guess I panic that I don't have anything and I keep adding to the bag without ever taking out."
