In a 2013 interview with OK! Magazine, Hewitt discussed her approach to exercise. "I try to switch it up a bit. I've found that if every week I do something different it tricks my muscles into not getting used to doing any one thing," she said. "The best trick for me right now is to constantly shock my body into different things. So I never do one thing all week," she added to Extra.

Hewitt is a fan of dance fitness, she revealed to OK! Magazine. "I do Zumba. I have DVDs and I dance around like a crazy person in my house." Dancing is a great workout for many reasons. Not only does it build strength and promote flexibility, but helps you lose weight and even promotes cardiovascular function. A 2016 study published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine determined that people who engaged in moderate-intensity dancing were 46 percent less likely to develop heart disease or die from it than non-dancers. In comparison, moderate-intensity walkers were just 25 percent less likely to suffer heart health issues.

Strength Training and Boxing

The actress works out with  Leyon Azubuike. Most of their sessions consist of boxing and strength training. "I do a day of push ups and abs," she reveals. According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Jennifer loves trying out new workout methods and taking classes. I've done this fluidity workout, which is sort of like a cardio bar thing," she told Extra TV.

Running

She also makes sure to get her cardio in. "I do a little bit of running on the treadmill," she added. According to the Mayo Clinic, running is great for cardiovascular health, muscle building, and weight loss. "For every mile run, the average person will burn approximately 100 calories," they say.

Another form of cardio you might find Jennifer doing? "I'll do some riding on bikes," she says. The Cleveland Clinic explains that biking, a low-impact aerobic exercise, is great for building muscle, improving strength and flexibility, and improving balance. It can also boost mental health and help other health conditions, including arthritis.

Yoga and Pilates are two other workouts that Jennifer enjoys. Why is pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic there are lots of benefits to the workout, as it "strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility resulting in improved overall health." It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, relief from stress and back pain, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.
