Joy Corrigan is looking pretty in pink in her workout gear. In a new social media post the star wears a matching bright pink Alo set, showing off her washboard abs and discussing her breast implant removal. “Happy Friyayyyy!! 💗 It’s been almost 9 months since my explant surgery and I’ve beyond grateful for my health. I’ve never felt better or healthier. Thanks to everyone who has supported me on this journey,” she captioned the post. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.
1. “Intentional and Mindful” Mornings
“I try to make my mornings intentional and mindful,” she told Women Fitness. “Every day, right when I wake up, I start with a large glass of water followed by a quick meditation. Next, I make a fully organic coffee that includes Chaga mushrooms, ashwagandha, and MCT coconut oil while I review my daily to-do list.” Should you start your day with meditation? “When you meditate, you may clear away the information overload that builds up every day and contributes to your stress,” says the Mayo Clinic. Benefits include:
- Gaining a new perspective on stressful situations
- Building skills to manage your stress
- Increasing self-awareness
- Focusing on the present
- Reducing negative emotions
- Increasing imagination and creativity
- Increasing patience and tolerance
- Lowering resting heart rate
- Lowering resting blood pressure
- Improving sleep quality
2. Stretching
Joy doesn’t skip her stretches. “My top 5 stretches are downward dog, splits, backbends, toe touches, and any other easy yoga moves. Recently I have been using the ALO Moves app to learn new stretches!” she said. “Stretching keeps the muscles flexible, strong, and healthy, and we need that flexibility to maintain a range of motion in the joints,” says Harvard Health. “Without it, the muscles shorten and become tight. Then, when you call on the muscles for activity, they are weak and unable to extend all the way. That puts you at risk for joint pain, strains, and muscle damage.”
3. Smoothies
Joy is a fan of post-workout smoothies. “After my workouts, I love to make a smoothie loaded with organic berries, almond butter, frozen acai, spinach, celery, cucumber, and a little protein or collagen,” she said.
4. Hydration
“Drink plenty of water!” Joy told Haute Living. “It’s a great way to rid my body of toxins and curb my appetite. Drinking a huge glass of water first thing in the morning is one of my favorite habits.” According to the Mayo Clinic, hydration is important for a variety of reasons. Water helps get rid of waste through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements, keeps your temperature normal, lubricates and cushions joints, and helps protect sensitive tissues.
5. Collagen and Ketones
Collagen and ketone supplements are part of Joy’s regiment. “Collagen has been great for my nails, skin and hair. Ketones give me an amazing natural energy boost throughout the day,” she told Haute Living.
6. Consistently Eating Healthy
“I’ve found that there is no single secret to a slim torso. For me, it comes from hard work and consistently eating healthy, while limiting processed foods as much as possible,” Joy told Women Fitness. “My favorite meal is dinner because this is typically when I get to relax and enjoy a nourishing meal. Sometimes I will also have a glass of wine with my loved ones! I have been trying new recipes a couple of times a week. But on many nights, my dinner includes a healthy protein like wild-caught salmon or other fish, some veggies like steamed asparagus and mushrooms, and a gluten-free carb like rice pasta or a large sweet potato covered in grass-fed ghee.”
