Karen McDougal is getting fit in Michigan. In a new social media post the model at the center of the Donald Trump trial shows off her amazing body in workout clothes during a vacation up north. “Mackinac Island fun 🫶🏼Pure #Michigan,” she captioned the Instagram post. How does the star approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

1. Exercise

“I started exercising because I was doing a lot of photo shoots for fitness publications,” Karen told Muscle & Fitness about her motivation to sweat. “I soon discovered that I loved what working out did for my body!” Today, she values her regular workouts more for their health benefits than aesthetics. “Exercise makes you feel better; it gives you energy and keeps you strong like nothing else!”

2. Five Workouts a Week

Karen works out almost every day. “I hit the gym five times a week and rotate body parts to focus on,” she told Star. “On Monday and Thursday’s I do 10 minutes of cardio and move onto working my lower body with squats, lunges, hamstring curls, and other leg exercises. Tuesdays and Fridays I do 30 minutes of cardio and then work my triceps and biceps with free weights and cables. On Wednesdays I make sure to do 30 minutes of cardio and then work my shoulders, back and chest. The results are amazing. My doctor marvels at my heart health. It helps keep a positive attitude and overcome depression. It helps me feel healthy from the inside out.”

3. Clean Diet

Karen sticks to a clean diet. Her favorite foods include oatmeal, salmon, chicken, and broccoli. However she also has a sweet tooth. “My body craves sugar!” she told Muscle & Fitness . “I eat clean mostly and work out, so I don’t feel too guilty about eating sweets.”

4. Hydration

Karen is a big advocate of hydration. “Drinking water makes your skin look nicer and flushes out toxins,” says McDougal, revealing to Muscle & Fitness that she drinks several liters of water a day plus three to five green teas.

5. Juicing

Karen loves drinking her nutrients. "Juicing is a great way to get a lot of nutrients quickly, same with soup,” she told Us. Her go-to drink? Celery, apple, cucumber, spinach, orange, banana, and lemon.

In it, she posed in a black bikini, looking gorgeous. She captioned the reel, “One night in Devon. Solo sunsets are a healer. Feeling blessed to have worked on something special this week in such a stunning part of England. My passion lead me to peace. After a heavy thinking day, I took some time out on my own and reminded myself how temporary time is and how precious life is. Grateful for this night.” How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Christine McGuinness stays in shape and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bathing Suit Photos!

1. She Doesn’t Want To Lose Too Much Weight

When it comes to working out, McGuinness doesn’t do it to lose weight. She tells The Mirror that fitness is more about how she feels than how she looks. “You need to focus on how you feel,” she said. “I had an eating disorder for 10 years. Constantly focusing on weight and losing it became an obsession. When you get into fitness, if you take away the scales and just go on how you feel and how your clothes fit, you become a bit more relaxed.”

2. She Strength Trains

4. She Works Out At Home

5. She Eats A Lot Of Protein

McGuinness revealed her daily diet to Closer Online. She says that she eats a lot of protein. “I usually have a protein shake first thing, followed by scrambled eggs and avocado after the gym. Water Skiing

Sydney has been water skiing since she was a toddler. “The moment I could walk, my mom put me on what’s called a U-board to learn how to ski,” she told Women’s Health. “I remember that whenever we would go by the docks of my grandma’s or my cousin’s house, I’d wave. I felt so cool because I could take off one hand. That’s my earliest memory of skiing, but I’ve been doing it as long as I can remember. It’s my favorite.” How does it help her achieve her amazing body? “It’s a lot of upper body strength, it’s balance, it’s core, it’s legs—you get tired really fast,” she says. “I see such a change in my body after an entire summer of [skiing]. My arms are stronger, more sculpted. My abs are rock solid. But I never look at it as a workout because it is so much fun,” she said.

Morning Workouts

Sydney mixes up her exercise routine, but likes to get workouts over with early in the day. “I like to work out in the morning, so I’ll either go for a run or I’ll go to Solidcore,” says Sydney. The high-intensity, low-impact Pilates-inspired workout “makes me feel so strong, but also elongated,” Sydney said about her sweat sessions. “I feel so good afterwards.”

Self-Care

Sydney engages in self-care activities. “I love to paint, and I love to read,” she said. “Those are the activities that are just for me.” One Harvard study published in Social Science & Medicine found that people who read books regularly had a 20% lower risk of dying over the next 12 years than those who weren't readers or who read periodicals.

She Walks and Hikes

One of the ways she treats her anxiety is by spending time outdoors with her dog, Tank. She takes him on walks or hikes. Going for a daily walk can be a game changer, especially at a brisk speed. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day reduced the risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia, and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.

How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Strength Training

Mariana relies on old-school strength training to keep her body toned. “Training till failure instead of reps + taking my ab routine up a notch by incorporating weighted exercises,” she wrote about one of her workout tactics. “I can feel my muscles being challenged and am in tune with my movements.” According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Prioritizing Digestion and Getting Blood Work Done

Other healthy habits? “Prioritizing digestion,” she writes in the same post. “Making sure I get enough fiber & starting off every morning with a juice cleanse. This has helped me feel so much better everyday.” She also gets regular blood work done. “So important to check your levels and know what’s going on in your body routinely! Don’t skip the doc apts, always better to be preventative.”

Hiking

Mariana enjoys hiking. “Elevation therapy,” she captioned a post from one of her fitness adventures. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:

  • Building stronger muscles and bones
  • Improving your sense of balance
  • Improving your heart health
  • Decreasing the risk of some respiratory issues

Pilates

Mariana does reformer Pilates. “POV: Stepping into the prettiest torture chamber,” she wrote across a video of herself at the studio. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Emsculpt NEO

Mariana recently got an aesthetic body treatment, Emsculpt NEO. “I’ve heard all the rage about the benefits to spot reducing fat & toning muscle so I had to give it a try to target those pesky lower abs. It was a 10/10 & a great addition to my workout routine,” she wrote.
