Olympic diver Kassidy Cook knows how to make a splash—whether it’s in the pool or the snow. The silver medalist recently took a break from training to celebrate a friend’s engagement in Park City, Utah, sharing a wintery photo dump on Instagram. Posing in a swimsuit against the snowy backdrop, Cook captioned the post, “Snow place like Park City to celebrate the coolest bride to be @mik_flo ! ❄️👰♀️” But even off-duty, Cook stays dedicated to her health and fitness. From strength training to recovery, here’s how she keeps herself competition-ready.
She Loves Oats
Cook makes sure to eat a healthy diet. She loves eating overnight oats in the morning. Cook shared one of her favorite recipes in the caption of this Instagram post. “Monday morning workout, followed by overnight oats w/ @americandreamnutbutter 😋OVERNIGHT OATS: - Equal parts Oats and Milk of choice - Handful of fresh or frozen fruit of choice - Heaping spoonful of @americandreamnutbutter (Code: KASSIDY10) 🌟 - Dash of cinnamon - Drizzle of honey.”
She Does Squats
Cook is seen doing squats in the previous Instagram post. Squats are very beneficial. Piedmont reports, “Squats are a compound, multi-joint movement, which means they exercise several muscle groups. When you perform a squat, you work your calves, quads, hamstrings, glutes, core and part of your back. A squat has more overall benefits than, say, a bicep curl, which strengthens an isolated area.”
She Lifts Weights
Cook shared some of her favorite workouts and foods in this Instagram video. One thing she is seen doing is lifting a dumbbell. ACE Fitness says that lifting weights has a lot of health benefits. “Training with heavy weights helps you to improve your self-confidence. Knowing that you can lift heavy stuff gives you the confidence that you can handle common challenges, such as putting a bag in the overhead bin on an airplane or carrying a heavy piece of furniture while reorganizing a room or helping a friend move. Strength training with heavy weights improves muscle definition. Muscle definition occurs as the result of muscles remaining in a state of semi-contraction and heavy strength training recruits the larger type II muscle fibers responsible for a muscle’s appearance.”
She Has A Supportive Family
Cook opened up about how her family supported her in an interview with NBC Olympics. “I've made a lot of personal sacrifices, but my family has as well, so this medal is every bit of theirs as it is mine. I grew up with five brothers and sisters, and they're all just so supportive of me no matter where they are at in life. They made the trip out here. Most of my sisters are married and have kids under three years old and they still made this trip out here, so their support truly means everything. Like I said, it takes a village and this is their celebration as well.”
She Takes Care Of Herself
Cook and Bacon talked about how they prevent injuries in their NBC Olympics interview. “We've had our fair share of injuries. I'm the guilty one of the party that is always getting injured and having to compete with basically one arm ... I think just trusting in our training, trusting in ourselves, keep taking care of our bodies, and we ended up here. Staying sharp up there and trusting in our synchro and just letting everything happen. Doing what we do in practice.”
