Kate Hudson in Bikini Is “Summer Loving”

Kate Hudson is basking up the sun this summer in her bikini. In a new social media post, the swimsuit babe shows off her forever-young figure in a skimpy swimsuit while sharing snaps of her season so far. “​​Summer loving ☀️Feels great to finally have a moment to reset. Fresh air, family time, movement, good food,” she captioned the Instagram photos. How does the star manage to look half her age? Here are some of her diet and fitness tips.

Lift Weights

Kate maintains that changing her approach to fitness in her 40s made a big difference. She started training Brian Nguyen, who has her lifting weights. “When (Brian and I) started working together, one of the things I never did was strength training, that was something I never realized was a huge part missing,” Hudson told Today. Hip and glute bridges, planks, bodyweight squats, and lunges are part of her routine. According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Tune Into Your Body

Kate maintains that “tuning in” to her body was a game changer. “If you’re tuned in and your body tells you, it really does speak to you,” she told Today. “One day, I tuned in and I was like … I don’t feel strong, I feel long and I love my Pilates but as I get older… am I doing enough (strength) exercises?”

Amp Up Protein

Hudson shifted her approach to diet after 40 and became more protein-focused. “Food is everything,” she says. “The food we eat is fuel for our body,” she added. “We, especially women, should really be eating more protein, especially in the morning.” According to clinical trials, consuming more protein than the recommended dietary allowance not only reduces body weight (BW), but also enhances body composition by decreasing fat mass while preserving fat-free mass (FFM) in both low-calorie and standard-calorie diets.

Track Your Meals

Hudson recommends tracking food. She uses MyFitnessPal. “Food is 80% of the challenge … and tracking it, knowing it, understanding it, and having the knowledge is something I’m passionate about,” she said. She revealed that while shooting Something Borrowed in 2011, she was on a raw food diet. “It was trendy at the time to eat raw, but I gained maybe 10 to 15 pounds and I didn’t understand what was happening because I thought I was eating so healthy and I cut out meat,” she said. “I started tracking, and (realized) I was eating about 3,000 calories of just nuts … If I didn’t have access to understand (that), I would have never known,” Hudson adds.

Do Yoga

Kate has been doing yoga for decades “It’s about understanding your own individual likes, not fads,” she told SELF. “Anything you do helps. You could sit there and not think of your mantra for your whole practice, but you’re still benefiting.”
