Kiki Rice is modeling and her followers are loving it. In a new social media post the UCLA Bruins basketball star shows off her amazing body in workout gear. She shared the images via Instagram. “Um okay at this point become a model,” one of her followers commented. “So pretty kiki😍,” added another. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

1. Acai Bowls

In a YouTube video detailing her day, Kiki explained that she has a light breakfast in the morning. Prior to working out, Kiki will fuel up on an Acai bowl, because she doesn’t want to eat anything too heavy before exercising.

2. Stretching

She will then do some stretches, “so I don’t get tendonitis in my knees and I keep my ankles strong. She also stretches right before a game. “Stretching keeps the muscles flexible, strong, and healthy, and we need that flexibility to maintain a range of motion in the joints,” says Harvard Health. “Without it, the muscles shorten and become tight. Then, when you call on the muscles for activity, they are weak and unable to extend all the way. That puts you at risk for joint pain, strains, and muscle damage.”

3. Strength Training

Next up, lifting and conditioning. She does a variety of exercises including lifting weight, box jumps, planks, and resistance using exercise bands. According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

4. Cooking

Young,Happy,African,American,Woman,Enjoying,Cooking,While,Listening,ToShutterstock

Kiki likes to cook her own food to ensure healthy eating. One of her favorite meals? Beef tacos. During her day in the life she reveals that she alone will eat at least a half pound of the meat for the protein alone. According to clinical trials, consuming more protein than the recommended dietary allowance not only reduces body weight (BW), but also enhances body composition by decreasing fat mass while preserving fat-free mass (FFM) in both low-calorie and standard-calorie diets.

5. Basketball

Kiki spends hours a day playing basketball. “Basketball promotes speed, agility, strength, power and endurance. It [has] also been shown to increase flexibility and motor coordination. As a result, basketball is uniquely oriented to improve fundamental motor skills that are shown to be beneficial in promoting general health,” Koco Eaton, M.D., orthopedic surgeon, founder of Eaton Orthopaedics and a former basketball player, tells Nike.

Runck shares some of her wellness secrets on her fitness Instagram. In this post’s caption, she talked about the importance of focus. “What separates good from great in life, business or sports is your ability to focus. Time spent away from the this makes me feel less whole. The resistance that you fight physically in the gym and the resistance that you fight in life can only build a strong character.”

Nelly Korda, a professional golfer with an illustrious career, has won 14 WPGA Tour titles and a gold medal at the 2020 Olympics. Known for her skill and determination on the course, Korda also made waves as a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model. A few weeks ago, she shared highlights of her November on Instagram, featuring moments with friends, her dog, and coffee breaks.

She Took a Break

Ahead of the Le Golf National, Korda talked about why she took a break in a press conference. “My parents have always said, it’s very important to put your head down, grind, go to the gym but it’s also important to recharge your battery because sometimes with all the obligations that you maybe have off the golf course, and then all the emotions that you feel on the golf course that you go through, all the adrenaline, it tears at you a little bit. So it’s good to kind of step away and to recharge your batteries and to come back a little bit more fresh.”

She Does Lunges

Korda shared this video on Instagram of herself doing different exercises. One thing she is seen doing is lunges. The Mayo Clinic states that this exercise has a lot of health benefits. “The lunge is a body resistance exercise that works the leg muscles. Specifically, the lunge targets the quadriceps and the hamstring muscles in the thigh, the gluteal muscles in the buttock, and to a lesser extent, the lower leg muscles. The lunge is a great conditioning exercise for many sports, especially those that involve lunging movements, such as tennis, basketball or soccer.”

She Does Squats

Nelly Korda does squats with weights and a barbell.

It strengthens and tones muscles in your thighs, butt and calves and improves posture, balance, flexibility and inner core strength. Squatting also improves bone mineral density to keep your bones strong. Include squats in your exercise routine two to three days a week to reap the benefits from this dynamite move. Rest at least one day to allow muscle recovery.”

She Does Hip Thrusts

Water Skiing

Sydney has been water skiing since she was a toddler. “The moment I could walk, my mom put me on what’s called a U-board to learn how to ski,” she told Women’s Health. “I remember that whenever we would go by the docks of my grandma’s or my cousin’s house, I’d wave. I felt so cool because I could take off one hand. That’s my earliest memory of skiing, but I’ve been doing it as long as I can remember. It’s my favorite.” How does it help her achieve her amazing body? “It’s a lot of upper body strength, it’s balance, it’s core, it’s legs—you get tired really fast,” she says. “I see such a change in my body after an entire summer of [skiing]. My arms are stronger, more sculpted. My abs are rock solid. But I never look at it as a workout because it is so much fun,” she said.

Morning Workouts

Sydney mixes up her exercise routine, but likes to get workouts over with early in the day. “I like to work out in the morning, so I’ll either go for a run or I’ll go to Solidcore,” says Sydney. The high-intensity, low-impact Pilates-inspired workout “makes me feel so strong, but also elongated,” Sydney said about her sweat sessions. “I feel so good afterwards.”

Self-Care

Sydney engages in self-care activities. “I love to paint, and I love to read,” she said. “Those are the activities that are just for me.” One Harvard study published in Social Science & Medicine found that people who read books regularly had a 20% lower risk of dying over the next 12 years than those who weren't readers or who read periodicals.

She Walks and Hikes

One of the ways she treats her anxiety is by spending time outdoors with her dog, Tank. She takes him on walks or hikes. Going for a daily walk can be a game changer, especially at a brisk speed. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day reduced the risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia, and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.

How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Strength Training

Mariana relies on old-school strength training to keep her body toned. “Training till failure instead of reps + taking my ab routine up a notch by incorporating weighted exercises,” she wrote about one of her workout tactics. “I can feel my muscles being challenged and am in tune with my movements.” According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Prioritizing Digestion and Getting Blood Work Done

This has helped me feel so much better everyday.” She also gets regular blood work done. “So important to check your levels and know what’s going on in your body routinely! Don’t skip the doc apts, always better to be preventative.”

According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Emsculpt NEO

Mariana recently got an aesthetic body treatment, Emsculpt NEO. “I’ve heard all the rage about the benefits to spot reducing fat & toning muscle so I had to give it a try to target those pesky lower abs. It was a 10/10 & a great addition to my workout routine,” she wrote.
