King Charles Star Gayle King Shares Swimsuit Photo From Cancun

Gayle King is sharing her annual swimsuit photo with her niece! In a new social media post, the media personality shows off her fabulously fit at 68 body in a variety of bathing suits while vacationing in Cancun at the Rosewood Mayakoba resort. “Back by popular demand: Our annual Thanksgiving swimsuit photo shoot with fav niece,” she captioned the photo, tagging her niece Mekenzye. “It all started as a joke in 2017 where I was making fun of Mekenzye and now it’s turned into a thing….but full disclosure everybody looks good taking a picture at @rwmayakoba in Cancun! Highly recommend.” How does Oprah’s BFF—and star of CNN's new series King Charles—approach health and fitness? Celebwell rounded up her top lifestyle habits.


1. Exercise

Gayle once told Oprah that she works out for an hour five to six days a week. She does a minimum of 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of strength training either with resistance bands or free weights, doing upper body one and lower the next. On weekends she will do both. She also does ab exercises three to four days a week.

2. Weight Training

Gayle stresses the importance of lifting weights. "Before I was doing cardio, cardio, cardio," Gayle told Oprah. "And I wasn't losing weight the way I'm losing now. Jim said to me that building up muscle really does burn calories faster. For me, that's been the case."

3. Healthy Eating But No Restrictions

“I deny myself nothing," Gayle says about her relaxed approach to diet. "Some people don't eat pasta or bread or sweets ever. I love those foods too much. So for the most part, I eat healthy, but if I go to a party or on vacation, I'm going to enjoy it; then I work extra hard to get back to where I was." She also abides by the easy come easy go belief. "I've learned that when you gain weight quickly," she says, "you can lose it quickly."

4. Soup Fasts

Gayle has done soup cleanses in the past. “I went from 172.2 pounds down to 165 pounds. Update! Just completed 5 day soup fast & the results are in! Trying to get into mustard yellow dress for Elex night coverage TONITE ..praying to sweet black baby Jesus it now fits, that you VOTE, & that there is PEACE ... ps plz withhold all negative comments about my jacked up feet I’m well aware they are a hot mess but not yet comfortable in a covid environment going to nail salon... bigger issues to worry about ....” she captioned a 2020 post.

5. Weight Watchers

In 2016 King dropped nearly 28 pounds by following the Weight Watchers program, going from 184.5 pounds to 156.8 pounds. “‘It’s going down’ — to quote Kesha — ‘I’m yelling timber,’” she wrote via Instagram at the time, sharing a photo of her feet on a scale. “October 7, 163.6 and now 160.6. Went up for a hot minute, now back on track at Weight Watchers counting the points!”
