The Real Housewives of New York star Kristen Taekman is still modeling at 47—no wonder she takes such good care of herself. Taekman shared a video of herself wearing head-to-toe pink workout gear, doing exercises on a reformer Pilates machine. “Pilates is what keeps me going…. for real you guys 🤍#pilates #housewife #model #summer #LA ,” she captioned the post. “I love it!” a fan commented. Here’s how Taekman is living her best life after moving from New York to Los Angeles.

1. Reformer Pilates

Taekman swears by reformer Pilates sessions to keep her toned, fit and strong. “Pilates can make you aware of your body and your experience inside your body," Sarah Wilcoxon, associate professor of dance and comprehensive Pilates certified instructor at Missouri State University, tells Authority Magazine. "This is excellent news for folks (like me) who know that mindfulness and meditation are good for mental health but have trouble sitting still."

2. Silk Pillowcase

Silk,Pillow,Cover,,Folded,Silk,Cushion,CaseShutterstock

Taekman sleeps on a silk pillowcase to protect her hair and skin. "The best beauty advice I've ever gotten is to sleep with a silk pillowcase," she told PEOPLE. "It's good for your hair, it's good for your skin and it's anti-aging. When you're smooshed up all night on a cotton pillow, it causes wrinkles and messes up your hair. When I travel I bring silk scarves to throw on the pillow."

3. Light Botox

Taekman is careful about any cosmetic treatments on her face. "I started getting very light Botox when I was 35," she told PEOPLE. "Just a little bit once or twice a year. And then I get a facial once a month at Frederic Fekkai. It's like hitting refresh on my skin."

4. RHONY Legacy

Taekman was thrilled to return for The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip RHONY Legacy. “You know what the best part is? I’m truly just myself,” she told Pedestrian.tv. “The first time around, just to paint the picture: it was Season Six, I was the youngest by far, these girls had been doing it for a long time, they were off the air for a season, they were scurrying to cast, they cast me, I was the only new girl that season, I was going into a machine that had been running for so long and I was a little intimidated!”

5. Beverly Hills Housewives?

Taekman is unsure about possibly joining The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills if asked. “I keep getting that question and I would never say never but I’m just trying to ride this rollercoaster and enjoy it for what it is,” she told Pedestrian.tv. “I think the Beverly Hills [cast] are amazing and it’s such a strong cast so I can’t imagine what that would even look like. But they’re lovely women and I’d be honored to be considered!”

Danielle Bernstein is the creative mind behind the blog and Instagram account, We Wore What. She still shares some personal photos on her account. Bernstein shared some weekend highlights on her page recently. In them, she enjoyed time with a horse, played tennis, and spent time outside. She captioned the post, “Calm weekends.” How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Danielle Bernstein stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.

1. She Works Her Abs

Bernstein makes sure to work her abs. She and her trainer shared some of her favorite things to do in this Instagram post. Bernstein captioned it, “My twice a week ab routine ~ I’ve been training with @briannajoye_fitness for just about a year now, and the key has never been to reinvent the wheel.. it’s all about simple exercises using weights and most important, consistency 👊🏻 I still do Pilates and cardio in between our sessions / of course have days off!”

2. She Has A Personal Trainer

Female,Personal,Trainer,,With,His,Back,Facing,The,Camera,,LookingShutterstock

As you can see from her previous post, Bernstein has a personal trainer. ACE Fitness states that this can help you do exercises properly. “If you are new to exercise or find that some movements are painful, it is worth hiring a trainer to be certain that you are moving in a safe and effective way. Taking the time to learn proper exercise technique can improve your results and prevent annoying injuries.”

3. She Loves Pilates

Bernstein also revealed that she loves Pilates in the previous post’s caption. ACE Fitness reports that Pilates is a very effective workout. “Pilates — once a niche strength, mobility, and recovery technique for dancers — has gone mainstream. The low-intensity, muscle-strengthening workout can promote flexibility, mobility, and posture. What’s more, it can set your body up to complete other more intense strength-training safely.”

4. She Loves Cardio

Bernstein also revealed in her post’s caption that she likes to do cardio workouts. This is very good for her health. ACE Fitness states that cardio can reduce stress. “Cardio training can enhance your ability to deal with stress more effectively. Exercise elevates levels of epinephrine, norepinephrine and cortisol, which are hormones that are produced during time of stress because they help produce energy. These are part of your body’s natural fight-or-flight response and function to provide immediate energy to handle tough situations. If you don’t exercise on a regular basis and have to deal with stress, your body can become jumpy and jittery when faced with a tough situation. Regular exercise can give your body the ability to handle and deal with these hormones when they are released into your system.”

5. She Stays Hydrated

Bernstein revealed to Forbes that she makes sure to stay hydrated. “It’s so imperative for me to lead a healthy lifestyle because my schedule—and a lot of people can relate to this—gets so chaotic that exercise and healthy diets can slip. I try to make it a point to lead by example and offer my followers easy tips and tricks they can incorporate into their daily lives. That’s why I was super excited when FIJI Water finally released a sports cap bottle! The new sports cap makes it even more convenient to hydrate when working out.”

Janette Manrara is getting an at home workout in in her workout gear. In a new social media post the Strictly Come Dancing star shows off her amazing figure during a sweat session in the comfort of her own home. “Happy Tuesday everyone. Keep moving,” she writes in the caption of the Instagram video. “It’s been tough for me getting a routine in w/ the gym being on my own w/ Lyra while still working. I get a session here and there, but w/ no consistency. I miss moving, I miss stretching. I have noticed my energy has dropped, and I have felt more anxious as well. So today I decided no gym needed, just need some quiet and a simple session just to feel better. I set the alarm before Lyra got up, and although waking up was painful, I feel SO MUCH better for doing so.” How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Pilates-Based Workouts

Getty Images

In her new workout video, Janette does a Pilates inspired workout. “These are all Pilates based movements for core and upper body strength, w/ lots of breathing and a good long stretch at the end. Quick work out, but a nice one. I used the @sweat app and put in that I had no gym equipment so I can do it from the comfort of my own living room,” she writes.

Exercise for Mental Health

Getty Images

Janette works out for her mental health. “It’s hard when we all have so much to juggle to think about the affects movement can have not just on our body, but our mental health. We ALL have easier days than others, but moving and doing something for yourself is ALWAYS going to be a good idea. The alarm hurt, but I am so grateful that I did,” she adds in the post.

Strength Training

Getty Images

Janette is really “into weight training,” she told Independent. “I’m doing a bit of running, and I like to be at home and just do 25 minutes of body exercises, just here with my yoga mat, as much as I can. That’s helped me maintain a healthy lifestyle and keep an eye on my weight, because I did feel the difference, in my muscles especially, when I stopped Strictly.”

Personalized Approach to “Wellbeing”

Getty Images

Janette approaches health in a personalized manner. “Wellbeing is everything. It’s about finding a way to be physically active and mentally stimulated and happy. There are so many different ways we can look after our mind and our body and put that into one,” Manrara told The Independent. “There’s no one solution for anyone – I learned that through my wellbeing courses. It’s about finding that balance that’s right for you, not trying fit an image, profile or a certain type. We all come in different shapes and sizes, and finding what works for you is what I think wellbeing is all about – what makes you ultimately happy and feel good.”

Small Portions and a Balanced Approach to Diet

“I wouldn’t say I eat healthily, but I think I’m very balanced with my food. If I’ve been very good in the day, I allow myself a little treat in the evening, or if I’ve been naughty in the day then I try to eat not too bad later. I also watch my portions – I don’t have big portions of anything,” Janette said about her diet. “But I’m not a crazy fiend about eating super-healthy, I just try and keep my plate balanced, with a little bit of salad, a little bit of veggies, some protein and some carbs, and if I want a little treat afterwards, then a piece of chocolate or anything like that,” she added to Independent. She also loves pizza and burgers. “I don’t think it’s about cutting things out completely, it’s just about balancing it out, and watching what you put into your body.”

Olivia Bowen first became known for being the runner-up on season two of Love Island. She met her eventual husband, Alex Bowen, on the show. They recently welcomed their first child together. In March, Bowen took to the gym to lose the pregnancy weight. She decided to do Pilates, and shared a set of photos on Instagram of herself on a reformer. Bowen captioned the post, “Most recent obsession (again)! Haven’t done reformer Pilates since I was pregnant, feels so good to do it completely able bodied.”

1. She Does A Variety Of Workouts

Bowen does a variety of different things to stay in shape. In her Instagram post, she shared some of her favorites. “I’ve been prioritising my health & fitness for the past couple months doing all sorts of workouts, running, HIIT, strength, horse riding… the list goes on lol! I’m the kind of person that definitely needs variety otherwise I zone out & get bored, so been making sure to try a bit of everything! Defo been feeling so much better inside & out.”

2. She’s Consistent

Bowen shared her fitness secrets in an interview with Women’s Health. She says that she makes sure to stay consistent with exercise. “I think it can be hard to strike a balance as you also have to be disciplined and just go even when you don't feel like it. There have been some workouts I've really not wanted to go to and I've ended up doing a personal best. You have to turn up for yourself. The first step is to literally get there, and then once you're there, that's half the battle.”

3. She Works Out With Her Husband

Bowen likes to workout with her husband, Alex. They shared this video of themselves at the gym on Instagram. According to Better Health, working out with someone else has a lot of benefits. “Exercising with a friend or loved one can make it more fun, and increase your chances of sticking to your exercise plan. Exercising with a friend is a great way to keep you motivated. It’s also a great way to meet new people. It can even save you money.”

4. She Does Workouts She Enjoys

Bowen tells Women’s Health that she makes sure to do workouts that she enjoys. “For me, it is about finding something that you really, truly enjoy. That's why with my training, I tried so much at the start because I didn't really know what I liked. It's all well and good focusing on exercise and your health, but you do have to enjoy it to keep going. I tried all sorts to make sure that I found something that actually fed my happiness, rather than just going to exercise.”

5. She Does Pilates

As you can see from her recent post, Bowen likes to do Pilates. According to The Cleveland Clinic, Pilates has a lot of benefits. “Pilates is a form of strength training, but it doesn’t look like some of the other strength training exercises you might be familiar with. Pilates focuses more on improving muscle tone than building muscles, but the result is similar: greater stability and endurance. Pilates isn’t going to bulk you up — if anything, it’s designed to cultivate a longer, leaner look. Still, it can lay a strong physical foundation for muscle-building activities — and may even reduce your likelihood of injury.”

Kerry Washington is doing hip-hop pilates – in her workout clothes. In a new video the Scandal star shows off her flat abs in a sports bra and leggings while executing a bunch of pilates exercises with her trainer, Erika Bloom. “Turning pilates moves into hip-hop grooves with @erikabloomwellness for over a decade! She is the BEST,” she captioned the post. What is pilates and why is it a great workout? Celebwell has the details.

1. Pilates Has Been Around for Almost 100 Years

Pilates was developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century by Cleveland Clinic. Initially the body conditioning workout was used as a method of injury recovery for dancers, who regularly sustain injuries. Now it is a popular mainstream method.

2. It Is Usually Done on a Reformer

Group,Of,Women,Exercising,On,Reformer,In,GymShutterstock

“Some of the principles that guide the Pilates method include concentration on each movement, use of the abdomen and low back muscles, flowing, precise movement patterns and controlled breathing,” explains the Cleveland Clinic. Pilates can be done on a mat. However, it is usually performed on a piece of equipment called a reformer, which Washington uses in the video.

3. It Is a Form of Strength Training That Doesn’t “Bulk You Up”

Los,Angeles,,Ca.,March,02,,2023:,Kerry,Washington,At,TheShutterstock

Surprisingly, Pilates is considered a form of strength training. However, instead of building muscle the method focuses more on improving muscle tone. The end result? Greater stability and endurance. “Pilates isn’t going to bulk you up — if anything, it’s designed to cultivate a longer, leaner look,” explains the Cleveland Clinic. “Still, it can lay a strong physical foundation for muscle-building activities — and may even reduce your likelihood of injury.”

4. Benefits of Pilates

Why is pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic there are lots of benefits to the workout, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility resulting in improved overall health. It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, relief from stress and back pain, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

5. Pilates Is Backed by Research

According to research, Pilates exercises are designed to increase muscle strength, endurance, and flexibility, and to improve posture and balance. Experts maintain that it is a great workout for leaning out.

Strength Training

Mariana relies on old-school strength training to keep her body toned. “Training till failure instead of reps + taking my ab routine up a notch by incorporating weighted exercises,” she wrote about one of her workout tactics. “I can feel my muscles being challenged and am in tune with my movements.” According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

Prioritizing Digestion and Getting Blood Work Done

This has helped me feel so much better everyday.” She also gets regular blood work done. “So important to check your levels and know what’s going on in your body routinely! Don’t skip the doc apts, always better to be preventative.”

Hiking

Mariana enjoys hiking. “Elevation therapy,” she captioned a post from one of her fitness adventures. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:

  • Building stronger muscles and bones
  • Improving your sense of balance
  • Improving your heart health
  • Decreasing the risk of some respiratory issues

Emsculpt NEO

Mariana recently got an aesthetic body treatment, Emsculpt NEO. “I’ve heard all the rage about the benefits to spot reducing fat & toning muscle so I had to give it a try to target those pesky lower abs. It was a 10/10 & a great addition to my workout routine,” she wrote.

She’s Consistent

Last year, Culpo was preparing for her wedding. She told E! News that she made sure to be consistent with her wellness in order to prepare. “Really trying to dial in [on] what I eat, how I workout, the workouts that I do. Trying to get them in consistently because you only get married once and I want to feel my best. But this past season it was just hard being so far away from my normal routine and where I typically live."

She Keeps Her Skin Healthy While Traveling

Culpo has amazing skin, and she makes sure to take care of it, even while traveling. “I don't wear any makeup when traveling," she says to Travel + Leisure. "That's one rule because I do feel like you will have a higher chance of breaking out if you are wearing a full face of makeup. A few things I always have with me is some sort of a spray. I love Dr. Barbara Sturm or Caudalie or La Mer. I also absolutely love traveling with a makeup wipe, the Neutrogena wipes are great. Something to just take off the sweat you build up.”

She Keeps Her Skincare Simple

Culpo shared her skincare routines with Byrdie. She says that she keeps her morning and night routine simple. “I am always trying out new products, so what I gravitate toward is often changing. At night, I usually use an oil and a serum. Right now, I love the Clarins Double Serum. In the morning, I use a Vitamin C serum and an SPF, and, typically, I just rinse my skin with warm water instead of using a cleanser. It is something I swear by—it allows for the oils on my skin from sleeping to absorb naturally.”

She Uses Products With Vitamins

Culpo shared some of her favorite skincare products with Byrdie. She says that she uses ones that have vitamins in them. “I have noticed a huge difference in my skin with vitamin C and E. I love the Good Janes H2OMyGod Moisturizer—it's sort of an all-in-one moisturizer that has vitamin C and collagen peptides. As for vitamin E, I actually just purchase the oil from the drugstore. It is super cheap and great to put on any red marks I may get from an occasional breakout. The healing process is so much quicker when I am using Vitamin E oil.”

She Packs Healthy Snacks

Culpo makes sure to eat healthy. She shared some of the snacks she packs with her with Travel + Leisure. "I love the Kind bars. I love any sort of nuts, to be honest with you. Abigail Ratchford’s amazing body has helped her become one of the most famous models on the internet. The 32-year-old, who boasts over 9.1 million followers on Instagram alone, attributes her measurement-defying body to a few simple habits. Here is everything she does to stay fit at 32.

She Follows 4 Diet Rules

Abigail swears that abiding by simple rules helps her stay in shape. “I can’t diet. That just doesn’t work for me,” she told New Beauty. “I started to be healthier by first cutting out soda. Then, I stopped eating after 7 p.m. Finally, I started really watching my portions so I was eating fewer calories every day. And water—lots and lots of water.”

She UsesMyFitnessPal

Abigail explains being accountable for what she eats is crucial. While it’s not “rocket science,” she does use the MyFitnessPal app to track her eating. “I’m the type of person who likes to eat what I want. The app can help anyone do that—you can still eat great food, you just eat less of it,” she added New Beauty.

Pilates

Abigail is a fan of Pilates. “Group workout classes are so big right now, but I always get nervous around other people in settings like that. I have to go at my own pace without a bunch of distractions so, for me, Pilates with a one-on-one instructor works best. It’s not cheap, but then you also aren’t tempted to skip,” she said She added to Men’s Fitness via Muscle & Fitness that the workout “keeps you long and lean” — and the Mayo Clinic agrees. They say it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, relief from stress and back pain, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Balanced Diet

“I love green juices and smoothies. Sometimes I’ll put some protein powder in the morning—I feel like the mix of vegetables, and vitamins and stuff that’s in them, really gives me a lot of energy in the morning. I love BBQ food—my ultimate cheat is a pulled pork sandwich, sweet potato fries, and macaroni and cheese from this great place in LA,” she told Men’s Fitness.

Strength Training

Ratchford also lifts weights. “Initially, I made the mistake that a lot of girls do and I was only doing cardio. I just really didn’t see too much change in my body. I’ve been listening to my girlfriends who are in great shape and they say you have to do weight training, you have to go in and do squats. That’s my new thing—I’ve been doing some resistance training, circuit training,” she told Men’s Fitness. The Mayo Clinic explains that strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

Develop strong bones

Manage your weight

Enhance your quality of life

Manage chronic conditions

Sharpen your thinking skills
