Laura Vandervoort has been captivating audiences for years, from her breakout role on Instant Star to her time as Supergirl on Smallville. But beyond the screen, the actress is focused on staying strong and healthy. Recently, Vandervoort gave fans a taste of warmer days, sharing stunning beachside photos on Instagram. “Okay winter, I’ve had enough of you 🥶. I would now like to be here again please. Thank you. ☀️” she wrote. While she might be dreaming of sunnier escapes, her dedication to fitness and wellness never takes a break. From protein-packed smoothies to strength training, here’s how Vandervoort keeps herself feeling and looking her best.

She Loves Smoothies

Vandervoort shared some of her favorite healthy foods with SELF. In it, she revealed her favorite smoothie recipe. "I find it hard to always stay on track and get my vegetables and protein in," says Vandervoort. "I decided to freeze several zip bags full of kale, half a banana and blueberries for a smoothie each morning. This makes it easier for me to simply throw the ingredients in the blender with my protein powder.”

She Eats Greek Yogurt

Vandervoort loves eating Greek yogurt. She tells SELF, “I also am a huge fan of Greek yogurt--it's another great way to get your protein. It fills me up and gives me long-lasting fuel until lunch. Add a cup of coffee and almond milk and I'm ready to go!"

She Loves Kombucha

Vandervoort revealed in the caption of this Instagram post that she loves drinking kombucha to help with her digestion. “I have always had digestion issues. Lately I have been on a health journey from eating more protein, lifting heavier weights, self love, proper sleep, therapy and focus. But, my digestion issues were still prominent. With new proteins and more nutrition dense foods going into my body, I needed an assist! I started drinking @tonicakombucha (to be honest) because I saw it at my grocery store. 🤣 I had tried other brands that I just didn’t love the taste of. After I tried @tonicakombucha I became obsessed not only with the taste and multiple flavor options but with the noticeable difference (I swear to you) in my digestion and gut health overall.”

She Strength Trains

Vandervoort likes to strength train to keep herself in shape. She shared this video on Instagram of herself doing exercises like lunges with a barbell and hip thrusts with a barbell. Vandervoort captioned it, “Back at it. Not feeling strong today after a week of vacation but showing up was the most important thing. Lower weights than normal which annoys me but listening to my body. This is the year I turn the big 40 😳 and I want to come at it strong.”

She Isn’t Hard On Herself

Vandervoort revealed in the caption of the previous Instagram post that she is working on not being hard on herself. “I am the hardest on myself. Frustrated today I had no balance, was distracted and couldn’t push like I normally do. But I’m learning not everyday will be my best and that’s okay. Back to reality before the work week starts up. (I miss the beach 😂) - I chomp on gum the entire workout because for whatever reason it helps.”

The holidays are on the horizon, which means Hallmark Christmas movies are on the way—including Rescuing Christmas, with Rachael Leigh Cook. Cook, 44, clearly had a great summer filming, and shared a snap of herself on social media wearing a black bikini as she took part in a human pyramid on the beach in Vietnam. “What a ride. Eternally grateful for all these beautiful memories and also to everyone who came with us on the Tourist’s Guide adventure this weekend. We appreciate it more than you will ever know,” she captioned the post. Here’s how the star looks essentially the same as she did 20 years ago.

1. Retinol After 40

Cook is realistic and honest about maintaining her looks after 40. "First of all, I promise not to be one of those actresses who just gets on some soapbox and tells you to drink water,” she says. “We've heard enough of that, and nobody believes you! Being over 40, you should make friends with retinol. I definitely feel my age, but if I can not look it all the way, I'm a happy camper."

2. Vietnamese Cuisine

Vietnamese,Ph?,Beef,Noodle,Soup,Bowl,With,VegetableShutterstock

Cook fell in love with Vietnamese cuisine while filming Netflix romcom A Tourist's Guide to Love. "My favorite food that I haven't had as good a version of since I've been back is bánh xèo,” she says. “I ate it every single day we were in Hoi An and Da Nang. That crispy pancake with the vegetables in it, sort of folded into a ... you fold it in thirds. And then, it has beautiful dipping sauces. I'm still hungry thinking about it."

3. Nature Girl

Cook is happiest when she’s outside, calling herself a “nature girl”. “I love you! My kindest most beautiful girl in the world,” actress Tara Reid commented on a post of Cook posing with her pup. “You are an Angel who had a heart bigger then the world. I am so happy that you are my best friend. The smartest, clever, gorgeous person inside and out. I adore you 4 ever and ever and ever.💜😘”

4. Quirky Beauty

Cook never felt she had the right “90s” prettiness at the time. “I never saw myself as shiny and pretty in the way that someone like Jessica Alba or Jennifer Love Hewitt were then,” she says. “They were the pretty girls and I thought of myself as far quirkier. If that was true, I do not know. But I was never at the top of the pretty-girl list. I was not terrible-looking by any stretch! But there were so many stop-you-in-your-tracks beauties working at that time. I think I filled the role of ‘identifiable girl-next-door type’.”

5. She’s a RomCom Queen

Cook embraces her particular niche in Hollywood as a romantic comedy star. "I can't seem to help myself,” she says. “I can't stray too far from the genre. It keeps being where my heart feels at its center. It's where my sensibilities lie. It's where my personal tastes lie. It's positive, feel-good content. And I love love. I don't know what to tell you."

Riverdale star Camila Mendes is living a more low-key life. “I think before the pandemic, I was running a mile a minute,” she told SELF. “And being forced to stop and take stock of my priorities was very life-changing. I think when something like a pandemic happens, it just puts everything into perspective, and you realize how short life is. [I feel like] my whole life, I sat in the flat in my pants and didn’t achieve much and then
I had kids and suddenly had no time, was absolutely exhausted, and found myself achieving more than I had before, so that was a revelation. I think I had the luxury of too much time and not enough discipline. Now, when I’m away from them, I’m not going to waste that.”

Paula Newsome talked about her role on CSI and the impact she has had in an interview with Essence. “Perspective is everything,” she said. “When you’re looking through the lens of someone who has experienced something or if you’re looking at a crime of people that look like you, you’re going to look at it differently. . . Even when I eat an incredible amount of food, it never slows me down. There are a lot of grains, beans, fruits, and vegetables.”

Los,Angeles,-,Nov,09:,Sofia,Milos,Arrives,For,Bet+Shutterstock

Sofia Milos tells The Hollywood Times that she wants to support and empower other women. “I would also like to see more women in position of power, for instance, more woman producers and directors. Really, I’d like to see more woman doctors and politicians. Let’s talk about the Weinstein situation for instance. I say this is much bigger than Weinstein, because this has been going on for a long time and not just in US or just in the entertainment industry, because it is still a man-dominated world. There are men in all walks of life that basically blackmail young women into giving them sexual favors in order to win a role or keep their jobs or get promotions or get a deserved break. And it’s not OK to have young vulnerable women led to believe that these men in power can abuse of their status and get away with it as they have done for a long, long time.”

Captioning her post, “They don’t call it ‘the land of smiles’ for nothing,” Monaghan exudes joy and confidence. But her radiant energy isn’t just from soaking up the sun—she’s committed to staying active and prioritizing her well-being. From outdoor adventures to mindful workouts, here’s how she keeps herself feeling strong and balanced.

She Works Out Regularly

Monaghan shared some of her wellness secrets in an interview with InStyle. She says that she makes sure to workout on a regular basis, and shared how she stays motivated to do so. "I try to do something physical at least five times a week whether I'm with my trainer or at SoulCycle. Working toward a goal, like landing a stunt, helps me stay committed."

She Spends Time Outside

As you can see from her Instagram post, Monaghan likes to spend time outside. She does a lot of outdoor workouts to keep herself in shape, and shared some of her favorites in her InStyle interview. "I spend most of my time in Los Angeles, so I hike. If I'm near warm water, I'll surf. I just love the outdoors."

She Loves Her Body

Monaghan makes sure to love her body. She shared why she does so in an interview with Shape Magazine. "I also need to be an example for my daughter. That means I can't run around worried about what I look like. We're active together as a family — the kids go hiking and biking with us. But I don't obsess about what I eat. I love my shape because I know what it's capable of — running 13 miles, having two children, and learning to surf. I love my body so much; it's profoundly amazing. I have enormous gratitude for it."

She Eats Healthy

Monaghan makes sure to eat healthy, and broke down her diet to Shape Magazine. "I have never liked fruit. To make up for it, I have a green juice every morning, which is totally devoid of fruit but has tons of vitamins from vegetables. A typical day of eating for me is eggs or oatmeal for breakfast, soup or salad for lunch, and fish or meat and lots of veggies for dinner. I don't have a sweet tooth; I have a savory tooth. There are six or seven cheeses in my fridge at all times. My idea of snacking is putting cheeses on a platter with prosciutto and crackers and sitting in front of it and stuffing my face."

She Does Pilates

Monaghan likes to do Pilates to keep herself in shape. She shared a video on Instagram of herself doing exercises on a reformer. Monaghan captioned the post, “Wishing everyone a happy Saturday! 💛I get asked about my fitness routine a lot and to be honest, I try everything - and sometimes - I do nothing at all! 🙋🏻♀️ Like life, my workout routine ebbs and flows. 🫶 Currently, I’m in love with Pilates, thanks mostly to @embench, founder of @pilathon in Miami. Pilates is a game changer for mind, body and spirit. 💫 I’ve been training at Emily’s studio for the last six months and I’ve never felt stronger, more flexible and grounded. 🥰”

Morgan Rose Moroney knows how to make every workout count—even as a new mom. The fitness trainer and influencer recently shared a full-body workout on Instagram, proving you don’t need hours in the gym to stay in shape. In the clip, Moroney powers through a series of strength-building moves like lunges, sit-ups, and pull-ups, all designed to maximize results in minimal time.

“Let’s freaking goooo!” she wrote in her caption. “Essentials full body for me, in & out of the gym in 30 mins. Perfect for this new Mumma or any busy bee 🐝🖤”

If you're looking for a quick, effective routine to boost strength and endurance, Moroney’s go-to moves are worth a try. Here’s what she does to stay strong.

She Lifts Weights

Moroney is seen doing exercises with weights in her Instagram video. ACE Fitness says that this has a lot of health benefits. “Using heavy weights increases intramuscular coordination, the number of type II motor units and the amount of muscle fibers engaged within a specific muscle. Have you ever felt your muscles shaking while lifting heavy weights? This is because you are recruiting and activating the larger type II muscle fibers, which are only stimulated to work when a muscle is challenged with heavy resistance or working to fatigue.”

She Does Pull-Ups

Moroney is also seen doing a variation of a pull-up in her Instagram video. Pull-ups have a lot of benefits. Gymless says, “Pull-ups can give size and strength to your upper body muscles. It allows you to target your lats, biceps, traps, and many more muscles. Practicing this consistently along with other variations that target different muscle groups, inevitably will give you the muscular aesthetics that you’re seeking. A study emphasized this by suggesting that this close kinetic chain exercise is designed to increase the muscular strength and endurance of the upper body and torso.”

She Does Lunges

Another exercise that Moroney is seen doing in her Instagram video is lunges. They are very beneficial. The Mayo Clinic says, “The lunge is a body resistance exercise that works the leg muscles. Specifically, the lunge targets the quadriceps and the hamstring muscles in the thigh, the gluteal muscles in the buttock, and to a lesser extent, the lower leg muscles.”

She Does Sit-Ups

Moroney is also seen doing sit-ups in her Instagram video. PCYC Queensland says that this exercise has a lot of benefits. “There are many benefits to incorporating sit-ups in your workout routine, such as improving core strength, stabilising your balance, improving your posture, and becoming more flexible…. Sit-ups are particularly effective for strengthening the core and toning the rectus abdominus, transverse abdominus, and oblique muscles.”

She Does Squats

Moroney likes to do squats to keep herself in shape. In December, she shared this video on her Instagram of herself doing squats with a barbell. Moroney captioned the post, “First time going heavier in squats since bub! Could be better, but could also be worse 😂Think I’m going to work towards a 100kg full depth squat in 2025 👏🏼”

She Does Mobility Workouts

Bisk shared her secrets for improving flexibility in the previous Instagram post’s caption. She says that she does a lot of mobility exercises. “Use mobility work as part of your warm up before you workout or run (can just 5min!). This is also a great way to encourage better form & technique when you train & prevent injury!”

She Does Strength Movements

In the caption of the previous Instagram post, Bisk revealed that she does strengthening movements to improve her flexibility. “Add strength movements to your workout that challenge your range. Think deeper squats or lunges with a wider stance AND try to do movements through their full range like pull ups from a FULL hang (muscle stretch) to a FULL chest lift & back squeeze (muscle contraction) at the top!”
