Lauren lost 10 pounds a few years back, revealing that putting down the bottle was crucial. "I've lost 6lb so far this month and I'm convinced it's because I'm not drinking alcohol. My face is a lot less bloated," the reality star wrote in a new! magazine column, per Good to Know. Not only is alcohol high in calories but impacts your inhibitions. Research has found that when you are drinking you are more likely to make poor decisions when it comes to your diet.

Lauren spends a lot of time strength training. "I've been going to the gym every day," she said. When she is there her routine is lifting "weights and using cardio machines like the treadmill." According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

She also revealed she was "mixing up" her routine. "I've been swimming," she wrote. "My aim is to do at least 60 lengths in the pool." Swimming is a good way to get regular aerobic physical activity, according to the CDC. Just two and a half hours per week of aerobic physical activity, such as swimming, bicycling, or running, can decrease the risk of chronic illnesses. In addition to the many physical benefits, there are multiple studies supporting the mental health benefits of swimming as well.

Walking

Lauren added that "long, brisk walks," were also helping her lose weight. Going for a daily walk can be a game changer in terms of exercise, especially at a brisk speed. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day led to a reduced risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.

Clean Diet
