Laverne Cox Attends Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter Tour In Swimsuit-Esque Look

Laverne Cox is a huge Beyonce fan, and she was lucky to get to see the Cowboy Carter tour this week. Laverne went with two of her friends, and they made sure to dress for the occasion. In some posts on Instagram, she is seen in a denim swimsuit with an American flag pattern, and a matching cowboy hat. Laverne’s amazing legs were on display in the posts. How does she keep herself in shape? Here are 5 of Laverne Cox’s wellness secrets.
She Doesn’t Go Too Hard In The Gym
Laverne makes sure to keep herself in shape, but that doesn’t mean she pushes herself too hard. “I’m not overachieving in fitness at the moment,” Laverne says to InStyle, as reported by Women’s Health. “I’m doing it, it’s not as high-level, but I like where I’m at with it now. It’s fun, it’s medicinal, and I’m not being hard on myself.”
She Focuses On Happiness
When it comes to taking care of her mental health, Laverne focuses on her happiness. She shared some of the things that make her happy to Health, via Prevention. “It might be a song. It might be the thought of a person. I’ll think about my boyfriend cooking breakfast for me and I just light up inside. We have to lean into those things that bring us joy. And the things that don’t, we need to let them go to protect our mental health.”
She Goes To Somatic Therapy
In an interview with The Cut, Laverne opened up about how therapy has changed her, specifically somatic therapy. “After Orange Is the New Black became a success, I was suddenly famous and stressed out, and my doctor in New York suggested somatic therapy,” she says. “The way it works is that you’re tracking your energy and what’s going on, physically. For example, I’ll go into a therapy session, and I’ll say, ‘I’m feeling really anxious today,’ and my therapist will ask me where in my body I feel it. It’s almost always in my stomach, sometimes in my chest. Then she’ll ask me where in my body it feels neutral or pleasant. Often that’s my ankle or my calf, and she’ll invite me to focus on that part of my body. Invariably, when I do that, the anxiety will dissipate a little bit or a lot.”
She Limits Meat
Laverne opened up about her wellness routine in an interview with The New York Times. She says that she currently eats a pescatarian diet. “I was vegan for four months last year, but then I did a food sensitivity blood work panel and found out I’m sensitive to soy. If you’re vegan and can’t eat soy, it gets real tricky. So I started eating fish again. I’m basically a gluten-free pescatarian.”
She Lifts Weights
Laverne does a lot of different things to keep herself in shape. She shared some of her favorites in her New York Times interview. “I just started lifting weights. For years, I was terrified of lifting because I was afraid of getting bulky. I’m pretty weak right now. I’m doing lots of repetitions.”
