Lindsey Gort in Workout Gear Encourages "Healthy Habits Via Running"
Lindsey Gort is an actress best known for her role as Samantha Jones on The Carrie Diaries. Lindsey says via Instagram, "i am not a runner. in fact, i've been told that i'm a bad runner. that i run funny. like phoebe in friends. i don't run on the weekends. i wasn't on the track team. but nevertheless. in 18 weeks. i will be running the nyc marathon. why did i sign up? i have no idea. i blame a night of too much wine and a lot of nostalgia for my early days living in nyc, plus admiration for my friend @giniferelaineking having just finished her first. so- here i go. 18 weeks to go. if you feel so inclined to donate to my run, i am raising money for @nyrr to help empower youth and communities to develop and encourage healthy habits via running." Humor aside, she's putting herself far outside her comfort zone, placing a lot of emphasis on the health benefits of running and getting into shape, encouraging others to do the same. What else does she do to stay fit? Here's what we dug up on Lindsey's self care and wellness routine.
She stays active with her husband
Having a partner that values staying active and healthy makes it much easier to stay on the right track together. "Married for nine years, flew by, a blink of an eye. i love you and us" โ a nine year haiku. i feel so lucky to have a husband that loves me more each day, makes me laugh, and always has my back, even when that back is aggressively panicked on a rock climb- army crawling up, laying flat til i stopped crying, or slowly walking across a via ferata bridge, audibly asking to the bridge to please not break. we are as strong as the rock and like the bridge, we will not breakโฆwell the bridge might break one day but we won't be on it cuz we aren't ever doing that climb again RIGHT?! love us, babe @beaulaughlin ๐โค๏ธ happy anniversary ๐พ๐" she said on Instagram.
She tries new activities
"May this week bring you the kind of pure childlike joy i felt riding this horse around Malibu like i was Cowgirl Barbie," Gort said on Instagram with a photo of her horseback riding! Horseback riding isn't just fun, it can have a lot of health benefits! According to heart.org, "maintaining good posture in the saddle ignites your core muscles," the article goes on to say that riding a horse for just 45 minutes can potentially burn up to 200 calories.
She enjoys a swim
Getting in the water in great for your mental and psysical health. "The perfect off the grid birthday getaway. i cannot say enough good things about this place. hot springs and hiking and cocktails, oh my. literal heaven on earth. thank you beau for the surprise. counting the days until we return. ๐ต๐๏ธ๐, Gort says on Instagram. According to the CDC, "water-based exercise offers physical and mental health benefits, including improved health for people with chronic illnesses like diabetes, heart disease, and arthritis."
She enjoys golfing
As seen in this video Gort posted on Instagram, she enjoys golfing! "One of the most significant health benefits of playing golf is its positive impact on cardiovascular health," according to Keiser University. "A typical round of golf involves walking several miles, especially if the player opts to forgo a golf cart and carries their clubs. This low-impact aerobic exercise increases heart rate and improves blood circulation, promoting cardiovascular fitness. Regular golfing can help reduce the risk of heart disease, lower blood pressure, and enhance the body's ability to utilize oxygen efficiently, leading to an overall improvement in your health."
She goes kayaking
In one of Gort's Instagram posts about marriage that reads, "marriage is an adventure if you do it right. it's been a honor to be co-captains with my hubs @beaulaughlin for these eight years. can't wait to see where we row off to next," she posted them enjoying a nice kayak adventure together on the water. That's not only a wonderful arm workout, but it takes some solid communication skills to do it together.
