Auston Kim is getting into the swing of things – in her workout gear. In a new social media post, the LPGA golfer hits the course, showing off her strong body in golf clothes. “Two weeks of learning and growing at @shopritelpga and @meijerlpga . Always thankful to work on the weekend, but still striving for more. Excited for the second major of the year. KPMG in the PNW this week, LFG!” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps.

1. Reading

Auston Kim.1Auston Kim/Instagram

Auston is a reader. In one of her Instagram Stories she reads The Fifth Risk by Michael Lewis on the beach. One Harvard study published in Social Science & Medicine found that people who read books regularly had a 20% lower risk of dying over the next 12 years compared with people who weren't readers or who read periodicals.

2. Hydration

Auston Kim.2Auston Kim/Instagram

Hydration is also important to her. Auston keeps a large water bottle with her so she remembers to drink enough water. According to the Mayo Clinic, hydration is important for a variety of reasons. Water helps get rid of waste through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements, keeps your temperature normal, lubricates and cushions joints, and helps protect sensitive tissues.

3. Strength and Weight Training

Auston Kim.3Auston Kim/Instragram

When she isn’t golfing you can find Auston in the gym. She is a fan of strength and weight training. “First off season lift,” she captioned an Instagram Story. “5 x 100 pounds,” she adds about the chest pressing video. In another clip she “works the posterior chain,” doing weighted, one-leg lunges. According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

4. Hiking

Auston also enjoys hiking when she is off the course. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:

  • Building stronger muscles and bones
  • Improving your sense of balance
  • Improving your heart health
  • Decreasing the risk of certain respiratory problems

5. Golf, Naturally

Golf is Auston’s main form of fitness. A comprehensive review published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine found that golf's health benefits are extensive, including mind, body, and even lifespan. Benefits include improved longevity, decreased risk of developing heart disease or suffering a stroke, good mental health, and improved strength and balance.

Gabriela Ruffels is one of the hottest new names and faces in the golf world. She is a 2024 rookie for the LPGA. Ruffels shares a lot of videos of herself on the course on Instagram. In May, she shared a video of herself shooting. Ruffels captioned the post, “Tuesday prep.” How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Gabriela Ruffels stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.

1. She Golfs

Since she plays golf, Ruffels is enjoying a lot of benefits. Circle Health Group states that golf is a great cardio workout. “Golf gets your circulation going, encouraging your heart to work more efficiently, and helping to build its muscles. So, golf exercises your heart and keeps your heart rate up. This will naturally lower your risk for heart disease and other cardiovascular issues, as well as potentially lowering your levels of ‘bad’ cholesterol. Regularly playing golf may even lead to an increase in life expectancy.”

2. She’s Competitive

Ruffels opened up about her career to Golf Digest. She says that she started out playing tennis and is very competitive. “Though I was done with tennis, I still needed something to compete in. I get that from my parents. They showed me that excellence comes from putting focused effort into a goal every day. I love that lifestyle. My brother, Ryan, was playing golf (he’s a professional golfer now, too), and my mom thought I might enjoy it. I joined Victoria Golf Club and took regular lessons. My brother has answered all of my golf questions from the start. Matches between us are super competitive, and he always tries to get in my head, so he credits himself with making me mentally stronger.”

3. She Plays Feel-Based Golf

Ruffels shared that she plays feel-based golf to Golf Digest. “In tennis, there’s no time to think about where your racket is or what angle your wrist is at. You must react to the shot that’s coming at you. I play my best golf when I react to each shot. It keeps me in the present and makes me a better ball-striker. I had a lot of fun in 2023. I won three times and finished No. 1 on the money list, earning my LPGA card.”

4. She Keeps Herself In Check

Ruffels shared with Golf Digest that she is working on keeping herself composed in competition. “I’ve been working with my dad on how to handle emotions in competition. He tells me to remain poised. I do that by not thinking too far ahead. One birdie is not the key to winning the tournament, and a double is not the end of the round. When you consistently practice this thinking on the course, it becomes a habit.”

5. She’s Confident

Competence,And,Confidence,Symbol.,Concept,Word,Competence,Confidence,On,WoodenShutterstock

Ruffels tells USA Today that she wants to maintain any confidence she has, and she says that this helps with golf. “Just having that confidence knowing that I played well last week and everything in my game felt really well and then just doing the same things, not thinking too much about it and riding with the confidence.”

Isabella Fierro is one of the newest names on the women’s golf scene. She is a rookie in the LPGA. In May, she played in the Women’s Open. Fierro shared a video of herself on the course on Instagram. She captioned the post, “US WOMENS OPEN Week. So excited to be here and can’t wait to tee it up this week. VAMOSSS.” How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Isabella Fierro stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.

1. She Golfs

Golf is one of the main ways Fierro stays in shape. Circle Health Group states that golf has a lot of benefits. “Golf is a sport that teaches accuracy, focus and concentration. It also encourages creativity and creative thinking, such as the foresight to visualize where and how far your shot will go. Hand-eye coordination is essential in golf – as is knowing where your ball landed. The course can often be a quieter place to learn these skills, without the roar of a crowd or the umpire's whistle to distract you.”

2. She Does Squats

Fierro shared this set of videos on Instagram of herself in the gym. She does a lot of squats to stay fit. Fierro is seen doing squats with a weighted bar and lunges. Allina Health states that squats are a great workout. “The squat is one of the all-around best exercises to do for your lower body. It strengthens and tones muscles in your thighs, butt and calves and improves posture, balance, flexibility and inner core strength. Squatting also improves bone mineral density to keep your bones strong.”

3. She Strength Trains

Fierro likes to strength train to stay in shape. In the previous Instagram post, she is seen using a weighted circle and a weighted ball. The Mayo Clinic states that strength training has a lot of benefits. “Strength training can reduce the signs and symptoms of many chronic conditions, such as arthritis, back pain, obesity, heart disease, depression and diabetes.”

4. She Follows Her Heart

Even,Fifty-fifty,Chance,Written,On,A,Blackboard.Shutterstock

Fierro opened up about her decision to go pro in an interview with LBGA. “It was a 50/50 decision,” remembered Fierro. “I really gave it a lot of thought, but I was very confident about my goals, about who I am, about my path and everything. My heart told me to turn pro.”

5. She Listens To Herself

Fierro tells LPGA that she is working on listening to herself. “One of my goals (this year) will be to listen to myself. How am I feeling? How am I performing? Having excellent communication with my team so everything runs smoothly. To feel very comfortable. Even if I’m not feeling comfortable every week because that happens to just play as calm as possible and have fun. Definitely make cuts. I’m aiming for a win for sure. I love to win like every other athlete. I would like to play in the Olympics too. That would be amazing.”

Mel Reid is playing golf – in her two-piece workout gear. In a new social media post the athlete shows off her amazing body in an exercise set while on the course. “Our ambassadors Mel Reid and Cameron Champ are ready for the action this weekend at the second annual @grantthorntoninv. Don’t miss the two players and their two tours come together for the most equal event in the game,” the Instagram post shared by Grant Thornton is captioned. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Mental Health

Mental,Health,Bulb,Word,Cloud,,Health,ConceptShutterstock

“Honestly, mental health is huge,” Mel told Golf. “It’s huge in all walks of life and I feel that athletes sometimes get a bad rap for speaking about it because we are seen as ‘superhuman.’ And I think there are some people out there who don’t know what we go through to be one of the best at what we do. I think social media has a lot to answer for also. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some Instagram and I really think there are some huge benefits from it, but I can certainly tell if I’m on it too much. I need to keep an eye on that,” she said. “Everyone should work on their mental health, though. It’s the foundation to everything. I’m really proud of the likes of Simone who is using her platform to speak about these issues that so many people can relate to. She has 100% of my support and I’ve been there and so I get it. And a side note: I’m also incredibly proud of the likes of Matt Wolf, too. It’s not an easy thing to do as people see it as a weakness. However I think the opposite: it’s strength beyond measure!!”

Snowboarding

When she isn’t golfing, you might find Mel on the mountains. “So I grew up basically playing every sport I could … skiing, tennis, hockey … but my main loves were snowboarding and football and still are when I’m not smacking a white ball around a field,” she told Golf. According to the University of Rochester, snowboarding, like skiing, is a great cardiovascular workout. “Because they are also weight-bearing exercises, they strengthen your bones as they tone your muscles,” they say. “Cardiovascular or aerobic exercises also work to reduce your risk for chronic diseases, and lower blood pressure. They also help you maintain a healthy body weight. Through regular aerobic exercise like skiing and snowboarding, you lower your risk of developing conditions like diabetes and heart disease, having a stroke, and perhaps even getting cancer.”

Running and Cycling

Mel uses cardio, “a 20-minute run or bike,” to deal with jet lag, she told Golf. The Cleveland Clinic explains that biking, a low-impact aerobic exercise, is great for building muscle, improving strength and flexibility, and improving balance. It can also boost mental health and help other health conditions, including arthritis.

Surfing And Paddle Boarding

Surf,Surfboard,On,The,Beach,At,SunsetShutterstock

Mel moved to Jacksonville, Florida and started getting into water sports.”The beauty of living in Jacksonville is paddle boarding or my new hobby of surfing. Surf wasn’t the best this week, though,” she said in the interview. According to the Australian government’s Better Health, surfing provides many health benefits including cardiovascular fitness from paddling, shoulder and back strength, which also strengthens from the paddling, and leg and core strength. “Once you’re standing up on the board, strong legs and a strong core will keep you up,” they say.

Here Is Her Workout

Mel revealed her workout to Golf, a density workout with side lunges, seated stretches, and basic calisthenics.

Goblet / Kettle Bell squat x 10

One-leg Push-ups x 5 each leg

Lunge Resistance Rotations x 5 each side

Professional golfer Danielle Kang is still on top of the world after taking part in opening day ceremonies for her hometown baseball team last year. Kang, 31, shared a video of herself wearing black leggings and a dark red sweatshirt, throwing the opening pitch at a San Francisco Giants game. “MLB Opening Day 🖤 SF born 🧡 my first pitch at @sfgiants is a core memory,” she captioned the post. Here’s what Kang’s training and wellness routine looks like.

1. Love For the Game

Kang had no intention of being a professional golfer growing up, and got into the game because of her brother. Now, she genuinely loves the sport. “My relationship with golf changed three or four years ago,” she told Golf Digest. “I love the game now. I love the process. I love getting better. I love working on shots and pulling them off during a tournament. I love making putts when I have to. I love everything about it.”

2. Taekwondo Training

Kang is an accomplished taekwondo devotee. “It built a foundation in my life,” she told Golf Digest. “I trained for more than 10 years. You learn discipline, respect, self defense, and hard work. The explosiveness of taekwondo is similar to the explosiveness in the golf swing. But I don’t do martial-arts workout classes anymore because I’m scared that I’ll get hooked. It happened with kickboxing. I had to stop cold turkey.”

3. Pilates and Yoga

Kang switches up her workouts, especially when she’s on the road. “I do whatever is at hand,” she told Adidas. “It’s important to get my body moving in different directions because I don't want it to be so stuck in just one sport and doing the same motions and bulking up my body. I like to do aerial, you know, the silks where you climb up and down the ropes? Or I find yoga places or do Pilates. And I've definitely done kickboxing before.”

4. Mental Health Support

Kang wants more athletes to feel comfortable asking for mental health support. “Seeking help for mental health needs to be normalized,” she told Golf Digest. “I’ve had help. I see a sport psychologist and a therapist so that I can talk about what I need to talk about. I lean on my friends a lot, too. However big or small the issue, I know I have to get my mind clear, so I can play. I also know it’s not always going to be clear. I’ve been learning to perform even when things are going on. I use box breathing [inhaling for four counts, holding your breath for four counts, exhaling for four counts and repeat] a lot on the course.”

5. She’s a Philanthropist

Kang is thrilled her platform means she can do charitable work. “Golf is something that I want to get better at every year,” she told Adidas. “It's something that I want to excel at. And my love for the sport hasn't gone away, not even a little bit. The fact that it's given me an opportunity, even outside of golf with organizations helping around the world, has given me an extra lift and extra inspiration in order to do better in golf, so that I can make even more of a difference."

Mariana Morais is showing off her ab-fab figure – in a two-piece exercise set. In a new social media post, the fitness influencer flaunts her fantastic figure in a brown sports bra and leggings. “Self Progress & Development is not always linear. Sometimes we take steps back & that’s just a sign to course correct so we can leap forward. If 2024 wasn’t the year you expected, use it as an opportunity to learn, grow, & carry on. It’s you VS you - continue to try, focus on consistency > perfection & you will prevail 🤎 rooting for us all to strengthen our mind & bodies this year,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Strength Training

Mariana relies on old-school strength training to keep her body toned. “Training till failure instead of reps + taking my ab routine up a notch by incorporating weighted exercises,” she wrote about one of her workout tactics. “I can feel my muscles being challenged and am in tune with my movements.” According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Prioritizing Digestion and Getting Blood Work Done

Other healthy habits? “Prioritizing digestion,” she writes in the same post. “Making sure I get enough fiber & starting off every morning with a juice cleanse. This has helped me feel so much better everyday.” She also gets regular blood work done. “So important to check your levels and know what’s going on in your body routinely! Don’t skip the doc apts, always better to be preventative.”

Hiking

Mariana enjoys hiking. “Elevation therapy,” she captioned a post from one of her fitness adventures. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:

  • Building stronger muscles and bones
  • Improving your sense of balance
  • Improving your heart health
  • Decreasing the risk of some respiratory issues

Mariana does reformer Pilates. “POV: Stepping into the prettiest torture chamber,” she wrote across a video of herself at the studio. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Emsculpt NEO

Mariana recently got an aesthetic body treatment, Emsculpt NEO. “I’ve heard all the rage about the benefits to spot reducing fat & toning muscle so I had to give it a try to target those pesky lower abs. It was a 10/10 & a great addition to my workout routine,” she wrote.

She’s Consistent

Last year, Culpo was preparing for her wedding. She told E! News that she made sure to be consistent with her wellness in order to prepare. “Really trying to dial in [on] what I eat, how I workout, the workouts that I do. Trying to get them in consistently because you only get married once and I want to feel my best. But this past season it was just hard being so far away from my normal routine and where I typically live."

She Keeps Her Skin Healthy While Traveling

Culpo has amazing skin, and she makes sure to take care of it, even while traveling. “I don't wear any makeup when traveling," she says to Travel + Leisure. "That's one rule because I do feel like you will have a higher chance of breaking out if you are wearing a full face of makeup. A few things I always have with me is some sort of a spray. I love Dr. Barbara Sturm or Caudalie or La Mer. I also absolutely love traveling with a makeup wipe, the Neutrogena wipes are great. Something to just take off the sweat you build up.”

She Keeps Her Skincare Simple

Culpo shared her skincare routines with Byrdie. She says that she keeps her morning and night routine simple. “I am always trying out new products, so what I gravitate toward is often changing. At night, I usually use an oil and a serum. Right now, I love the Clarins Double Serum. In the morning, I use a Vitamin C serum and an SPF, and, typically, I just rinse my skin with warm water instead of using a cleanser. It is something I swear by—it allows for the oils on my skin from sleeping to absorb naturally.”

She Uses Products With Vitamins

Culpo shared some of her favorite skincare products with Byrdie. She says that she uses ones that have vitamins in them. “I have noticed a huge difference in my skin with vitamin C and E. I love the Good Janes H2OMyGod Moisturizer—it's sort of an all-in-one moisturizer that has vitamin C and collagen peptides. As for vitamin E, I actually just purchase the oil from the drugstore. It is super cheap and great to put on any red marks I may get from an occasional breakout. The healing process is so much quicker when I am using Vitamin E oil.”

She Packs Healthy Snacks

Culpo makes sure to eat healthy. She shared some of the snacks she packs with her with Travel + Leisure. "I love the Kind bars. I love any sort of nuts, to be honest with you. They are a go-to snack for me. I would say Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0% and some almonds would be perfect! Also, electrolytes to stay hydrated or some sort of collagen beauty powder or something."

Abigail Ratchford’s amazing body has helped her become one of the most famous models on the internet. The 32-year-old, who boasts over 9.1 million followers on Instagram alone, attributes her measurement-defying body to a few simple habits. Here is everything she does to stay fit at 32.

She Follows 4 Diet Rules

Abigail swears that abiding by simple rules helps her stay in shape. “I can’t diet. That just doesn’t work for me,” she told New Beauty. “I started to be healthier by first cutting out soda. Then, I stopped eating after 7 p.m. Finally, I started really watching my portions so I was eating fewer calories every day. And water—lots and lots of water.”

She UsesMyFitnessPal

Abigail explains being accountable for what she eats is crucial. While it’s not “rocket science,” she does use the MyFitnessPal app to track her eating. “I’m the type of person who likes to eat what I want. The app can help anyone do that—you can still eat great food, you just eat less of it,” she added New Beauty.

Pilates

Golden girl Abigail Ratchford is spotted out on the town

Abigail is a fan of Pilates. “Group workout classes are so big right now, but I always get nervous around other people in settings like that. I have to go at my own pace without a bunch of distractions so, for me, Pilates with a one-on-one instructor works best. It’s not cheap, but then you also aren’t tempted to skip,” she said She added to Men’s Fitness via Muscle & Fitness that the workout “keeps you long and lean” — and the Mayo Clinic agrees. They say it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, relief from stress and back pain, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Balanced Diet

“I love green juices and smoothies. Sometimes I’ll put some protein powder in the morning—I feel like the mix of vegetables, and vitamins and stuff that’s in them, really gives me a lot of energy in the morning. I love BBQ food—my ultimate cheat is a pulled pork sandwich, sweet potato fries, and macaroni and cheese from this great place in LA,” she told Men’s Fitness.

Strength Training

Ratchford also lifts weights. “Initially, I made the mistake that a lot of girls do and I was only doing cardio. I just really didn’t see too much change in my body. I’ve been listening to my girlfriends who are in great shape and they say you have to do weight training, you have to go in and do squats. That’s my new thing—I’ve been doing some resistance training, circuit training,” she told Men’s Fitness. The Mayo Clinic explains that strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

Develop strong bones

Manage your weight

Enhance your quality of life

Manage chronic conditions

Sharpen your thinking skills
