Shona Manderson is taking a solo trip – in her swimsuit. In a new social media post the Married at First Sight UK star shows off her amazing body in a bathing suit while vacationing in Morocco. “Desert queen,” she captioned the Instagram post. “Solo trips for me are a practice of self love 🤍✨ taking time to collect my thoughts, journal & having the space away from everything to reset,” she captioned a separate video. How does the reality star stay fit? Celebwell compiled her top health habits.
1. She Does Yoga
Shona is an avid yogi. There is a laundry list of reasons to do yoga, explains Harvard Health. “Researchers found that people who practiced yoga for at least 30 minutes once a week for at least four years, gained less weight during middle adulthood,” they said. “People who were overweight actually lost weight. Overall, those who practiced yoga had lower body mass indexes (BMIs) compared with those who did not practice yoga. Researchers attributed this to mindfulness. Mindful eating can lead to a more positive relationship with food and eating.”
2. She Surfs
Shona also surfs. According to the Australian government’s Better Health, surfing provides many health benefits including cardiovascular fitness from paddling, shoulder and back strength, which also strengthens from the paddling, and leg and core strength. “Once you’re standing up on the board, strong legs and a strong core will keep you up,” they say.
3. She Drinks Coffee
One of the first things Shona does in the morning? Sips on a cup of hot coffee. According to the Cleveland Clinic, there are several benefits of drinking coffee in moderation. “It acts on your brain to improve memory, mood, reaction times, and mental function,” they say, citing a study finding that caffeine can improve endurance and performance during exercise. It is also antioxidant-rich, can ward off diabetes, prevent neurologic disease, lower cancer risk, and ward off depression, they point out.
4. She Hikes
Sona enjoys hiking. “Just a casual 2 day hike up an active volcano,” she captioned a post. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:
- Building stronger muscles and bones
- Improving your sense of balance
- Improving your heart health
- Decreasing the risk of certain respiratory problems
5. She Goes on Retreats
Shona takes care of herself by going on retreats. “I knew my journey on MAFS wasn’t going to easy to watch so after the wedding I flew out to Morocco to fill my week with yoga & high vibes on @soulbodyretreats and stayed for a few days on my own at @beagafay in the desert 🐫 it was so nice & calming to be surrounded by the women on the retreat who were all such beautiful souls & then waking up in the peaceful desert and seeing all the stars at night I felt so calm. Taking time to centre myself, waking up to this beautiful sunrise and remembering where I’m at now,” she captioned a post.
