Mariah Carey in "Workout Ensemble" Shares Exercising From Gym

Here are her go-to lifestyle habits.

Mariah Carey is breaking a sweat in her evening gown. In a hilarious new social media post, the singer shows off her incredible body in a right dress while exercising and also engaging in some other health habits. "I'm Mariah Carey. Of course this is my workout ensemble," she says in the video, doing a leg press in her gown to the tune of her own song, Obsessed. How does the legend approach health and wellness? Celebwell rounded up some of her top lifestyle habits.

Healthy Eating

Mariah tries "to stick with the proteins," when it comes to her diet. "It's the worst," she confessed to E! News, revealing that she eats a lot of salmon, which she says gets a tad boring. "But it works!" she added. In another interview with Shape she emphasized the importance of diet, claiming that "90 percent of losing weight is my diet."

Mariah's "one guilty pleasure, that she will never stop enjoying, is her wine," a source told Hollywood Life. "She likes to sip on a glass of red or white at the end of a long day and that's something that Mariah will probably never change." "Red wine, in moderation, has long been thought of as heart healthy," says the Mayo Clinic. "The alcohol and certain substances in red wine called antioxidants may help prevent coronary artery disease, the condition that leads to heart attacks."

Mariah invests several hours a week in exercise. Mariah works out three times a week, per Us Weekly. She added to Oprah that her workouts usually last for 60 to 90 minutes and are a combination of cardio with resistance training.

Mariah makes sure to get her steps in. While she's "never been a huge fan of going to the gym," according to the Hollywood Life source, "she always forces herself to go for a brisk walk everyday, even if it's on the treadmill." Going for a daily walk can be a game changer in terms of exercise, especially at a brisk speed. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day led to a reduced risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.

How does Mariah destress? In addition to writing and prayer, one of her "coping mechanisms" is "taking a bath," she told People. She isn't into bubbles. "I prefer the bath salts, and those can really be good, especially if you're a little sore or whatever, you can just soak in bath salts. My latest favorite are the orange ones. They're really good. Then there's the lavender ones that are really relaxing." She also enjoys bath salts. "Not the whole jug. And then some bath oils."

Mariah is a reader. "I'm Mariah Carey. Of course I'm reading my own book," she jokes in her recent Instagram post. One Harvard study published in Social Science & Medicine found that people who read books regularly had a 20% lower risk of dying over the next 12 years compared with people who weren't readers or who read periodicals.
