Maya Jama is a radio and TV presenter. She is best known for hosting Love Island and Radio One’s Greatest Hits. Last month, Jama took a trip to Dubai, and shared some highlights on Instagram. In it, she is seen going for a dip in a pool, eating at restaurants, going to the beach, and spending time with friends. She captioned the post, “It’s whatever, feeling good, living better.”

She Does Pilates

Jama loves to do Pilates to keep herself in shape. “Everyone I know is riding the Pilates wave, so I decided to start and I’m absolutely loving it," she told Women's Health. "I do one-to-one sessions with Marsha Lindsay at Nobu London and it’s great because it's a lighter workout but you're using every single muscle. You can also do it at midday, and it doesn’t leave you drenched with sweat. It’s the only form of exercise that I don’t have to talk myself into doing, and that's a big thing for me!"

She Works Out In The Morning

Jama has a busy schedule. For this reason, she likes to get up early to exercise. "When I’m away filming, I try to wake up early so I can fit in a workout before arriving on set. It helps get me in the zone," she told Women's Health. "I previously did a South African road trip with [personal trainer] Alice Liveing for work and she taught me that quality over quantity is key. I’m really busy at the moment so it’s easy to just say, 'I don’t have the time to work out', and quit. Alice showed me that it’s not how long you train for, but how you train that counts."

She Has A Workout Plan

Jama shared her workout plan in an interview with Women’s Health. “Before my trip to Australia for I’m A Celeb, I started a vigorous summer workout plan, which consisted of three sets of burpees, jumping squats and planks (non-stop for 20 seconds then 40 seconds rest), followed by seated shoulder presses (three sets of ten reps), squats (three sets of ten reps), crunches (three rounds of 20 seconds non-stop plus a 40 second rest) and press-ups (three sets of ten reps).”

She Eats Healthy

Jama makes sure to eat healthy. She is seen enjoying fish and pasta in her Instagram post. Jama talked about her diet to The Telegraph. "I’m rubbish at cooking, so I swerve the kitchen unless my brother is staying or I’m having a dinner party. Lunch is always a pasta pot with a Greek salad, simple stuff. I eat a lot of carbs and enjoy meat or fish with potatoes and salad.”

She Swims

Jama likes to swim to keep herself in shape. She is seen enjoying time in the pool in her Instagram post. The Mayo Clinic states that swimming has a lot of health benefits. “Swimming is often touted as a great workout for all ages, offering benefits not only for the body, but also for the mind. As a form of exercise, swimming keeps your heart rate up and builds muscle strength. It also can be a great form of stress relief.”

1. She Uses Face Masks

Jama makes skincare a priority. She revealed some of her secrets to WhoWhatWear. Jama says that she uses face masks from her collection of products. “If you've had a long day or late night, you're a bit run down or you just want to have a bit of a pamper, then the masks are perfect."

2. She Doesn’t Use Too Many Products

Jama tells WhoWhatWear that she tries to not put too many products on her skin. She says that she opts for a simpler approach. “In the morning, I try and use only a couple of products. I feel like when I use toners and everything else it doesn't really agree with me, so I'm more of a cleanser, cream, face mask kind of girl.”

3. She Uses Sunscreen

Jama makes sure to protect her skin from the sun. She tells WhoWhatWear that she always uses sunscreen. “Because it's so bloody hot in London at the moment, I'm using an SPF. I know that I need to use it every day, but I'm new to the SPF life. I had a struggle with them for years because sun cream would always just make me look really white, but now, I know they're getting better.”

4. She Changed Habits To Help With Her Skin

For Jama, skincare isn’t just about using products. She tells WhoWhatWear that she changed some of her regular habits to help herself out. “I realised that when I cut down a lot on sugar, my skin got way less spotty. I used to be eating ice cream pretty much every day and then I stopped doing that, and I stopped getting forehead spots! And just not touching your face as much
making sure your phone screen is clean and your pillowcases and stuff. I didn't even realise that was a thing, but I take more notice of what I'm putting up to my face now.”

5. She Prioritizes Her Workouts

MayaJamaMaya Jama/Instagram

Jama has a busy schedule, which means she doesn’t always have time to workout on a regular basis. However, she tells Women’s Health that she makes her workouts more intense, because she isn’t sure when she can get another one in. “It’s difficult with the job I have,” she says. “I can’t schedule workouts in advance. I have to grab them when I can, so I want to use that training time wisely.”

1. She Works Out Early When Filming

Maya-JamaMaya Jama/Instagram

“When I’m away filming, I try to wake up early so I can fit in a workout before arriving on set. It helps get me in the zone,” she has said. “Early-morning cardiovascular workouts are well-supported to improve concentration and energy for the rest of the day. They also may have the added benefit of improving sleep quality for some people,” says the Mayo Clinic. “Think of something that will really get you moving every day. Maybe it takes posting a picture from your healthier days on the fridge. Or perhaps you wish to keep up with the kids. Whatever it may be, make sure it gets you moving each and every time.”

2. This is How Often She Works Out

“'I have loads of energy so lately I’ve been trying to channel that into an exercise routine. But I’m still very much a beginner. I now work out three to four days a week because I know it’s an important part of keeping healthy,” she said, according to Women’s Health. “Here's what the research says: A single exercise session that gets your heartrate up can lower blood pressure, improve sleep, lower anxiety and improve insulin sensitivity on the day you do it. Other benefits, like lowering your risk of many chronic diseases and cancers, start adding up within days or weeks of regular physical activity,” says the Mayo Clinic. “Regular activity sets you up to stay independent as you age, and lowers your risk of fall-related injuries. For many people with chronic conditions, it can lower your risk of all-cause and disease-specific mortality.”

3. She Lifts Weights

Maya lifts weights to feel strong. “I love feeling strong, but I’m not naturally like that. From an early age I’d be trying to use my mum’s weight to do deep squats and build bigger legs,” Maya says to Stylist UK. “In the first lockdown, I lived with friends and we all worked out together. It was good because when one person wasn’t feeling it, the others would get you in the mood,” Maya adds. “It’s harder, now I’m on my own.”

4. She Incorporates Fitness Into Her Daily Life

“Every morning I put good music on and dance around my bedroom or run up and down the stairs. I’ve found wearing ankle weights really useful, putting on thick socks and weights while I do my daily activities for some extra resistance. And I’ve got a bike in front of my TV so I can jump on that when I’m watching something,” Maya told Stylist UK.

5. She Does Squats

“Once you are at the bottom of your squat, check your form in the mirror. Are you sitting parallel to the floor? As you stand up, push your heels into the ground to generate a greater force. This is especially helpful once you start adding more weight. Focus on squeezing your glutes at the top of the squat as you come back to a standing position. Look straight ahead to help keep your shoulders back and your back straight while performing the squat,” says ACE Fitness.

Former Little Mix star Jesy Nelson has turned her health and fitness around—and it shows. The singer posted a series of sultry pictures of herself looking confident in a pink patterned bathing suit with a matching jacket. How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 7 ways Nelson stays in shape and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bathing Suit Photos!

1. She Prioritizes Mental and Physical Health

jesy-nelson-2Jesy Nelson/Instagram

Nelson has spoken about crash dieting to get in shape for a music video, and vows never to do that again. “On the day of the Sweet Melody video I had a panic attack on set because I didn’t look how I wanted to look and I found it so hard to just be happy and enjoy myself.” she says. “I was sobbing in the dressing room. Someone really close to me said, ‘This has got to stop. You can’t keep doing this to yourself. You’re going to end up where you were before.’ For me that was the pinnacle point. I was like, ‘I need to start taking care of myself now because this isn’t healthy.’ It wasn’t nice for the other three to be around someone who didn’t want to be there.”

2. She Loves Boxing

jesy-nelson-1Jesy Nelson/Instagram

Nelson regularly incorporates boxing into her workouts. "This kind of boxing has many health benefits, because it constantly requires you to think, change your position, and change your posture," says physical therapist Linda Arslanian, director of rehabilitation services at Harvard-affiliated Brigham and Women's hospital. "You're swinging your arms, moving the muscles of your arms and shoulders, increasing your upper-body strength. And when you're in the boxer crouch with a wide stance, with your knees slightly bent, you're strengthening your core muscles, back, and legs.”

3. She Loves a Cheeky Nandos

National Television Awards 2020 - VIP ArrivalsDave J Hogan/Getty Images

Nelson is a big fan of South African fast-casual chain Nandos, which specializes in chicken dishes. “Baked chicken serves as a rich source of protein,” says Sylvie Tremblay, MSc. “A 4-ounce serving of chicken leg meat contains 27.5 grams of protein, while an equivalent serving of baked chicken breast contains 35 grams. You use this protein as a source of amino acids, which help maintain your tissues and allow you to heal after injury. A 4-ounce serving of baked chicken counts as 4 ounce equivalents of protein, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture food guide, and helps you reach the 5 ounces recommended daily for women or 6 ounces for men.”

4. She Practices Body Positivity

Nelson is honest about her looks, telling fans appearances can be misleading. "I always get a lot of people comment on my abs in photos but I promise you I actually don't have abs lol,” she says. “I'm very lucky that when I breath in for [my pictures] I get these weird little indents that come sometimes look like I have abs. Anyway I'm here to tell you I DONT have abs ladies and this is what my chocolate loving belly really looks like. I'll never ever be a size 8 which is genuinely what I dreamt of being, but I've come to terms with the fact that I bloody love my food and that will never change."

5. She Accepts Her Unique Body

Capital Jingle Bell Ball - Day 1 ArrivalsKarwai Tang/WireImage

Nelson has made it clear she will never follow the restrictive and damaging weight-loss methods she tried earlier on in her career. Instead, she appreciates the changes her body goes through. "We're all different shapes and sizes and that's what makes us unique,” she says. “I'll never sit here and preach and say I love my body because I don't, but I'm slowly starting to just accept it for what it is and sometimes I'm gonna put on weight and sometimes I'm gonna go to the gym and lose it, either way girlies one day we will be really old and look back at our pics and think god I was actually banging why did I worry so much. Anyway I'm rambling on now but you're all beautiful in your own ways and I hope you all know that."

1. Work Out Regulary

Maya prioritizes exercise, getting up early to get her sweat on. “I try to wake up early so I can fit in a workout before arriving on set. It helps get me in the zone,” she told Women’s Health. She also works out regularly. “I now work out three to four days a week because I know it’s an important part of keeping healthy,” she added.

2. Do HIIT Style Workouts

Maya has a “quality over quantity is key” approach to exercise, explaining “it’s not how long you train for, but how you train that counts.” She does mostly high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workouts. An example of her “vigorous summer workout plan” consists of three sets of burpees, jumping squats and planks (non-stop for 20 seconds then 40 seconds rest), followed by seated shoulder presses (three sets of ten reps), squats (three sets of ten reps), crunches (three rounds of 20 seconds non-stop plus a 40 second rest) and press-ups (three sets of ten reps).

“Although, I prefer weight training on the machines and I still do some cardio. I usually ease myself in with a run or fast walk on the treadmill,” she said.

3. Find Workout Buddies

Workout buddies keep Maya accountable. “In the first lockdown, I lived with friends and we all worked out together. It was good because when one person wasn't feeling it, the others would get you in the mood,” she told Stylist.co.

4. Recover

Maya also helps her body to recover. One of her go-to practices? She takes baths infused with CBD. “When I have something really important on the next day I have a really hot bath before bed with CBD oil in the bath so it's really steamy," Maya told Get the Gloss.

5. Box

Maya also loves boxing. “Once a week, I do a one-hour boxing workout with my trainer Bradley Simmonds, who keeps me motivated; if I’m on my own, I’ll pump up high-energy songs like Bicycle by Vybz Kartel to get me through my workout,” she told Women’s Health.

Mariana Morais is showing off her ab-fab figure – in a two-piece exercise set. In a new social media post, the fitness influencer flaunts her fantastic figure in a brown sports bra and leggings. “Self Progress & Development is not always linear. Sometimes we take steps back & that’s just a sign to course correct so we can leap forward. If 2024 wasn’t the year you expected, use it as an opportunity to learn, grow, & carry on. It’s you VS you - continue to try, focus on consistency > perfection & you will prevail đŸ€Ž rooting for us all to strengthen our mind & bodies this year,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Strength Training

Mariana relies on old-school strength training to keep her body toned. “Training till failure instead of reps + taking my ab routine up a notch by incorporating weighted exercises,” she wrote about one of her workout tactics. “I can feel my muscles being challenged and am in tune with my movements.” According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Prioritizing Digestion and Getting Blood Work Done

Other healthy habits? “Prioritizing digestion,” she writes in the same post. “Making sure I get enough fiber & starting off every morning with a juice cleanse. This has helped me feel so much better everyday.” She also gets regular blood work done. “So important to check your levels and know what’s going on in your body routinely! Don’t skip the doc apts, always better to be preventative.”

Hiking

Mariana enjoys hiking. “Elevation therapy,” she captioned a post from one of her fitness adventures. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:

  • Building stronger muscles and bones
  • Improving your sense of balance
  • Improving your heart health
  • Decreasing the risk of some respiratory issues

Pilates

Mariana does reformer Pilates. “POV: Stepping into the prettiest torture chamber,” she wrote across a video of herself at the studio. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Emsculpt NEO

Mariana recently got an aesthetic body treatment, Emsculpt NEO. “I’ve heard all the rage about the benefits to spot reducing fat & toning muscle so I had to give it a try to target those pesky lower abs. It was a 10/10 & a great addition to my workout routine,” she wrote.

She’s Consistent

Last year, Culpo was preparing for her wedding. She told E! News that she made sure to be consistent with her wellness in order to prepare. “Really trying to dial in [on] what I eat, how I workout, the workouts that I do. Trying to get them in consistently because you only get married once and I want to feel my best. But this past season it was just hard being so far away from my normal routine and where I typically live."

She Keeps Her Skin Healthy While Traveling

Culpo has amazing skin, and she makes sure to take care of it, even while traveling. “I don't wear any makeup when traveling," she says to Travel + Leisure. "That's one rule because I do feel like you will have a higher chance of breaking out if you are wearing a full face of makeup. A few things I always have with me is some sort of a spray. I love Dr. Barbara Sturm or Caudalie or La Mer. I also absolutely love traveling with a makeup wipe, the Neutrogena wipes are great. Something to just take off the sweat you build up.”

She Keeps Her Skincare Simple

Culpo shared her skincare routines with Byrdie. She says that she keeps her morning and night routine simple. “I am always trying out new products, so what I gravitate toward is often changing. At night, I usually use an oil and a serum. Right now, I love the Clarins Double Serum. In the morning, I use a Vitamin C serum and an SPF, and, typically, I just rinse my skin with warm water instead of using a cleanser. It is something I swear by—it allows for the oils on my skin from sleeping to absorb naturally.”

She Uses Products With Vitamins

Culpo shared some of her favorite skincare products with Byrdie. She says that she uses ones that have vitamins in them. “I have noticed a huge difference in my skin with vitamin C and E. I love the Good Janes H2OMyGod Moisturizer—it's sort of an all-in-one moisturizer that has vitamin C and collagen peptides. As for vitamin E, I actually just purchase the oil from the drugstore. It is super cheap and great to put on any red marks I may get from an occasional breakout. The healing process is so much quicker when I am using Vitamin E oil.”

She Packs Healthy Snacks

Culpo makes sure to eat healthy. She shared some of the snacks she packs with her with Travel + Leisure. "I love the Kind bars. I love any sort of nuts, to be honest with you. They are a go-to snack for me. I would say Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0% and some almonds would be perfect! Also, electrolytes to stay hydrated or some sort of collagen beauty powder or something."

Abigail Ratchford’s amazing body has helped her become one of the most famous models on the internet. The 32-year-old, who boasts over 9.1 million followers on Instagram alone, attributes her measurement-defying body to a few simple habits. Here is everything she does to stay fit at 32.

She Follows 4 Diet Rules

Abigail swears that abiding by simple rules helps her stay in shape. “I can’t diet. That just doesn’t work for me,” she told New Beauty. “I started to be healthier by first cutting out soda. Then, I stopped eating after 7 p.m. Finally, I started really watching my portions so I was eating fewer calories every day. And water—lots and lots of water.”

She UsesMyFitnessPal

Abigail explains being accountable for what she eats is crucial. While it’s not “rocket science,” she does use the MyFitnessPal app to track her eating. “I’m the type of person who likes to eat what I want. The app can help anyone do that—you can still eat great food, you just eat less of it,” she added New Beauty.

Pilates

Abigail is a fan of Pilates. “Group workout classes are so big right now, but I always get nervous around other people in settings like that. I have to go at my own pace without a bunch of distractions so, for me, Pilates with a one-on-one instructor works best. It’s not cheap, but then you also aren’t tempted to skip,” she said She added to Men’s Fitness via Muscle & Fitness that the workout “keeps you long and lean” — and the Mayo Clinic agrees.
