Meghan King in Bathing Suit is "Parched Over Here"
The Real Housewives of Orange County star Meghan King is showing off the results of her disciplined workout and diet regimen by posting selfies on social media. King, 38, shared pictures of herself wearing a green bikini and black sunglasses, posing in front of a bathroom mirror. "Anybody have some water? Parched over here 💦," she captioned the post. "How could you have had twins?? You look amazing!!" a fan commented. How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways King stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.
Postpartum Personal Trainer
King worked out with a trainer after having her daughter Aspen in November 2016. "A lot of people have asked me how I got my body back after having Aspen – well this is it," she captioned an Instagram post. "Combined with breastfeeding, it was also important for me to consult someone who not only talks the talk, but walks the walks – @nancyandersonfit! She's a trainer and nutritionist (and fellow Mama!) who specializes in designing effective nutrition and workout programs for women (like me!)."
She Counts Calories
King tends to eat less when she's stressed, so she counts calories to ensure getting enough food every day. "This is the first time in my life I've counted calories and it's in the opposite way most Americans do so," she says. "I eat breakfast every day. That's easy. Lunch is hard because it's an annoyance: a stop in the middle of the day when I'm on a roll. So when I eat lunch I really go for it – all the carbs and all the protein. I don't snack – never have. Dinner can go either way. The kids are asleep so I have time to eat and I do but usually I'm not very hungry."
Lots of Water
King says the best beauty tip her mother gave her was to drink plenty of water. "I've found that water can have a significant impact in skin health," says Dr. Steven Deliduka, board-certified dermatologist with Forefront Dermatology. "Without adequate water intake, skin appears duller, and wrinkles and pores more prominent. Proper hydration levels help the skin to become plump and improves its elasticity meaning it's less likely to crack and have irritations and blemishes."
Lots of Yoga
King enjoys regular yoga sessions, including hot yoga. "Perhaps the greatest benefits of yoga is its ability to inspire and improve self-care and healthy living," says yoga instructor Mary Hazen. "As yogis tend to be more involved in their own health and care, they discover they have the power to effect positive change in their lives and tend to adopt more healthy habits. Over time, healthy living has a large impact on life expectancy."
Ice Skating
King loves skiing and ice skating with her family. "Ice skating is an activity where you work almost every major muscle group with an emphasis on the lower body and core (abdominal) muscles," says M. Kathryn Steiner, MD. "Maintaining your balance as you work yourself across the ice is a great challenge that engages your core and builds stability through the legs. Skating is a low impact activity, which causes less stress on the joints, in comparison to other exercises like running. However, once you begin jumping and spinning, skating can become high impact."
