The #1 Workout That Helped Meghan Trainor Lose 60 Pounds

Pop star Meghan Trainor rules the stage like a boss. In 2014, she broke out with hit song "All About That Bass," and followed it up with "Lips Are Movin,'" "Dear Future Husband," "Like I'm Gonna Lose You" with John Legend, and more. Trainor also won Best New Artist at the 2016 Grammy Awards. The singer has been open about body image and her weight-loss journey after having two children. She revealed on an episode of Today that she started lifting weights, which helped her lose 60 pounds.
The #1 Workout That Helped Meghan Trainor Lose 60 Pounds
During an appearance on the Today show, Trainor opened up about lifting weights and why she chose this effective workout to get back in shape.
"I try to go three times a week of lifting weights," Trainor said. "I didn't know lifting weights would change my life so much."
She seemed to prefer this workout method over cardio, adding, "I was like, dying, trying to run on the treadmill, and it made me swollen."
And that's not all—running after her kids gives the busy mom-of-two a solid workout as well. "I mean, look at those kids. I've got to lift them up and chase them. I'm exhausted," Trainor said.

She Works Out With Her Husband
Working out with a partner always serves as great motivation. Trainor harvested that concept, as she shared one of her workout secrets in an interview with Women's Health. She and her husband, actor Daryl Sabara, go to the gym together three times a week.
"I've been begging [Daryl] to join me so I'm not alone," Trainor said. "It's funny, I do hard stuff and he's like, 'I don't want to work that hard.' I'm like, 'But you should!'"

She Eats Protein
Trainor also changed her diet to lose weight. She told Women's Health that one of her goals was consuming plenty of protein.
"My managers and I are always talking about like, 'Oh my God, this is how I got 30 grams of protein at lunch today,'" she shared. "It's a goal and it's a dream when we actually hit our protein counts now."
The singer's breakfast consists of organic turkey bacon and two eggs. She said, "I want to mix it up, but I'm such a creature of habit that we'll do the same thing every day."
As for lunch and dinner, Trainor opts for meal delivery services that provide solid protein and carbs.
"I wish I knew how to cook. I make bland stuff," she said. "But my husband is a nerd about finding food delivery companies that give you protein and help you out with a journey like that. So we're always looking for a new one."
Touring can be challenging, but the superstar remains true to her healthy eating habits.
"I couldn't ever eat anything super bad," Trainor shared. "We went to one restaurant and we loved it, but I noticed I had heartburn. I had to be very strict with my eating before shows especially, because I would be burping on stage!"

She Doesn't Eat Junk Food

She Gets Restful Sleep
Sleep is another priority in Trainor's wellness routine—so much so, in fact, that she gets into bed at 8 p.m.
"When we put our kids to bed at night, my husband and I run to bed. We are in bed at eight," the singer said. "Sometimes we don't sleep until 10 and we'll have date night and watch movies, but we try to sleep as much as we can."
