MMA fighter Aspen Ladd isn’t going to let a little bit of rain stop her from enjoying her daily hikes in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Ladd, 29, shared a video of herself wearing orange shorts and a matching sports bra, standing outside in the cold weather. “Started this hike at sunny and 78 degrees, ended it at raining and 59 degrees. It was quite refreshing 🙂,” she captioned the post. Here’s how Ladd stays strong, happy, and fighting-fit.
1. Focusing On the Fight
Ladd focuses on the next fight and doesn’t dwell on what might happen after. “Every fight that I have is the end of the world,” she told UFC.com. “I don’t really look beyond it. I’m sure there’s people in general that I’d like to fight, but it’s not something I’m going to think about until after this one. That’s the most nerve-wracking point in my life. That’s the only time that I ever feel nerves. Not even the hand-wrapping or any of that. It’s the walkout until the ref says, ‘Go.’ It’s going to be an anxious moment. After that, it’s all good.”
2. Hiking With Her Dogs
Ladd loves to hike with her dogs in the Sierra Nevada mountains. The fighter posts pictures of the spectacular scenery almost every day. “Hiking through the summer rain before heading down to the California Capital Airshow 🛩️✈️🛩️today @capitalairshow . Come say hi 👋 if you see me !!!!” she captioned an Instagram post.
3. Meal Plans
Ladd is familiar with making cuts for weigh-ins, saying she knows to be strict. “I have a meal plan company, I have my coach and I have the PI so I’m utilizing it all together and they’re doing an extremely good job,” she told MMA Fighting. “I have things explained to me on a daily basis that I didn’t know before. Like there’s a difference between a water load and a water taper for example. It’s just there’s little things you’re going to learn the rest of your career. It’s the same as fighting. I’m never going to know all of it.”
4. Strength Training
Ladd does resistance training at the gym to stay strong and fit. This Instagram video shows the fighter using resistance bands to work out, holding one hand up while she works the other one. “Mornings,” she captioned the post. She also frequently gets a 5-mile run in before breakfast with her three dogs on the mountain trails.
5. Outdoors Lifestyle
Ladd is happiest out in nature with her pets. “Tonight’s lovely view, this particular trailhead is 20 minutes from my home . I went down the mountain this morning for boxing, and some rehab for the injury I’m currently healing up . It was a good day 🙂,” she captioned a post.
