Model Mimi Elashiry In Black Shorts Does Dance Workout In the Sun
Egyptian-Australian model Mimi Elashiry is working on her core strength after dealing with some injuries. Elashiry shared a video of herself wearing black shorts and a bikini top, doing a gentle dance workout in the sunshine. "Ah ~ back again. Slowly returning & building foundations, through consistent practice to rebuild my core after injuries…. I am Feeling the calling back to dance ~ deeply. 🌞 Feeling the call to training hard – trying hard – committing fully. Did I ever? 🤷🏽♀️ Now I can. 🤜🏽," she captioned the post. Here's what Elashiry's healthy and wellness routine looks like.
Ab Workouts and Yoga
Elashiry does "quirky" 8-minute ab workouts from YouTube and walks 6 miles on her rest days. "My exercise regime changes depending on where I am in the world!" she told Body + Soul. "I take dance classes when I'm in LA, and when I'm somewhere where I can't make it to ballet or dance cardio, I box, do yoga and go on long walks to keep fit. I exercise every day."
Trained Dancer
Elashiry is passionate about dance and movement, taking a 2-year course at Transit Dance in Melbourne. "Spending 5-6 hours a day with my body… most times very present, and connected to myself was amazing," she told The Upside. "It had its challenging moments. Doing 9.m.- 4 p.m. 5 days a week of classes on Zoom from my living room during most of 2020, dragging myself to class when I had my period and desperately wanted to rest and embody my inner winter, injuries and my ever-present tousle with wanting to be the best I can be, but lack of time due to work – modeling and traveling… to name a few. It wasn't all easy, but the challenges were what inspired the biggest growth."
Organic Whole Food Diet
Elashiry doesn't eat ultra processed foods, preferring organic ingredients from her farmer's market. "Whole foods have no added saturated fat, salt or sugar," says the British Heart Foundation. So eating lots of whole foods can help you lower the amount of these additives in your diet, which is good for your cholesterol levels, blood pressure, and weight."
Healthy Travel Tips
Elashiry has good advice for staying healthy while traveling. "Eat good quality food – that's no plane food! Ever!" she told Body + Soul. "Take your own food on the journey, and when you're overtired, try not to overeat. Opt for a veggie juice, a herbal tea and lay off the caffeine if you've been on a long-haul flight, and when you land, try and do some gentle exercise in the sun to tune your body into the timezone – whether that's walking, yoga or swimming."
Vedic Meditation
Elashiry starts every day with a meditation session. "I have just recently completed my Vedic meditation course, although I have been learning Vedic meditation since 2017," she told The Upside. "So now I always meditate for 22 minutes in the morning/mid morning (depending on how drowsy I am). I like to be fully awake."
