Natalie Eva Marie knows how to make an entrance—whether in the ring or at a high-energy event. The former WWE star, Total Divas alum, and Celebrity Big Brother contestant recently took over Miami with Reign Body Fuel, celebrating the brand in style. Dressed in a sleek two-piece workout set, she shared the moment with fans, writing, “Let’s go! Grateful for this journey.” But keeping up with her intense schedule takes discipline, especially when it comes to her fitness and diet. From HIIT workouts to intermittent fasting, here’s how she stays in peak shape.
She Eats Natural Foods
Marie shared some of her diet secrets with Glamour. "I follow the Paleo diet,” she says. “It's a trendy name for a common sense way of eating: grass-fed and natural meats, organic non-GMO veggies and fruit, raw nuts. Nothing processed and nothing tampered with. So I try my best to stay away from anything packaged or processed, but I do have my days!"
She Cooks
Marie likes to cook. In her Glamour interview, she shared her recipe for a bison burger with eggs. "Mix the Everything Seasoning into the ground bison and form the patties. Cook in pan on a medium heat, roughly six minutes on each side. (If it's not too cold out to barbecue, then do that—grilled tastes best!) Cook eggs sunny side up, then serve the burgers with an egg on top."
She Doesn’t Track Her Diet
Marie tells GQ that while she eats healthy, she doesn’t pressure herself to eat certain things. “At first, I tried things like inputting fat and carbohydrate and protein grams into my phone, but that really just stressed me out because I was thinking way too much— when all of a sudden, my fats were too high, or I had eaten too many carbs, or my calories had exceeded the number I had in mind for the day. Once I started to take away the pressure to hit an exact amount and instead focused on rough estimates, it started to become less stressful.”
She Does HIIT
Marie shared with GQ that she loves doing HIIT workouts. “In WWE, I focused more on Olympic lifting. I had to make sure that I was physically able to lift another human being at all times. Now, I’m going for a different, leaner look. High-intensity interval training and Tabata workouts are really good for me, because they prevent me from getting bored, and don't require me to be in the gym for two hours. I can get in, do what I need to do, and get out.”
She Intermittent Fasts
Marie tells GQ that she occasionally intermittently fasts. “I do it about two to three times a week. I have a lot of stomach issues, just from when I was a little kid, and fasting helps with my digestive system. I really enjoy it, but first, see if your body can handle it. A lot of people have trouble because they’re so focused on the idea of ‘I can’t eat for this certain amount of time,’ and then they can’t function. The key for me is making sure I’m taking a branched-chain amino acids supplement. When I'm fasting, I’ll take BCAAs in the morning before my workout, and again afterwards. Doing that helps me avoid feeling tired or lethargic.”
