New Amsterdam star Alison Luff spent the last days of summer soaking up the sun in Positano, Italy, on what looked like a babymoon trip. Luff, who plays Alice Healy on the show, shared highlights from her trip, including a beautiful picture of herself posing on the beach in a bronze bikini. “Positano Party of 3 Humpty Dumpty Dump 🌊,” she captioned the sweet post. Luff is a stage actress as well as screen—here’s how she feels about the characters she plays.

1. Guitar Player

Luff is a musician as well as an actress, and shares videos of herself playing guitar on social media. “Studies have shown that music training improves cognitive abilities (e.g., working memory, attention and inhibition) across our life span,” says Patricia Izbicki, PhD. “This has been shown with both short-term and long-term music training. Because playing an instrument requires many different areas of the brain, it strengthens a variety of neuronal connections.”

2. Feminine Strength

Luff loves portraying a feminine type of strength with her role as Stacie in Heels. “When I originally read the season one [script], I saw strength within Staci, and I knew that ‘Okay, there’s different ways to show strength.’ Some people would say, ‘Oh, she’s just a mom,’ but she is maintaining her entire household,” she says. “There is strength in that, and it’s so easy to look at strength through like a masculine lens and be like, ‘Oh, strength is just money or physicality.’ I think the great thing that these writers have done is show the strength in these women that through — not to genderize it, but through a feminine lens. Staci’s strength is loyalty. Her strength is nurture; her strength is maternal. Her strength is accountability and action, and it’s not athleticism. It’s not physical strength, but she does have these other strengths.”

3. Love for Theater

Theater star Luff developed a deep affection for Jimmy Buffet after starring on the stage production of Escape to Margaritaville. “I haven't told him this but I want to call him Uncle Jimmy,” she says. “And I don't know if he'll be okay with this, but I feel like he would be because he's a great guy. He's so fun. He's always around. I mean, he's a really very busy man, but he's always around. And when he is around, he's always giving his input, and he's always being supportive. The other day, the second to last run-through we had in the rehearsal studio, he was laughing like he had never seen the show before. And there were a couple new parts that he hadn't seen, and I'm looking over to see if he's laughing and then he is and I'm like, ‘Yes!’”

4. Be Kind

Quote,-,Kind,People,Are,My,Kinda,PeopleShutterstock

Luff says playing Jenna in Waitress taught her to embrace her own imperfections. "Jenna has been such a gift and it's been a dream role," she says. "There are so many lessons she's taught me like leaning into the imperfections of who you are, because her imperfections really shine. The line we always remember is, 'She's messy but she's kind.' Kindness will go a long way and things can get messy, but as long as you stay true—you're going to stay on track."

5. Confidence In Herself

Luff gained confidence in herself when she stopped trying to be better than her peers at doing the same parts, like the role of Jenna. "I think I really started to own myself and my career when I realized I can't do what they do better,” she says. “I need to figure out what I do best and what I can offer that no one else can. [Jenna] was a dream role of mine back when I saw [Waitress] in November 2016. The first five minutes of watching it I had tears in my eyes, I turned to my husband and said, 'I have to do this.' I think about that almost every night when that curtain goes up. I like the imperfect nature of the story. It's hard to make an affair a love story and make people root for it. I really love doing it."

Nina Dobrev, star of the Netflix hit Love Hard, was with boyfriend Shaun White at the Olympic games, cheering on the legend—but on social media, she was underwater, swimming with sharks. Dobrev was just one of many celebs who shared photos of themselves from tropical locales—in her case, on a tour with One Ocean Diving, in a throwback photo. We also spotted Ashanti in paradise, Dua Lipa and Chantel Jeffries in Miami, and many more. How do they all stay so fit while keeping so busy? Read on to see all the ways these celebrities stay in shape and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bathing Suit Photos!

1. Nina Dobrev

nina-dobrev-1Nina Dobrev/Instagram

When it comes to her diet, Dobrev says that she has changed her outlook on eating in recent years. “I used to eat three full meals and then I would not be able to move after each meal,” she told Shape. “I would be so full and tired. Now, I eat all the time but portion control is what’s important for me—I’m eating more in total but not more at a time.” "A portion is the amount of food you put on your plate, while a serving is an exact amount of food. To get a better handle on what you're eating, you could carry around measuring cups. Or you could use everyday objects as reminders of appropriate serving sizes, which is what the Mayo Clinic Diet recommends," says the Mayo Clinic. "Many foods match up to everyday objects. For example, a medium pepper is about the size of a baseball and equals one vegetable serving. While not all foods match visual cues, this method can help you become better at gauging serving sizes and practicing portion control."

2. Ananya Panday

Actress Ananya Panday wore a tight yellow dress to advertise her latest film, Gehraiyaan, on Amazon Prime video on Instagram—and also shared a trailer from the movie. In addition to being an actress, Panday has also launched her own fitness program. When it comes to losing weight, Collins told the Daily Star that she likes to take supplements to prevent her from snacking too much. “When I take a Forza Raspberry Ketone in the morning and afternoon, my snacking habits are being curbed. They are like willpower in pill form. I feel more energized and taking the capsules has not really affected my lifestyle at all.”

4. Ashanti

Singer Ashanti wore a floral bikini and posed poolside on Instagram this week. In 2019, while promoting her film Stuck, she revealed to People that she made a lot of changes to her diet. “I cut out a lot of meat,” she said. “I think again, self-health and self-awareness are so important. All of that stuff is so important to maintaining your body, knowing what’s in your food, the GMO’s and the chemicals, and I’m super aware of this stuff.”

5. Brooke Burke

Brooke Burke advertised her workout program on Instagram this week, and she posted several stunning photos, showing off her toned body. Lipa is also kicking off her “Future Nostalgia” tour, but she says that she still makes time to workout while she’s on the road and traveling. “When I have a tiny bit more time on my side I love mixing up lots of different training, finding different workouts in whatever city I’m in, whether it’s yoga, Pilates, boxing or spinning,” she told The Urban List. “Whatever it is, I try to change it up every day to keep things interesting. When you’re on a tour bus, every day and every place is different, so you never know what you’re going to find. That’s always one way to keep it interesting.”

7. Chantel Jeffries

8. Sommer Ray

Fitness influencer Sommer Ray posted a gorgeous photo on Instagram of herself in a red bikini. Ray tells Life&Style magazine that she believes a healthy diet is the most important part of losing weight and staying in shape. "Diet is key. Diet plays a huge role in fitness. A lot of people go to the gym, work out really hard, then don't follow up with a good lifestyle. You can't expect a flower to grow without any water. Work out, but also take care of yourself.” Ray even has her own app where people can put in what they eat each day, and it will calculate the food’s nutritional value.

9. Teddi Mellencamp

After spending time in the Celebrity Big Brother house, Mellencamp revealed on Instagram that she had gained some weight and had slipped up on her diet. However, now that she’s home, Mellencamp says that she is making a healthy diet and lifestyle a main priority, but is not doing so to lose the weight she gained. “IT’S NOT ABOUT A NUMBER ON THE SCALE BUT HOW I FEEL WHEN I AM EATING CLEAN AND TAKING CARE OF MY BODY AND MIND - MY ANXIETY DECREASES,” she wrote. “TODAY I AM POSTING TO HOLD MYSELF ACCOUNTABLE TO MAKING MY OVERALL HEALTH A PRIORITY AGAIN. *even those of us who are “fitness influencers” go through different stages in our journeys.”

10. Alessandra Ambrosio

alessandra-ambrosio-1Alessandra Ambrosio/Instagram

She says that she prioritizes a balanced diet rather than a restrictive one. “Obviously I try not to splurge on pasta, but if I'm back in Brazil where everything is pasta- or bread-based—and so yummy—I'll eat whatever I want, then go back to lots of salads and chicken or fish with veg as soon as I'm back in L.A."

11. Eugenie Bouchard

Kristin Cavallari is a reality TV and fashion icon. Since she debuted on Laguna Beach, people have clamoured for her fashion and beauty secrets. Cavallari recently shared her eye makeup secrets on Instagram, after several people asked for them. She captioned the post, “This is for the girlies in my DMs asking about this eye every time I do it. Sorry the lighting is awful. I also don’t know why the audio isn’t in sync for half of it 🫣 but here ya go 💗”

She's Less Strict With Her Diet

Kristin shares a Zucchini Almond Butter Blondies recipe

Kristin Cavallari/Instagram

Cavallari has written several cookbooks, and they have changed as her diet has changed. While promoting her book, Truly Simple with EatingWell, she revealed that her diet is less strict. “I've gotten to a point in my life where not everything has to be so perfect anymore,” Cavallari said. “I used to be so strict about what I was putting in my body. I'm still very healthy and very conscious of it, but I've gotten a little bit more lax. True Roots and True Comfort had nothing ‘white’ in them: no white flour, no white sugar, no white salt. But in Truly Simple, I bend a little bit in a few of the recipes, which really reflects where I am in my life and my new way of eating. Everything is a little bit more relaxed around here now.’

She Loves Cauliflower

Cavallari tells EatingWell that she loves making foods with cauliflower. “I love cauliflower because I think it's very versatile, and there's actually a Sweet Harissa Cauliflower recipe in Truly Simple that's my absolute favorite cauliflower recipe on the planet. If you've ever been to True Food Kitchen, their cauliflower was the inspiration behind it. There's this sweet harissa dressing that's on it, and there's little chopped-up dates in it, so it has that nice balance between sweet and savory. It's the absolute best.”

She Loves Salad

Krisitn Cavallari/Instagram

Cavallari likes to make salads. She shared one of her favorite recipes with EatingWell. “This salad has a few of my favorite things: salmon (which has omega-3s and is so, so good for you), bacon (no explanation needed), avocado (healthy fats), and spicy tomatillo ranch dressing (just yum). Together, they create culinary heaven. If you aren't familiar with tomatillos, they're similar to tomatoes but are slightly less sweet and are perfect when drenched in ranch.”

She Works With A Trainer

Cavallari tells Us Weekly that a lot of her gym sessions are with her personal trainer. “He kicks my ass,” she says. “He pushes me really hard. He has me actually lifting really heavy weight, the heaviest weight I’ve ever lifted in my entire life. I feel the best I ever have. I feel like I’m the strongest I’ve ever been.”

She Shared Her Eye Makeup Trick

Cavallari shared some of her wellness secrets in an interview with Us Weekly. She says that consistency is one of her biggest priorities. “My goal is sort of, right now, just to maintain the muscle that I have,” she says. “I’m really petite. I have no hips. I’m just small. And so if I don’t work out for like a week or two, I feel like all my muscle goes away. So it is about consistency for me.”

Rebeca Andrade is an Olympic gymnast. She is the most decorated Olympic athlete from Brazil, having won two gold medals, three silvers, and a bronze. Andrade recently shared some highlights of her native Brazil on Instagram. In some of them, she posed in a swimsuit while wading. Andrade captioned the post, “SC-&-RS🏕️🌅❤️ Being free is a paradox. It's committing to the life you want, without running away from the work that it entails. It's building freedom every day, with conscious choices and, mainly, with the acceptance that freedom is not the absence of limits, but the autonomy to know which ones are worth it and which ones are not. Being free is being willing to carry the weight of your own life and still find it funny.”

She Swims

In her Instagram post, Andrade is seen swimming. The Cleveland Clinic says that swimming has a lot of benefits. “Swimming takes much less of a toll on your body than, say, running or riding a bike. That’s because exercising in water lessens the impact of your body weight on your joints.”

She Does Gymnastics

Gymnastics is the main way Andrade stays in shape. British Gymnastics states that the sport has a lot of benefits. “When you take part in gymnastics, or any sport for that matter, your body releases chemicals called endorphins. These also help to trigger a positive feeling in the body which can have a positive impact on your happiness and mental wellbeing. This can help to combat feelings of anxiety and depression.”

She Prioritizes Safety

Andrade talked about her training approach in an interview with the Olympics website. She says that she and her coach prioritize her safety, and that she will skip floor sessions if she isn’t able to do it. "I talk a lot with my coach and we trust in each other. We always try to be really safe, and do floor in the correct moments. He believes in me. I'm never going to lie to not do it. So, when I really tell him that I can't do it, it's because I cannot and he always respects that.”

She Sets Goals

In her Olympics website interview, Andrade talked about her commitment and goal setting. Specifically, she talked about her goal to make the Olympic team. “The other [goal], which is the main one, is for us to qualify as a team,” Andrade said. “I think it will be very important for me, for my team, and the focus is on that, whatever happens there, the result is a consequence of our work, of our commitment. But I really want to be there with my team and be happy and healthy.”

She Cooks

Andrade makes sure to eat healthy. She also likes to cook a lot of her own meals. She shared some of her favorite things to make in an interview with NPR. “There was one that was with potatoes and cheese, chicken. There’s cake. There’s cookies. A lot of things.”

Brandi Glanville has never been one to hold back, whether on reality TV or her unfiltered podcast. Best known for her time on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, the US and UK versions of Celebrity Big Brother, and The Traitors, Glanville always speaks her mind. Her podcast, Brandi Glanville Unfiltered, recently stirred up some drama when she called out Real Housewives stars for struggling on The Traitors and suggested the show stop casting them. Many fans saw this as subtle shade toward Phaedra Parks, who excelled in the previous season.

Beyond the headlines, Glanville has shared glimpses into her personal wellness routine, from skincare secrets to unconventional self-care methods. Here’s a look at how she stays feeling and looking her best.

Glanville likes to walk her dogs to keep herself in shape. She shared this video on Instagram of herself and her pup walking in Los Angeles. Glanville captioned the post, “On our way to do some podcasting.” Harvard Health says that walking is very beneficial. “Walking can help protect you during cold and flu season. A study of over 1,000 men and women found that those who walked at least 20 minutes a day, at least 5 days a week, had 43% fewer sick days than those who exercised once a week or less. And if they did get sick, it was for a shorter duration, and their symptoms were milder.”

She Has A Dog

As you can see from the previous Instagram post, Glanville has pet dogs. And according to Harvard Health, this can be beneficial. “A growing body of solid research shows that owning a dog can: provide companionship, help you be more active, make kids calmer, more secure, and more responsible, improve the lives of older individuals, help you be calmer, more mindful, and more present in your life, make you more social and less isolated, ease stress.”

She Worked With A Breath Coach

Glanville revealed to Us Weekly that she works with a breath coach to help with her mental health. “I’m still doing cosmetic stuff, but at the same time trying to fix myself. I eat better and breathe and actually exercise. I’m getting there. I just started with this journey, but I can actually do things. My body can do things now that I couldn’t do five years ago.”

She Uses CellSound

Glanville revealed to People that she used the CellSound treatment on her stomach. "I mean, to be honest, I haven't worn a crop top in years, and I literally feel comfortable going out in a crop top, which is so bizarre," she says. "Not that I feel like everyone should do that, but I can go work out with a crop top on and not feel like I have my mommy stomach and I shouldn't sit down. So it's definitely empowered me in that aspect."
