Amy Schumer Just Posted the Funniest Video About Hiking
Comedian and actress Amy Schumer enjoys hiking, but with a caveat. Schumer posted a hilarious video to her Instagram of her hiking with her husband, chef Chris Fischer. Schumer is seen saying that her and Fischer are on a romantic hike, then shows Fischer walking faster and is way ahead of her. Schumer jokingly asked her husband, "We love hiking, together?" She captioned the video "#hiking #romantichikes." Schumer has been open about her diet and exercise routines, and her struggles. Here are five things Amy Schumer does to stay in shape.
She Goes Hiking
As seen in the video, Schumer takes hikes with her husband. Hiking is a great form of exercise for both your body. "When you walk on a level surface, your body does a really good job of what's known as passive dynamics," Daniel Ferris, a professor of engineering and biomechanics at the University of Florida, told Time Magazine. "Thanks to gravitational and kinetic energy, if I start that pendulum swinging, it's going to keep moving back and forth for a long time without any additional energy input," he says. But hiking also can have a positive impact on your mind. "Research shows that hiking has a positive impact on combating the symptoms of stress and anxiety, " says Gregory A. Miller, PhD, president of the American Hiking Society said to WebMD. "Being in nature is ingrained in our DNA, and we sometimes forget that."
She Embraces Her Body
Schumer has been a long advocate for body positivity and has stood up to body shamers on social media. "I look in the mirror and I know who I am and I feel beautiful and I feel strong and sexy," she said in an interview on Ellen. "And the people online trolling [me] are in more pain that we can possibly imagine. For women of all ages there's no one too young or too old to understand. It never stops and it really has to be about knowing who you are."
She Has SoulCycled
In an interview with InStyle, Schumer revealed that she loves to go with a close friend to the gym, specifically a SoulCycle class. Schumer said, "For exercise, I'll text [actress] Rachel Feinstein and ask her if she wants to go to a SoulCycle class. We ride very slowly in the back, but they don't make us feel bad about that. Afterward, we celebrate the workout with a very long lunch and coffee. We're like elderly women on the Upper West Side."
She Has Had a Personal Trainer
After having a baby in 2019, Schumer began working with trainer, and founder of Corectology, AJ Fisher. While she has joked about sending Fisher a cease and desist, Schumer praised Fisher on her Instagram. "Aj is an amazing trainer and is the reason I feel strong and good and have recovered from my herniated discs and c section," Schumer wrote. Fisher has posted a lot of her workouts on her Instagram, and her methods focus on alignment and body positioning. In addition, Schumer also works with celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak.
She Varies Her Workouts
One of Schumer's trainers, Harley Pasternak, says that he likes to vary Schumer's workouts. "The exercises sometimes vary, but I usually pick one exercise for each of the seven major body parts," Pasternak says to Health.com. "Sometimes I have her just pick one of these exercises and do anywhere from three to five sets with 15 to 30 reps. Other times I'll have her do all seven exercises, doing one to three sets of 15 to 20 reps."
