Basketball Phenom Anneli Maley in Two-Piece Workout Gear Shares Her "Hobbies"
Anneli Maley is opening up about her life – in her workout gear. In a new social media post the basketball star shows off her amazing body in a two-piece exercise set during an interview."Get to know @annelimaley! ❤️Hear her hobbies off the court, what being the @perthlynx Captain means to her, and her recent trip to the Paris Olympics with the @aus_gangurrus ✌️ #WeAreWNBL," the Instagram video was captioned. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.
Sauna
Anneli enjoys a little heat therapy. During a trip to Reclab she took a Sauna. Should you take a dry sauna? While some claim the health benefits of saunas are plentiful, including detoxification, increased metabolism, weight loss, increased blood circulation, pain reduction, antiaging, skin rejuvenation, improved cardiovascular function, improved immune function, improved sleep, stress management, and relaxation, there isn't a lot of research backing up the claims.
Cold Plunge
She also did a cold plunge while at the spa. There is limited research supporting the benefits of cold plunges, which may include easing sore muscles, bringing body temperature down, increased focus, improved sleep, and decreased inflammation, per the Cleveland Clinic. However, a 2021 study found that cold water immersion therapy promotes basic post-sport recovery.
Coffee
Anneli is a coffee drinker. "Coffee in hand , Reebok's on feet , ETA who knows," she wrote in a recent caption. According to the Cleveland Clinic, there are several benefits of drinking coffee in moderation. "It acts on your brain to improve memory, mood, reaction times, and mental function," they say, citing a study finding that caffeine can improve endurance and performance during exercise. It is also antioxidant-rich, can ward off diabetes, prevent neurologic disease, lower cancer risk, and ward off depression, they point out.
Strength Training and Weight Lifting
To prepare her body for the basketball court Anneli spends a lot of time weight lifting at the gym. According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:
- Develop strong bones
- Manage your weight
- Enhance your quality of life
- Manage chronic conditions
- Sharpen your thinking skills
Basketball
Anneli's main form of fitness is basketball. "Basketball promotes speed, agility, strength, power and endurance. It [has] also been shown to increase flexibility and motor coordination. As a result, basketball is uniquely oriented to improve fundamental motor skills that are shown to be beneficial in promoting general health," Koco Eaton, M.D., orthopedic surgeon, founder of Eaton Orthopaedics and a former basketball player, tells Nike.
