Lenda Murray is getting her sweat on with Lauralie Chapados – in her workout gear. In a new social media post the bodybuilder shows off her amazing body in a two-piece exercise set while training with the younger athlete. “In the gym with @lauraliechap 3 x Bikini International Champion. Feel so good to connect with the women champions of today,” she captioned the Instagram snap. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

1. Strength Training

Lenda relies on old school weightlifting and bodybuilding to stay in shape. Why should you incorporate strength training into your routine? The Mayo Clinic explains that lifting weights helps reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

2. Avoiding Extra Calories

When it comes to nutrition, Lenda offers tips in one of her YouTube videos. First, you should avoid adding extra calories to your meals. “There's a way to eat and still get a lot of enjoyment out of your food, but it's not necessary to add extra calories or unnecessary calories,” she says. One example of this is salad dressing, and another, a baked potato. She recommends that you should skip the “cheese and butter and sour cream,” or at least only having one of them. Salad dressing is another example she uses.

3. Not Drinking Calories

New,York,City,-,August,2,,2017:,Illustrative,Editorial,ImageShutterstock

Another “big, big mistake that people make all the time,” is that people “drink their calories,” she says. “One serving of a cup and a cup of orange juice, 113 calories and 27 grams of carbohydrates. So if you're eating this meal and you're supposed to only have 350 calories, and then you go and get a little bitty glass of juice, guess what? You just added 113 calories to your meal,” she points out. She sticks to zero calorie beverages like Crystal Light.

4. Egg Whites with One Yolk

Woman,Separating,Egg,Yolk,From,White,Over,Bowl,At,WoodenShutterstock

Lenda is an egg eater, but has a healthy hack. “I don't eat the whole egg whites only. Now, if you've gotta have some of the yolk and you wanna have, what you can do is take two eggs, one whole egg, and then the other one eliminate the yolk and scramble it up and you won't miss that extra yolk,” she says.

5. Eating More Greens and Less Starchy Food

She also eats lots of greens versus food with lots of starches. “You never really have to weigh your food. You can always eyeball it and tell if you're doing the right thing,” Lenda says. However, you do have to pay attention to the nutritional value of each food, and stick to eating lots of greens instead of starchy, high calorie and carb foods."

Boxer Mikaela Mayer says "Loved the Lime Green"

We are committed to bringing you researched, expert-driven content to help you make more informed decisions around food, health, and wellness. We know how important making choices about your overall health is, and we strive to provide you with the best information possible.

Mikaela Mayer is a powerhouse in professional boxing, known for her dedication to the sport and her impressive accolades, including titles in the WBO and IBF. Recently, Mayer shared highlights from a fight on Instagram, sporting a vibrant lime-green workout set. She captioned the post, “Loved the lime green. Time to start planning the next one. Watcha think?” Beyond her eye-catching gear, Mayer’s commitment to intense training, recovery, and resilience has helped her build a career that’s as inspiring as it is formidable. Here’s a closer look at how she maintains peak performance.

She Does Intense Workouts

Mayer keeps her workouts intense. She described them in an interview with Equinox. “I work out four hours a day, six days a week. I have a two-hour training session starting at 9 a.m. I start with a warm-up before running intervals. My pace has to be fast and explosive. I’ll do eight two-minute sprints. Sometimes I do suicides—I’ll run for 45 seconds with a minute rest between, and I’ll do it 15 times.”

She Eats A Lot Of Protein

A juicy steak on the grill.

Mayer revealed to Equinox that she eats a protein-rich diet. “I eat every two hours so I never feel low on energy. My diet emphasizes a lot of protein and vegetables, and I eat small portions. I have an iron deficiency so I eat red meat about three times a week. I’m not big on fish unless it’s raw. I love sushi and eat it once or twice a week. I also eat a lot of chicken breast.”

She Learns From Failures

Mayer doesn’t let her setbacks define her. She tells Men’s Journal that she likes to learn from them. “Going into my first Olympic year, making it to the finals and then losing, and then losing by only two points … that was rough. But I knew I had so much more to learn. I hadn’t hit my peak yet, and the dream was still alive. When you have a dream, you have a dream.”

She Recovers

Mayer makes sure to recover, and shared her process with Equinox. “There’s an amazing recovery room with massage, a cold plunge, a Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna at the Olympic Training Center. I usually go after my morning training session. I do dry needling once a week. It’s not the same as acupuncture. The needle goes deeper and is attached to electric stimulation so it pulsates. I do it for about five minutes, usually on my IT bands because they tighten up a lot. It’s aggressive and leaves a little bruising, but it works.”

She Does A Variety Of Workouts

I strength train, focusing on my core and shoulders with push-ups, pull-ups and Russian twists. I do a lot of I’s, T’s and Y’s using the TRX and also for push-ups so I engage my core more than I would normally. My second two-hour workout is a boxing session at 3 p.m. I start with a 15-minute warm-up, which includes a series of rotational movements because my coach is big on getting full extension out of my punches. Next is two to four rounds of shadowboxing drills. It’s a time for me to think about my combinations and technique and drill them into my subconscious. Sometimes I’ll circle around the ring, moving forward, backward and side-to-side. All of those angles are really important when you’re throwing punches. I’ll finish the session with sparring or mitt work. I spar three times a week, usually six three-minute rounds at a time. Sometimes it’s technical work, and if I do a bag session, it’s for 10 rounds.

2. She Trains Every Day

“I train every single day,” she said. “The goal is to work out seven days a week and to train each body part twice a week. The average person training is hitting a body part once a week. So, after four weeks, they’ve only trained that body part four times. If I train everything twice a week, I’ve hit that body part eight times in that same four weeks.”

3. Back Day Workout

On back day she focuses on her lower back, lats, and traps, while indirectly working her biceps. She does 10 exercises performing sets at a fast pace.

  • Rack Pull: 5 x 8-12
  • Pendlay Row: 4 x 8-10
  • Barbell Shrug: 4 x 8-12
  • Barbell Upright Row: 4 x 8-12

  • Flat Dumbbell Bench Press: 6 x 8-12
  • Side-by-Side Chest Press: 6 x 8-12
  • Glute Bridge: 5 x 8-12
  • Farmer’s Carry with Dumbbells: 5 sets

5. Leg Day Workout

On leg day Andrea starts with warmups and then moves onto doing 25 total sets of a chosen exercise. For example, she might go on the leg curl machine, select a weight, and perform a single rep each, rest a minute, then do two reps with the same weight, followed by three, and on and on until 25 reps. She ends up doing 325 reps. “When I finish that, my legs are humming,” she joked.

They captioned the post, “You asked, we delivered. The viral Tempo Front Clasp Sports Bra is back and upgraded🤩The Tempo Front Clasp 2.0 is here in 5 new colors ways! No more post workout battles with your sports bra, our revolutionary front clasp makes it easier than ever to pop off your top after sweaty workout. Available now on our app and sitewide.”

She Works Her Legs

Teixeira doesn’t skip leg day. She shared some of her favorite exercises in this Instagram video. Teixeira is seen doing things like squats and glute bridges. She captioned it, “Building them glutes 1 day at a time 💪🏼 #gluteworkout Save it and use it for your next Glute workout this way you don’t need to overthinking on what to do when you get to the gym 👊🏼🔥”

She Engages Her Muscles

Teixeira makes sure that her muscles are engaged when she works out. She shared her tips for doing this in lunges in the caption of this Instagram post. “The way you perform your lunges can change the muscles it activates. 🤓When you step forward you will activate more your quadriceps muscles than the glutes. But if you step backwards you will activate more your glutes than your quads. And if you keep your chest up you will feel more in your quads while if you keep your chest forward you will feel more in your glutes. I always perform it stepping backwards and with my chest forward to activate more the glutes than the quads because you know, us Bikini girls are all about the 🍑.”

She Strength Trains

Teixeira is seen pushing a weighted cart in this Instagram video. Strength training exercises like these have a lot of health benefits. ACE Fitness states, “Strength training with heavy weights improves muscle definition. Muscle definition occurs as the result of muscles remaining in a state of semi-contraction and heavy strength training recruits the larger type II muscle fibers responsible for a muscle’s appearance.”

She Works Out With Others

Angelica Teixeira pushes a friend during a workout.

In the previous Instagram video, Teixeira is seen working out with one of her friends. Better Health states that this can have a lot of health benefits. “Exercising with a friend or loved one can make it more fun, and increase your chances of sticking to your exercise plan. Exercising with a friend is a great way to keep you motivated. It’s also a great way to meet new people. It can even save you money.”

She Uses A Waist Trainer

Teixeira revealed in the caption of this Instagram post that she uses a weight trainer to help with her muscles. “Wearing the @slimtum waist trainer original and also the Slimtum Pro has helped me a lot to slim down my waist line comparing to my last prep. 🥳I wear the Original size 4 for upper body workouts and outside the gym I wear size 3 for about 2 more hours a day, I prefer to wear it when I’m standing doing something in the house or walking around running errands like grocery shopping.🛒For my lower body workouts I like to wear the Slimtum Pro size 2. It gives the best protection to my lower back, midsection and keeps my waist small when I’m lifting heavier weights.”

Rene Campbell, an IFBB Pro bodybuilder and tattoo artist, is celebrated for her strength and dedication to fitness. Known for her impressive physique and engaging fitness content, she has amassed a large following on Instagram, where she shares her favorite workouts. In a recent post, Campbell showcased her bicep routine using a curl machine, captioning it simply, “Boom.” From lifting weights to mastering pull-ups, Campbell focuses on exercises that build strength and balance in her training. Here’s how she maintains her fitness and continues to dominate in the bodybuilding world.

She Lifts Weights

In her recent post, Campbell is seen using a weighted machine. A lot of the workouts she posts on Instagram are of her lifting weights. These exercises have a lot of health benefits. The Mayo Clinic states, “Strength training may enhance your quality of life and improve your ability to do everyday activities. Strength training can also protect your joints from injury. Building muscle also can contribute to better balance and may reduce your risk of falls. This can help you maintain independence as you age.”

She Does Leg Presses

Campbell shared some of her favorite lower body workouts in this Instagram post. One thing she is seen doing is using the leg press machine. According to Asphalt Green, the leg press machine has a lot of benefits. “The leg press works all of the lower body muscles, but it really emphasizes the quads, hamstrings, and glutes. One of the big benefits of a machine like the leg press is that it can build those larger muscles, and it’s easy to use. There are those who argue this machine is less effective at building overall strength than free weight exercises; the truth is, no matter what you’ll still get stronger while you’re using it. It’s all about you, and where you are on your fitness journey.”

She Does Hamstring Curls

Rene Campbell is seen doing hamstring curls

Campbell is also seen doing standing hamstring curls in the previous Instagram video. Asphalt Green states that hamstring curls have a lot of benefits. “Hamstring curls are a great way to balance the muscles that you work when you’re doing leg extensions. This exercise is also good for people with sedentary jobs who don’t get a lot of walking in. Even pro cyclists can benefit from using this machine, since biking works the quads so heavily and doesn’t do as much for the hamstrings.”

She Does Hip Thrusts

Rene Campbell is seen doing hip thrusts

Campbell is also seen doing hip thrusts in her Instagram video. Gymless states that they are a great glute workout. “Strong glutes are not only for aesthetic appeal; they serve a key functional purpose in supporting the posterior chain of muscles around the spine. Hip thrusts are also known for their capacity to develop and define glute muscles, contributing to their popularity on social media. After all, who doesn’t appreciate the look of a well-crafted pair of glutes?”

She Does Pull Ups

Campbell shared this video on Instagram of herself doing back exercises, including pull-ups. According to Asphalt Green, pull-ups have a lot of health benefits. “Pull-ups are a fantastic way to improve upper-body strength. This exercise primarily targets your back and biceps, but involves many stabilizing muscles in your core, arms, and shoulders. Depending on the way you grip the bar, you can even work your chest. Plus, you don’t need any fancy equipment to do a pull-up. Tree branches, scaffolding, and even door frames are all places people can do pull-ups.”

Kristy Hawkins is getting a workout in and explaining why she opted out of Queen of the Platform. In a new social media post the powerlifter shows off her strength and impressive physique in a two-piece exercise set during a workout. “So this was my last squat workout before flying out to Florida to compete at Queen of the Platform, and I felt some tearing in my right outer quad halfway up. The swelling was not that bad so I thought there was about a 50/50 chance I could still compete. I flew out here, weighed in, and warmed up to about 200kg before making the difficult decision to pull out of the meet. It’s a pretty minor injury but I still felt a sharp pain that let me know it was not going to be a good day. I just need a little more time to heal,” she captioned the Instagram video. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here are all of her top diet and fitness tips.

Cardio Doesn't Always Cut It

Close,Up,Shoes,Woman's,Muscular,Legs,Feet,During,Running, TreadmillShutterstock

Kristy, a PhD, was overweight as a teen. She told Muscle & Fitness that she struggled and used extreme dieting to lose weight, and developed an eating disorder. She also devoted a lot of time to “work off” the excess weight with cardio and dance.

Take a Walk

Kristy understands the importance of getting her steps in. Luckily her dog, He-Man the Pug, who accompanies her to the gym, motivates her to walk. Going for a daily walk can be a game changer in terms of exercise, especially at a brisk speed. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day led to a reduced risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.

Swim

Kristy also enjoys swimming — and so does He-Man. “Had to repost from @he_man_the_pug because I love him so much and am slightly sorry I traumatized him. But I loved how he kept trying to climb on top of my shoulders,” she joked in a caption about one of their swimming sessions. Swimming is a good way to get regular aerobic physical activity, according to the CDC. Just two and a half hours per week of aerobic physical activity, such as swimming, bicycling, or running, can decrease the risk of chronic illnesses. In addition to the many physical benefits, there are multiple studies supporting the mental health benefits of swimming as well.

Train Your Brain

Aside from being one of the best female powerlifters of all time, Kristy is always training her mind. She is actually a biologist! “Not powerlifting-related but this is how @he_man_the_pug and I spend our days. I’m proud to be a co-founder and CSO of Antheia using synthetic biology to revolutionize the way plant-inspired medicines are manufactured. #dogsofantheia #science,” she captioned a post.

Lift Weights

However, it wasn’t until she started strength training that she was able to heal. “In the same way my brain seemed natural to respond to learning about science and math,” she explains to Muscle & Fitness, “my body responded to exercise and training. I found that developing these two aspects of my life – mind, and body – created a balance that I found extremely rewarding.”

Leonie Hanne is living her best life in Thailand – in her swimsuit. In a new social media post, the German model flaunts her fantastic figure in a $750 Missoni bathing suit while enjoying a boating day in the tropics. “She dreamed of a tropical adventure 🦋,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. “Stunning,” commented one of her followers. ”So beautiful,” added another. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Coffee

Leonie enjoys the perks of caffeine. In one of her posts from Thailand, she drinks a cup of coffee at the poolside. According to the Cleveland Clinic, drinking coffee in moderation has several benefits. “It acts on your brain to improve memory, mood, reaction times, and mental function,” they say, citing a study finding that caffeine can improve endurance and performance during exercise. It is also antioxidant-rich, can ward off diabetes, prevent neurologic disease, lower cancer risk, and ward off depression, they point out.

Pilates

Leonie does Pilates at the super exclusive London studio Pilates in the Clouds. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress, and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

At-Home Workouts

Leonie tries to get a workout in daily, preferably in the morning. I still try to get up early to maintain a sense of routine. I start every day with a quick at-home workout and a homemade acai bowl, before starting work on emails and content creation. I’ve been getting really into TikTok lately, it’s funny and keeps me feeling energised!” she told Arcadia.

Community

It takes a village, according to Leonie. “Community is key! The people you surround yourself with are more important than ever, as we are all trying to find ways to stay connected without being physically present. Speaking to people either on the phone or through social media can shift your mindset and motivation more than ever before,” she says.

Small, Healthy Habits

Leonie focuses on maintaining small, healthy habits. “Do something every day that brings you joy. Even if that means having something small to look forward to, like having your favourite snacks around the house or changing into an outfit that makes you feel good about yourself,” she says.

Sophie claims she hasn’t gone under the knife. “It’s your own body, you can do what you want to,” she told Grazia, weighing in on the show’s reputation for girls getting work done. “I wouldn’t have surgery myself; I don’t want it. I’ve got such a low pain tolerance as well; I’d be squirming around.”

She Gets Her Steps In

Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Sophie loves paddle boarding. The American Council on Exercise (ACE) agrees that paddle boarding is great for the core and cardio. Water sports can burn an average of 385 calories for a 140-pound male and 436 calories for a female of the same size, per a study conducted by Arizona State University.

She Skis

When Sophie hits the mountains, she throws on a pair of skis. “Ski club,” she captioned a photo. Research has linked downhill skiing to several health benefits. In addition to promoting physical fitness, it may decrease the risk of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Studies have also found that the more frequently a person skis, the prevalence of known hypercholesterolemia, systemic hypertension, diabetes, the frequency of mental stress, and the occurrence of memory deficits decline.

She Loves Group Fitness

“You’ve got to be body confident,” Sophie told Grazia. One of her favorite sweat methods? Group fitness. “A few gym classes can’t hurt,” she said.

She Goes Snorkeling

On her recent Maldives vacation, Sophie and Josh snorkeled in the crystal clear water. Surprisingly, putting on a snorkel and fins and swimming through the water is a great workout. In addition to being a great aerobic exercise and burning calories, other health benefits may include improved cardiovascular function, stress reduction, mood enhancement, and muscular toning.

Tammy Hembrow is a fitness influencer and expert. She has her own app, called Tammy Fit. Hembrow has a lot of challenges on her app. Recently, she advertised a challenge with a workout video on Instagram. Hembrow captioned the post, “We are 3 days into our first @tammyfitapp challenge of the year & I am more motivated than everrrrr. This muscle promotes good posture and spinal stability. Form is crucial when performing a lat pulldown to prevent injury and reap the best results.”

She Tracks Her Meals

Hembrow likes to track her meals on her app. She talked about the benefits of this in the caption of this “What I Eat In A Day” Instagram video. “Make sure to take advantage of the calorie/macro tracking features in the @tammyfitapp during this challenge guys. It can be really helpful in reaching specific goals quicker. And it also can help educate you on your food choices when it comes to nutrition, ratios, hidden calories, overeating or under eating etc. honestly I’d recommend any beginner try it out just to get a good feel for how you’re fuelling your body!! I feel like when people think of ‘meal tracking’ it can be seen as something that seems restrictive or something only bodybuilders do. When in reality it can be such a helpful tool and you can learn things that will actually encourage long term habits 🫶🏼🫶🏼”

She Loves Bananas

Magnesium is involved in many processes in your body, including: Blood pressure. Blood sugar levels. Building proteins. Maintaining bone. Muscle function. Nerve function.”

She Loves Cottage Cheese
