She Exercises
"I try to work out every day whenever I can. Each day is a different workout. There are days when I do purely legs, there are days when I do purely abs, purely arms. But on the days that I don't get to work out much, I try to squeeze everything in one day," Coleen told Cosmopolitan, per ABS CBN News. "It's mostly weight training, heavy weights because I enjoy it. I try not to work out on my arms so much because they get big," she added. "I don't want big arms so it's really mostly toning. Lighter weights for my arms and heavier weights for my legs because that's what I'm trying to build."
She Practices Portion Control
Coleen doesn't diet but she does limit portion sizes. "I pretty much eat what I want as long as it's the right amount. No excessive eating, I just try to hold back a little bit," she told Cosmopolitan. "I believe in kind of granting yourself whatever you want as long as you do it with discipline like you don't eat too much of it."
She Eats Small, Frequent Meals
Coleen is one of the many stars who eat small, frequent meals. "It's just better to limit yourself," she said. "It really helps to know the times when you're supposed to eat. It's good to have small, frequent meals every three hours, that's what my trainer told me. You have to be eating something light every three hours just so your tummy doesn't get too hungry."
She Mixes Up Her Workouts
Coleen revealed during a YouTube interview that she maintains variety with exercise. "I try to mix it up because every workout targets different muscles and different parts of your body," she said, "so it's really good to keep trying different things."
She Drinks Her Nutrients
Coleen drinks her nutrients in the form of green juice and smoothies. "I like to put spinach in my smoothies," she said during the YouTube interview, adding that it is rich in iron. She also adds flax. "It doesn't taste bad at all. Spinach tastes good in juice." Pineapple and pipino (cucumber) are also regular ingredients. "It's really really good for you. Especially your skin," she adds.
She Eats Post-Workout
"The best time to eat is right after you workout because your body is still burning," Coleen revealed during the interview. "So maybe during dinner time I don't eat as much." Incorporating a well-balanced meal after exercise, rich in protein, carbohydrates, and other essential nutrients, can enhance muscle repair and glycogen replenishment, leading to improved performance and overall well-being. It's important to note that individual dietary preferences and goals may vary, but Coleen's advice offers a valuable perspective on making the most of the body's metabolic state after a workout to support health and fitness endeavors. As always, consulting with a qualified nutritionist or healthcare professional can help tailor dietary choices to individual needs and requirements.
