CrossFit Competitor Amanda Barnhart in Two-Piece Workout Gear Cheers "Process Over Results"
Amanda Barnhart is a 6x CrossFit game athlete who has the time and patience to build her strength slowly and steadily. "Process over results. If you aren't training intentionally and moving intentionally you are missing the mark. No matter what your goals are – we should ALL train with some kind of intention. Comment your goals below," she said on Instagram. Here are some tips that she has to maintain your health and fitness level.
She rests
She takes time to rest when needed, so she can push her body to the max in the gym, as seen in this video. "Lots of rest so lots of time to go hard on this one! LOVE a good @hwpotraining Saturday EMOM," she said on Instagram. According to UCLAhealth.org, "just like your body needs sleep every night to recover from the day, it also needs occasional rest days to recover from workouts. Taking some downtime between exercise sessions is essential for building strength and preventing injury."
She uses rings to workout
She doesn't give up, but instead she adjusts and problem solves. "I'll be honest the first attempt at getting from the box to the rings wasn't this smooth 😂 don't tell @josh_godinez 🤫Once you set your rings to the "perfect" height and have the straps all tied up nicely – you really don't want to adjust it lol #iykyk," she said on Instagram.
She works on her mobility
She works on her range of motion. "Mobility is gaining range of motion and it's crucial to make sure we maintain it for proper movement," she said on Instagram. "Research has shown that stretching can help improve flexibility, and, as a result, the range of motion of your joints. Better flexibility may improve your performance in physical activities, decrease your risk of injuries, help your joints move through their full range of motion, increase muscle blood flow, enable your muscles to work most effectively, [and] improve your ability to do daily activities," according to the Mayo Clinic.
She's intentional with her movements
She focuses on proper movements. "Sometimes it's easy to do a really heavy lat pull down but not properly engage our lat and scap muscles!! When you do these – it's great to go heavy but make sure you're getting that full range of motion through your back and not just your arms to get full benefits," she said on Instagram.
She squats
She prioritizes squats during her workout routines. "Being in Long femur club 🙋🏼♀️ – I have a tendency to squat with mostly my quads and back. Using the safety squat bar from @repfitnessequipment holds me accountable. 1. I have to stay upright. 2. My core has to be tight. 3. And I have to drive up with my butt and legs and not my back!!! Love training with this bar," she said on Instagram.
