Danica McKellar Shares Swimsuit Photo From Costa Rica

Here’s how she stays in shape.

Danica McKellar is an actress, best known for her role on The Wonder Years, and for starring in several Hallmark movies and projects. McKellar is also a writer, and has written several books about math. She recently enjoyed a vacation to Costa Rica, and shared some photos on Instagram. In them, her family enjoyed nature walks, boat rides, and time at a waterfall. In one photo, McKellar is seen wading in a swimsuit, her figure on display. McKellar captioned the post, "Costa Rica photo dump!! 🌴✈️🐸🌊 My family and I had a wonderful time and many adventures! Swimming, snorkeling, waterfalls, horseback rides, rainforest walks (that tree frog looks like a National Geographic – but that was taken on my phone!), and more. And that very last shot at the waterfall?" How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Danica McKellar stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.

She Loves Ice Baths

While competing on Dancing With The Stars in 2014, McKellar revealed her recovery process to People. "I've been taking ice baths every single night," she said. "Hot shower, ice bath – I've been going back and forth between the two. It has made all the difference in the world. It has, like, seriously saved me. It's very unpleasant, but it's worth it."

She Takes Dance Classes

McKellar shared some of her wellness secrets in a 2015 interview with E! News. She said that while she's no longer on Dancing With The Stars, she is still ballroom dancing. "I kept it up and now my husband and I are taking tango lessons together. I mean, this is all new for him, but he's doing great. I'm so proud of him and I'm very grateful that he wants to do it."

She Eats Healthy

McKellar makes sure to eat healthy. She tells E! News that she stays away from a lot of different foods. "I try to stay away from dairy and sugar. No gluten. Almost no dairy, no sugar, nothing artificial. I only drink water. I've heard that staying in shape is 80 percent diet, 20 percent exercise."

She Wants To Inspire Others

McKellar wants to be a role model for others. She tells TODAY that she wants to encourage young women to focus on studies and go after what they want. "By developing your smarts, you become more powerful and you make better choices. Being a smart and savvy woman gives you more opportunity. Aspire to be a fabulous-looking woman on Wall Street with your important job. That's the image I'm giving girls. Be glamorous — but that's the icing on the cake. That's the decoration."

She's Motivated

McKellar makes sure to not only stay in shape, but to stay motivated. She shared her secrets for doing so on this Facebook post. "Always exercise within safe limits for your body," she writes. "And remember that even a couple minutes of a little cardio or even stretching is helpful for getting your circulation going! And music can be a great motivator."
