In a new social media post the ESPN host boogies down on the sidelines. “DJ Sizzler bringing the sideline shimmy to the @bin.depot 🔥🎤,” she captioned the Instagram clip. “You go girl!” commented one of her followers. “On fire,” added another. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.


1. Gymnastics

Lauren grew up in a sports family. “I was a gymnast,” she told Style Blueprint. “Gymnastics is very much an individual sport. Growing up, I was always competing for myself, for my coaches, and my parents. Then I go to Rutgers and now I’m competing for my team. That was a wonderful experience — to be able to compete for something greater than myself and ultimately to earn that opportunity to be the captain of the gymnastics team. To be looked upon as a role model, as someone who could lead the team — not only in the gym but also outside the gym — it really was an honor.”

2. Torque Workouts

Lauren is a fan of a workout method that includes resistance sleds, dumbbells, and rowing machines. “I love to exercise. There’s no pick-up game of gymnastics. So, I have to get in my Torque workouts,” she told the publication.

“I love the outdoors,” Lauren added to Style Blueprint. She spends her free time hiking with her family. “Yosemite and Lake Tahoe were simply breathtaking. There’s nothing like nature’s beauty to remind you to slow down and appreciate the moment,” she captioned an Instagram post.

5. Dancing

You can always find Lauren dancing on the sidelines. Dancing is a great workout for many reasons. Not only does it build strength and promote flexibility, but helps you lose weight and even promotes cardiovascular function. A 2016 study published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine determined that people who engaged in moderate-intensity dancing were 46 percent less likely to develop heart disease or die from it than non-dancers. In comparison, moderate-intensity walkers were just 25 percent less likely to suffer heart health issues.

Williamson revealed to Voyage Dallas that she went into sports journalism to challenge herself. “I decided to go into sports reporting in undergrad. I was a broadcast journalism major, but I wasn't really sure which path I wanted to take. I was an athlete an undergrad too, and a lot of the projects I was doing for school was sports-related just because I was always around it. I even had one professor ask me to do something other than sports! Around that time, another professor asked us what we planned on doing in the future. He specifically asked how many of us wanted to get into sports and we all raised our hands. He said something along of the lines of this being a very competitive industry, and that we should consider being in news. That sounded like a challenge to me, so I was like ‘Bet!’”

3. She Wears What’s Comfortable

In an interview with One37PM, Williamson talked about how she found her reporting attire. “The biggest thing for me was the fact that I didn't want people to think I was going into sports to get attention from athletes. For me, I was trying to do things that wouldn't draw too much attention to myself and not wear stuff that showed the form of my body. I wanted people to know that I was in this for the right reasons—not because I wanted to marry a football player. A lot of the style choices I made early on were in that regard.”

Harvard Health states, “Stretching keeps the muscles flexible and healthy, and we need that flexibility to maintain a range of motion in the joints. Without it, the muscles shorten and become tight. Then, when you call on the muscles for activity, they are unable to extend all the way. That puts you at risk for joint pain, strains, and muscle damage. For example, sitting in a chair all day results in tight hamstrings in the back of the thigh. That can make it harder to extend your leg or straighten your knee all the way, which inhibits walking. Likewise, when tight muscles are suddenly called on for a strenuous activity that stretches them, such as playing tennis, they may become damaged from suddenly being stretched. Injured muscles may not be strong enough to support the joints, which can lead to joint injury.”

2. She Plays Golf

Lim loves to play golf to stay in shape. She shares a lot of posts on Instagram of herself on the course. When she broke down her morning routine to The Newsette, she shared some of her favorite workouts. “This is the time the alarm is set, but of course I gotta let it snooze for that solid 9 minutes. So 6:10am is usually when I’m UP. I try to get a 7am workout in 4x a week. Mon/Wed/Fri, I do resistance interval training with my trainer Hannah Jackson and 1 day a week I do SoulCycle with Angela Manuel-Davis.”

5. She Loves Smoothies

Lim revealed in her Newsette interview that she likes to drink smoothies on her way to work. “Either ‘The Flaxmaster’ from Earthbar or a Daily Harvest smoothie. Yummmm. Sonders talked about why she decided to leave FOX in an interview. “I was just dying inside most of the time, to being told what to say, what to do, how to act, and so it’s, there’s something to be said for being free whether other people like it or not. At the end of Fox, it was just, after 10 years of being scripted, and told what to say, and to cut my hair, and to wear baggy clothing and to wear a polo, I’d had enough.”

I will have a splash of prosecco for celebratory occasions, but pretty much no alcohol and no sugar. I am up at 5 a.m., so I have not been able to entirely cut out caffeine. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy going out to eat. I am a total foodie, but I try to eat at home. I grew up on a very Mediterranean diet, and that goes hand-in-hand with also being anti-inflammatory, like a lot of fruits, vegetables, meats, and lots of unprocessed foods.”

2. She’s Consistent With Wellness

Qerim has endometriosis and that means she has to be consistent with her habits. "I have to really be diligent about getting my sleep, getting eight hours a night, limiting alcohol and sugar, getting acupuncture once a week,” she told Endo Found. “Exercising, meditation. I really implement all of that to keep the inflammation down and keep me feeling like I can be 'on' all the time. The [on-air] light comes on, and I need to be on. When you’re on morning television, people want to see happy, positive people, and my job is 24/7. So in my offtime, it became more about taking care of myself, than maybe other things I would normally do on the weekends. There are times when I can’t leave the house all weekend. Or, I come to work and then it's straight to bed after work. It's the ebb and flow of having a chronic illness. It can be frustrating at times because you’ll feel really good for a while, and then it hits and its like, 'Ugh! You're back.' So it’s kind of like your body is naturally keeping you in check at all times. It has almost become a second job."

3. She Works Out In The Morning

Qerim makes sure to workout on a regular basis. Since she has a busy schedule, she has to do her exercises in the mornings. When you climb stairs, your heart rate and breathing will increase. ‘Stair climbing for exercise targets the cardiovascular and respiratory systems,’ Dr. Lempke says. It takes a lot of work to move your body mass vertically against gravity.”

2. She’s Active

Spake shared some of her fitness secrets with Inspire Health Magazine. She says that she works out on a regular basis. “I do stay pretty active. I also do boot camp. Like today, I woke up at 5:30, got my kids up, got them to school, went to my boot camp class, came home, rode my bike for 30 minutes and now I’m going to work.”

3. She Eats Healthy

Spake tells Inspire Health Magazine that she makes sure to eat healthy. “I kind of look at food as fuel and how that food is going to make me feel. If I go and eat a big plate of pasta or a pizza or whatever at noon, I’m junk for the rest of the day. I feel tired. I feel full. I don’t have the energy that I would if I had a salad with chicken and some salmon, some good stuff. Now don’t get me wrong. I’ll down some ice cream at night, and I love my wine. I’m not perfect when it comes to nutrition, but I do try to eat really healthy on the road because it’s very easy not to. I’ll make sure that I have protein bars or enough fruit around me if there is no alternative.”

4. She Has Balance

Spake tells Inspire Health Magazine that she has balance in her life. “It always comes to balance. Sometimes something will be 100%, and the other things drop a little bit down. But the next day, you bring the one that was down back up to 100%. Sometimes you might have to tell yourself, ‘You know what? I’m not working today, so I’m going to go volunteer at my kids’ school. I’m going to go to lunch with them and maybe pick them up early so we can spend the rest of the afternoon together.”

5. She Competes In Races

Spake likes to compete in races. She shared her training process with Inspire Health Magazine. “I’ve trained in freezing temperatures, oppressive heat, rain, snow and everything in between. When traveling for work, treadmills and stationary bikes are my best friends, and I’ve probably consumed more protein bars and electrolyte powders in three years than a normal person will in their entire life. I’ve had a herniated disc, tendinitis of the Achilles, and ear infections. I’ve come to rely on acupuncture, anti-inflammatory medications, foam rollers, and heating pads for daily relief just so I can physically and mentally battle my way through tempo runs and brick workouts that can last up to four hours.”
