Charissa Thompson, the dynamic Fox Sports host, recently showcased her swing on the golf course, looking incredible in her stylish golf attire. Known for her love of sports and a healthy lifestyle, Charissa continues to inspire her followers by sharing glimpses of how she stays fit and balanced. Whether it's hitting the driving range, going for a run, or finding tranquility through yoga, Charissa prioritizes her well-being with an active routine. She also emphasizes the importance of staying hydrated, especially with her frequent travel schedule, and embraces aging with confidence. Here's a closer look at how she maintains a healthy lifestyle through a mix of fitness, golf, and self-care strategies.
Running
Charissa is a runner. "I've always been a runner. I always said this about running: All you need is a pair of sneakers," she told New Beauty. She maintains that going for a run is a "good escape." According to the Mayo Clinic, running is great for cardiovascular health, muscle building, and weight loss. "For every mile run, the average person will burn approximately 100 calories," they say.
Yoga
Charissa is a yogi. She calls her yoga studio "a sanctuary," to New Beauty. There is a laundry list of reasons to do yoga, explains Harvard Health. "Researchers found that people who practiced yoga for at least 30 minutes once a week for at least four years, gained less weight during middle adulthood," they said. "People who were overweight actually lost weight. Overall, those who practiced yoga had lower body mass indexes (BMIs) compared with those who did not practice yoga. Researchers attributed this to mindfulness. Mindful eating can lead to a more positive relationship with food and eating."
Hydration
Charissa travels a lot and maintains that hydration is key. "I forgot how flying airplanes and air-conditioned hotel rooms are tough on everything, so I tried to make sure that I stayed hydrated with my hair, my skin, my nails, all of those things. That's definitely something that is a big part of my routine: Hydration, in all facets," she told New Beauty. According to the Mayo Clinic, hydration is important for a variety of reasons. Water helps get rid of waste through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements, keeps your temperature normal, lubricates and cushions joints, and helps protect sensitive tissues.
Embracing Her Age
"I think I look good for my age, so I haven't thought about it too much," Charissa told New Beauty. "A bunch of my girlfriends from high school are going on a 40th birthday trip, so I'm looking forward to turning 40, mainly because I get to go on a vacation. Someone told me a long time ago to drink more water and use more sunscreen, and I'm still trying to make up for lost time…luckily, there's a lot of products out there that help reverse the signs of aging."
Golf
Charissa is also a golfer. A comprehensive review published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine found that golf's health benefits are extensive, including mind, body, and even lifespan. Benefits include improved longevity, decreased risk of developing heart disease or suffering a stroke, good mental health, and improved strength and balance.
