Professional golfer Lexi Thompson is getting ready for the 2024 season by hitting the gym. Thompson, 28, shared a picture of herself wearing shorts and a talk top, using a cable machine. “Few more days before heading out to get the 2024 season started 👊🏼💪🏼,” she captioned the post. “You are a rock star in the gym Lexi,” a fan commented. Thompson is the youngest golfer to qualify for the U.S. Women’s Open—here’s what her training and wellness regimen looks like.

1. Cardio and Strength Training

Thompson works out twice a day to stay competition-ready. “I’m not one to ever give my secrets away, however, the importance of weight training and cardio has been a major aspect of my life,” she told Modern Luxury Palm Beach. “I eat healthy all the time and include lots of protein. I try to make sure everything is balanced with my training regimen.”

2. Fitness First

Fitness is very important for Thompson, during both tournaments and the off season. “Weeks out on the LPGA Tour can sometimes be long and strenuous,” she told Athleisure Magazine. “I often arrive to a golf tournament on Monday of tournament week with two practice rounds prior to the first round of competition. When I’m at home, I work out twice in the gym daily. I always like to work out in the morning as I am an early riser and typically will do cardio later in the day… During my off-season you’ll most likely find me in the gym. Fitness is an extremely important part of my routine and has become an extremely important part of my overall life.”

3. Consistent Routine

Thompson has a consistent routine for tournaments. “My routine is extremely important to my success on the golf course,” she told Athleisure Magazine. “Prior to leaving for a tournament, I typically play multiple rounds of golf at my home course before leaving. I try to put the least amount of stress on my body during a tournament week, so I am prepared to go for round one and maintain my energy through the final round. By keeping a consistent routine, I am able to perform at the highest level consistently.”

4. Skincare Line

Lexi-ThompsonLexi Thompson/Instagram

Thompson was inspired to create her beauty line Lexi Skin after spending years in the sun for golf. “Skincare has always been a passion of mine,” she told Athleisure Magazine. “Playing golf and outdoor sports my whole life, I have had a ton of sun exposure. I have really had to learn how to protect my skin and as I have become a little older, prevent it from premature aging. I was introduced to Dr. Arthur Swift and Dr. Stewart Davis, and together we have developed unique anti-aging skin care products that are highly effective and priced appropriately for active women like me.”

5. LPGA Founders Award

Thompson won the 2023 LPGA Founders Award and is dedicated to her fans. “I’m very focused on my golf game as well. But I love to give back and see the fans out there and interact with all volunteers. That’s how my mom raised me,” Thompson told Sarah Kellam. “I always just try to make somebody else’s day better or put a smile on their face over myself. Could be a blessing and a curse, but honestly, it makes me feel better about myself if I make somebody else happier. That’s what we’re all trying to do. We’re trying to grow the game and LPGA.”

Mel Reid is playing golf – in her two-piece workout gear. In a new social media post the athlete shows off her amazing body in an exercise set while on the course. “Our ambassadors Mel Reid and Cameron Champ are ready for the action this weekend at the second annual @grantthorntoninv. Don’t miss the two players and their two tours come together for the most equal event in the game,” the Instagram post shared by Grant Thornton is captioned. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Mental Health

Mental,Health,Bulb,Word,Cloud,,Health,ConceptShutterstock

“Honestly, mental health is huge,” Mel told Golf. “It’s huge in all walks of life and I feel that athletes sometimes get a bad rap for speaking about it because we are seen as ‘superhuman.’ And I think there are some people out there who don’t know what we go through to be one of the best at what we do. I think social media has a lot to answer for also. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some Instagram and I really think there are some huge benefits from it, but I can certainly tell if I’m on it too much. I need to keep an eye on that,” she said. “Everyone should work on their mental health, though. It’s the foundation to everything. I’m really proud of the likes of Simone who is using her platform to speak about these issues that so many people can relate to. She has 100% of my support and I’ve been there and so I get it. And a side note: I’m also incredibly proud of the likes of Matt Wolf, too. It’s not an easy thing to do as people see it as a weakness. However I think the opposite: it’s strength beyond measure!!”

Snowboarding

When she isn’t golfing, you might find Mel on the mountains. “So I grew up basically playing every sport I could … skiing, tennis, hockey … but my main loves were snowboarding and football and still are when I’m not smacking a white ball around a field,” she told Golf. According to the University of Rochester, snowboarding, like skiing, is a great cardiovascular workout. “Because they are also weight-bearing exercises, they strengthen your bones as they tone your muscles,” they say. “Cardiovascular or aerobic exercises also work to reduce your risk for chronic diseases, and lower blood pressure. They also help you maintain a healthy body weight. Through regular aerobic exercise like skiing and snowboarding, you lower your risk of developing conditions like diabetes and heart disease, having a stroke, and perhaps even getting cancer.”

Running and Cycling

Mel uses cardio, “a 20-minute run or bike,” to deal with jet lag, she told Golf. The Cleveland Clinic explains that biking, a low-impact aerobic exercise, is great for building muscle, improving strength and flexibility, and improving balance. It can also boost mental health and help other health conditions, including arthritis.

Surfing And Paddle Boarding

Surf,Surfboard,On,The,Beach,At,SunsetShutterstock

Mel moved to Jacksonville, Florida and started getting into water sports.”The beauty of living in Jacksonville is paddle boarding or my new hobby of surfing. Surf wasn’t the best this week, though,” she said in the interview. According to the Australian government’s Better Health, surfing provides many health benefits including cardiovascular fitness from paddling, shoulder and back strength, which also strengthens from the paddling, and leg and core strength. “Once you’re standing up on the board, strong legs and a strong core will keep you up,” they say.

Here Is Her Workout

Mel revealed her workout to Golf, a density workout with side lunges, seated stretches, and basic calisthenics.

Nelly Korda, a highly successful golf player, is currently enjoying a trip to Malaysia. She recently shared highlights of her trip on Instagram, where she can be seen on the golf course, at the beach, and relaxing with a coffee. Korda’s posts show her in various workout clothes, offering a glimpse into her lifestyle. Golf remains the primary way she stays in shape, but her approach to fitness goes beyond just the game. Korda focuses on perfecting her technique, grip strength, and impact during practice while incorporating different workouts, like squats and rowing, to stay fit off the course.

1. She Golfs

Golf is the main way Korda stays fit. Better Health states that the sport is very beneficial. “Walking an average course for a round of golf can be between five to seven kilometres. If you walk 18 holes three to five times a week, you’ll get an optimal amount of endurance exercise for your heart. If you pull your clubs or carry them, you’ll burn even more calories each round and benefit even more.”

2. She Focuses On Grip Strength

Korda shared some of the things that she works on when she practices with Golf Monthly. “The first thing you want to check is if you’re gripping it correctly, it makes a huge difference in your swing,” she said. “You could easily be too weak or too strong and it will affect where the face of the club is. So grip is important as well as stance and where your weight is. Once you get those fundamentals all down, it’s so much easier to work on consistency and easier to work on shooting lower numbers.”

3. She Focuses On Impact

Korda also told Golf Monthly that she also focuses on impact when she practices. “I am mainly just working on impact. On the putting green I do a drill because your eye-line and eyesight change every single day. You may see the ball and your line differently every single day, so doing a line drill is really important as you start your putting. Try it for five minutes to make sure you dial in your alignment. Once you do that, then you work on your distance.”

4. She Does Lunge Squats

Korda shared some of her favorite workouts in this Instagram video. One thing she is seen doing is lunge squats with kettlebells. Korda captioned the post, “2 weeks @ home to train. Let’s go!” Squats have a lot of benefits, according to Piedmont. “Squats are a compound, multi-joint movement, which means they exercise several muscle groups. When you perform a squat, you work your calves, quads, hamstrings, glutes, core and part of your back.”

5. She Uses A Rowing Machine

Nelly Korda.5Nelly Korda/Instagram

Korda is also seen on a rowing machine in her Instagram video. The Cleveland Clinic states that this has a lot of health benefits. “Your abdominal muscles, lower back, obliques, glutes and hamstrings all get a workout during a session on a rowing machine. If you follow proper form, your core will be engaged during every single step of the rowing process. Strengthening those muscles is also key to maintaining stability and building speed.”

Ana Zelu is a professional model and social media influencer. She is known for her content in nature. Zelu recently shared a post on Instagram of herself on a surfboard in the ocean. She captioned it, “Yesterday was such a fun shoot, I just had to share these with you 🤍 🛥️But picture number #4?? That photobomb totally got me 😂 Which picture is your favorite ?🌊”

She Swims

As you can see from her post, Zelu likes to swim. The Mayo Clinic states that swimming has a lot of benefits. “Swimming is often touted as a great workout for all ages, offering benefits not only for the body, but also for the mind. As a form of exercise, swimming keeps your heart rate up and builds muscle strength. It also can be a great form of stress relief.”

She Doesn't Compare Herself to Others

Zelu shares a lot of her thoughts on Instagram. In this post, she talked about no longer comparing herself to others. “Dear Diary 💭📝, Today’s contemplation led me to a profound understanding of the detrimental impact comparison has on our lives. It’s like a silent intruder, subtly creeping into our thoughts and poisoning our perception of ourselves and others. It’s a universal struggle, one that weighs heavily on the hearts of many. I’ve come to realize that comparison is the ultimate thief of joy. It robs us of our ability to appreciate our own journey and achievements, as we constantly measure ourselves against an idealized version of others. I’ve resolved to break free from its grasp. We should choose to celebrate our own unique path, recognizing that each step forward is a triumph in itself. Rather than fixating on external benchmarks set by others, I’m focusing on personal growth and development. Whether it’s through learning new skills, cultivating gratitude, or simply practicing self-compassion, every effort counts.”

She Hikes

Zelu is seen on a hike in the previous Instagram post. Harvard Health states that hiking is very beneficial. “Like brisk walking, hiking is a good way to improve your cardiovascular fitness, particularly if your route includes some hills, which will force your heart to work harder. Taking a hike on the slightly uneven surface of a trail also provides a natural way to engage the core muscles in your torso and to hone your balance skills.”

She’s Resilient

Resilience is another important thing to Zelu. She talked about this in the caption of this Instagram post. “Dear Diary 💭📝, I witnessed something truly remarkable that touched my heart deeply. It’s amazing how people can go through the toughest storms in life and yet remain gentle, patient, and kind. I saw someone who faced challenges that would break most people, yet they chose to respond with grace and humility. Their ability to stay calm and compassionate in the face of adversity is nothing short of admirable. It made me realize the beauty of resilience – the strength to keep going even when life throws its hardest punches. These individuals not only endure the storms but also emerge from them with a spirit that shines brighter than before. Their example reminds me of the power of kindness and the importance of staying true to oneself, even in the darkest of times. It’s a reminder that even in the midst of chaos, there is beauty to be found 💕🫶”

She’s Accepted Herself

Zelu talked about the importance of acceptance in this Instagram post’s caption. “Dear Diary 💭📝, Today has been a rollercoaster of emotions, but amidst it all, I feel like I’ve taken a step closer to the right direction. Letting go of the past is like shedding a heavy coat I’ve been carrying for far too long. It’s not easy to release the memories, the pain, the regrets, but today, I made a choice to loosen the grip they had on me. It’s like taking a deep breath after being underwater for too long—refreshing and liberating. Forgiving myself has been a journey filled with tears and moments of self-doubt. But today, I finally understood that I deserve the same forgiveness and understanding I give to others. It’s like giving myself a warm hug, wrapping myself in kindness and acceptance.”
