Robert Buckley is a “vibe” – in his workout gear. In a new social media post the Hallmark hunk takes a blast to the past wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt with a fanny pack as he sips on a bottle of water. “Nothing has ever felt more right,” commented Sophia Bush. “Always a vibe,” added another follower. How does he approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about his lifestyle habits.
Music Motivates Him
Robert enjoys tunes while exercising. “Music is a must when I work out,” Buckley told Muscle & Fitness. “For example, my training session today, start to finish, was fueled by DMX, and it was a joy. I’m also motivated by this great quote I saw on Instagram: ‘Exercise shouldn’t be a punishment for what you ate. It should be a celebration of what your body can do.’ Now when I work out, it’s like, ‘Hey, way to go, body! Thanks for being able to do all this awesome stuff.’”
HIIT
ShutterstockHe also enjoys high intensity interval training. “When I’m in Vancouver with my trainer, we do really intense circuits, like assault bike, then squats, then bench, then pushing a sled, with only, like, a 30-second break between each thing. I like that because there’s no time to be bored. When there’s a two-minute break between sets in a workout, I catch myself being kind of ADD. With this one, you’re actually begging for more downtime because you’re hurting. It’s just constant stimulation,” he told the publication.
Weight Lifting
“I lift weights five times a week,” he says. According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:
- Develop strong bones
- Manage your weight
- Enhance your quality of life
- Manage chronic conditions
- Sharpen your thinking skills
He Hikes
Robert enjoys getting outside and taking hikes with his family. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:
- Building stronger muscles and bones
- Improving your sense of balance
- Improving your heart health
- Decreasing the risk of certain respiratory problems
Paleo Diet
During an interview with Buzzfeed, Robert revealed he was “kind of on this paleo kick,” which means he was eating a lot of meat -slash-protein without many carbs. According to clinical trials, consuming more protein than the recommended dietary allowance not only reduces body weight (BW), but also enhances body composition by decreasing fat mass while preserving fat-free mass (FFM) in both low-calorie and standard-calorie diets.
