How Nicolas Cage Stayed In Shape For "Massive Talent"

Cage is as sexy as ever playing two versions of himself in the hit film.

Nicolas Cage played young and current versions of himself in his new hit film, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, and both looked as healthy and virile as ever. The actor known for both action roles and serious dramatic turns played "Nick Cage," a fictionalized version of his real self, and "Nicky," a 1990s-era younger version, in the surreal action comedy, and he showed he is still vigorous enough to pull it off. Read on to see five ways Nicolas Cage stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.

We all know Cage is an unusual dude. So it may not be surprising that he decides which meat to consume based on how the animals have sex. He favors fish and fowl because of their dignified sexual relations, or so he says. You decide whether he's joking or not.

Cage makes sure to drink enough water, which helps his skin and protects his internal organs. Drinking enough water is key when it comes to overall health and wellness. "So how much fluid does the average, healthy adult living in a temperate climate need?" asks the Mayo Clinic. "The U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine determined that an adequate daily fluid intake is:

  • About 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of fluids a day for men
  • About 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) of fluids a day for women."

Cage eats a lot of vegetables and incorporates plenty of greens into his diet, giving him the vitamins, minerals and nutrients his body needs to stay healthy and in shape. "Spinach is high in vitamins A and C and folate. It's also a good source of magnesium. The plant compounds in spinach may boost your immune system. The carotenoids found in spinach — beta carotene, lutein and zeaxanthin — also are protective against age-related vision diseases, such as macular degeneration, as well as heart disease and some types of cancer," says the Mayo Clinic.

Cage makes small adjustments in his daily life to optimize his health and wellness. He takes the stairs instead of the elevator to squeeze more activity into his day, walks instead of driving and makes dozens of other healthy choices in everything he does.
