Irena Andersen, one of the most successful female bodybuilders in the IFBB, is also a dedicated trainer who continues to inspire with her impressive strength and discipline. In a recent Instagram video, Andersen talked about her upcoming competition, giving her followers a glimpse into her preparation. Wearing a black tank top, she tagged her training company, Wings Of Strength, in the post, showcasing her commitment to the bodybuilding community. Andersen has been consistently training since she was 15 years old, and she attributes much of her success to muscle memory and hard work. Beyond the gym, Andersen is passionate about advocating for female bodybuilders and enjoys the companionship of her dogs, which she often features on Instagram. From lifting weights to walking regularly, Andersen embraces a well-rounded fitness routine. Here's a deeper dive into the habits that keep her at the top of her game in bodybuilding and life.

1. She’s Consistent

Andersen makes sure to work out on a consistent basis. She talked about this in an interview on Wings Of Strength’s website. “I first started working out in a gym when I was 15 years old. I benefit from both muscle memory and muscle maturity. I’ve been training consistently for so long my body considers this degree of development to be ‘normal.’”

2. She Wants To Bring Attention To Female Bodybuilders

In her Wings Of Strength interview, Andersen talked about wanting to bring attention to the great female bodybuilders out there. “Even though I am in my fifties, I don’t feel I am slowing down. I am looking forward to the Rising Phoenix and the Ms. Olympia. And I am very happy with the reception Too Big For The World has received. Bodybuilding for women is truly ‘Something New Under The Sun’ and I look forward to more people coming to understand and appreciate what female bodybuilders have accomplished.”

3. She Plays With Her Dogs

Andersen has dogs, whom she prominently features on Instagram. She shared this video on her page of herself playing with one of them. According to Harvard Health, having a dog has a lot of benefits. “A growing body of solid research shows that owning a dog can: provide companionship, help you be more active, make kids calmer, more secure, and more responsible, improve the lives of older individuals, help you be calmer, more mindful, and more present in your life, make you more social and less isolated, ease stress.”

4. She Uses Weights

Being a bodybuilder, Andersen naturally likes to work out with weights. She shared this video on Instagram of herself using a dumbbell. ACE Fitness states that using weights has a lot of health benefits. “Lifting heavy weights increases production of the hormone IGF-1. This hormone is related to the production of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), which is a neurotransmitter responsible for stimulating the growth of new neural pathways in the brain along with enhancing communication between existing pathways. In short, lifting heavy could make you smarter by enhancing cognitive function.”

5. She Walks

In this Instagram video, Andersen is seen walking. Harvard Health reports that walking has a lot of benefits. “Harvard researchers looked at 32 obesity-promoting genes in over 12,000 people to determine how much these genes actually contribute to body weight. Among the study participants who walked briskly for about an hour a day, the effects of those genes were cut in half.”

We are committed to bringing you researched, expert-driven content to help you make more informed decisions around food, health, and wellness. We know how important making choices about your overall health is, and we strive to provide you with the best information possible.

Margita Zámolová is a personal trainer and IFBB champion. Last month, she did a training session with Andrea Breihof. Breihof shared their session on Instagram, captioning it, “I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful Margita ❤️. Your training session was truly enjoyable; we pushed ourselves to muscle failure, and it was refreshing to incorporate supersets again after such a long time. Remember, never let go of your dreams, no matter how distant they may seem. Every step forward, no matter how small, brings you closer to your goals. Consistency and perseverance are key.”

She Lifts Weights

Zámolová likes to lift weights to keep herself in shape. She is seen doing so in this Instagram video. Lifting weights has a lot of benefits. ACE Fitness states, “Using heavy weights increases intramuscular coordination, the number of type II motor units and the amount of muscle fibers engaged within a specific muscle. Have you ever felt your muscles shaking while lifting heavy weights? This is because you are recruiting and activating the larger type II muscle fibers, which are only stimulated to work when a muscle is challenged with heavy resistance or working to fatigue.”

She Loves Cucumbers

Zámolová shared some of her favorite meals in this Instagram photo. In one of her bowls, she is seen eating cucumbers. The Cleveland Clinic states that cucumbers are very healthy. “Cucumbers belong to the gourd or Cucurbitaceae family, along with pumpkins, squash and melons. This low-calorie fruit (yes, a fruit — it has seeds and grows from a flowering plant!) is chock-full of water and other nutrients, including fiber, vitamins A, K and C, potassium and calcium. One serving equals about 100 grams, or one-third of a medium-size cucumber.”

She Loves Tomatoes

Group,Of,Fresh,TomatoesShutterstock

Zámolová is also seen eating tomatoes in the previous Instagram photo. The Cleveland Clinic states that tomatoes have a lot of benefits. “A fruit that’s often mistakenly called (and prepared like) a vegetable, tomatoes offer fiber, vitamin C, potassium, folate and more. And the bright red color of a ripe tomato isn’t just a feast for the eyes. The color comes from lycopene (giving tomatoes their red pigment) and beta-carotene (contributing the orangey glow), two antioxidants responsible for some of the health benefits of tomatoes.”

She Swims

Zámolová likes to swim to keep herself in shape. She shares a lot of posts on Instagram of herself in the water. Zámolová shared this photo of herself in the pool in Boca Raton. She also included some photos of herself in the water in this Instagram post. Better Health states that swimming has a lot of benefits. “Swimming is a good all-round activity because it: keeps your heart rate up but takes some of the impact stress off your body, builds endurance, muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness, helps you maintain a healthy weight, healthy heart and lungs, tones muscles and builds strength, provides an all-over body workout, as nearly all of your muscles are used during swimming.”

She Hikes

Zámolová likes to go hiking to keep herself in shape. She shared this photo on Instagram of herself hiking in Valley of Fire State Park. Zámolová captioned it, “We wish you good health, good luck and great people in places where you will feel good in 2023 too! :)” Harvard Health states that hiking has a lot of benefits. “Walking is great exercise, but sometimes you need a break from your usual neighborhood loop or the monotony of the basement treadmill. Head out for a hike instead. It's similar to walking but can give you a fitness boost along with a dose of novelty and adventure. And not only is hiking great exercise, it doesn't require much equipment.”

Renee Jewett is a fitness influencer and IFBB wellness professional. She shares a lot of wellness advice on Instagram. In a recent post, Jewett encouraged her followers to fell confident with themselves and their bodies. “To all the girls who didn’t feel seen back then, and even now: you’re more than enough, just as you are. Here’s to embracing the body we live in every day, not trying to fit into someone else’s mold. ❤️”

She's Confident In Herself

In her recent post’s caption, Jewett talked about her journey with body positivity and finding confidence. “Growing up in the 90s, the ‘ideal’ body type was plastered everywhere—thin, flat stomach, not muscular, barely-there curves (I was obsessed with VS Angels). Low-rise jeans weren’t made for girls like me so when I would go shopping for school clothes I would always have melt downs because nothing ever fit me right 😔 I was never a thin girl, and back then, it felt like I wasn’t ‘enough’ because of it. Diet culture had us believing we had to shrink to fit in—literally. Over time, I learned something powerful: my worth isn’t tied to a number on a scale or the size of my jeans and I love being curvy! Bodies are meant to be strong, healthy, and unique, NOT trends that come and go.”

She Eats Healthy

Jewett makes sure to eat healthy. She shared her approach to her diet in the caption of this Instagram post. “Kcal 2595. Protein 223g. Carbs 313g. Fat 50g. This is what a typical day of eating looks like. Some days I’ll have more time and macro match meals for something I’ve been wanting. I can be pretty flexible with my food options since I’m working within a pretty high calorie allotment. I’ve embraced the ‘no food is off limits’ concept, if I want it, I have it 😉”

She Loves Dried Fruit

A photo of dried dates.

Renee Jewett/Instagram

In the previous Instagram post, Jewett shared some of her favorite foods. One thing she loves eating is dried fruit. She shared why in the caption. “I’ve incorporated some dried fruits (usually dates and raisins) into my meal plan to keep food volume a bit lower, this way it’s easier to get in all my meals without feeling overly full. We’ll see how high my food gets pushed this growth phase 💪🏼😋Stay fed my friends.”

She Cooks

One way that Jewett makes sure to eat healthily is by cooking her own meals. She shares a lot of her favorites on Instagram. In this video, Jewett is seen making a jalapeno cheddar chicken burger. She captioned it, “My life changed when I realized I can reach my physique goals but eat delicious stuff too. This is basically a chicken breast… just funner. Today was an off day from the gym so that means poverty calories, so instead of a bun I made a lettuce wrap burger. Was it messy? Yes. But was it spicy, cheesy and delicious? Also yes. I have so many jalapeños and habaneros in my garden I have to find creative ways to use them.”

She Swims

One thing Jewett likes to do to keep herself in shape is going for a swim. She shared this photo on Instagram of herself in the pool. Jewett captioned the post, “We hit 85° today so I jumped in the pool which was definitely not 85° 🥶 I think the reason people like cold plunges is because it feels so terrible while you’re in it that getting out is exhilarating 😅”

CrossFit Stunner Andrea Nisler in Two-Piece Workout Gear Shares "a Good Week of Lifting"

We are committed to bringing you researched, expert-driven content to help you make more informed decisions around food, health, and wellness. We know how important making choices about your overall health is, and we strive to provide you with the best information possible.

Andrea Nisler, a dedicated CrossFit athlete, motivates her followers with her strength-focused workout routines. Recently, she shared a video on Instagram showcasing a variety of dumbbell exercises, including squats and Romanian deadlifts (RDLs), captioning it, “A good week of lifting - that is all 🙂 Looking forward to continuing to make it the focus this winter. Being strong > cardio (imo).” From lifting heavy to balancing cardio, Nisler demonstrates how to build both strength and endurance for optimal fitness.

She Lifts Weights

As you can see from her Instagram post, Nisler likes to lift weights to keep herself in shape. ACE Fitness states that using weights has a lot of benefits. “Using maximal loads for compound (multi-joint) movements like the deadlift, squat-to-shoulder press, bent-over row or chest press can improve intermuscular coordination, which is the ability of many muscles to work together to generate and control high levels of force through multiple joints. Lifting heavy weights elevates levels of anabolic hormones—specifically testosterone, growth hormone and insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1)—which are used to repair muscle fibers damaged during exercise. This helps the muscle fibers to become thicker and capable of generating higher levels of force.”

She Does Squats

Nisler is also seen doing squats in her Instagram video. According to Allina Health, squats have a lot of health benefits. “The squat is one of the all-around best exercises to do for your lower body. It strengthens and tones muscles in your thighs, butt and calves and improves posture, balance, flexibility and inner core strength. Squatting also improves bone mineral density to keep your bones strong.”

She Does RDLs

Nisler is also seen doing RDLs in her Instagram video. ACE Fitness states that the exercise has a lot of benefits. “The Romanian deadlift (RDL) is a traditional barbell lift used to develop the strength of the posterior chain muscles, including the erector spinae, gluteus maximus, hamstrings and adductors. When done correctly, the RDL is an effective exercise that helps strengthen both the core and the lower body with one move. Unlike the traditional barbell deadlift and other quad-dominant exercises such as leg presses, which place significant loads on the anterior portion of the knees, the RDL focuses most of the physical work on the muscles responsible for extending the hip and the knee from the posterior.”

She Uses A Fitness Bike

Nisler likes to use a stationary bike to keep herself in shape. She shared this video on Instagram of herself riding one at different intervals. Penn State PRO Wellness states that using a stationary bike has a lot of benefits. “Riding a stationary exercise bike is an efficient and effective way to burn calories and body fat while strengthening your heart, lungs, and muscles. Compared to some other types of cardio equipment, a stationary bicycle puts less stress on your joints, but it still provides an excellent aerobic workout.”

She Uses A Treadmill

Nisler also likes to walk on a treadmill to keep herself in shape. She is seen doing so in the beginning of this workout video on her Instagram. Healthy Talbot states, “Treadmills provide outstanding cardiovascular exercises, which can significantly enhance your heart health. Thanks to their ability to maintain constant heart rates throughout the exercise. If you’ve high cholesterol or cardiovascular issues, this can be very beneficial. They can help to diagnose cardiac issues like heart disease and artery blockages. Under normal circumstances, your body may not exhibit symptoms of these heart conditions. However, when put under pressure through a workout, those symptoms will be displayed.”

In addition to her impressive acting ability, the star is a total bombshell and has one of the fittest figures in Hollywood. Here are the top 5 habits that help her stay fit at 27.

Water Skiing

Sydney has been water skiing since she was a toddler. “The moment I could walk, my mom put me on what’s called a U-board to learn how to ski,” she told Women’s Health. “I remember that whenever we would go by the docks of my grandma’s or my cousin’s house, I’d wave. I felt so cool because I could take off one hand. That’s my earliest memory of skiing, but I’ve been doing it as long as I can remember. It’s my favorite.” How does it help her achieve her amazing body? “It’s a lot of upper body strength, it’s balance, it’s core, it’s legs—you get tired really fast,” she says. “I see such a change in my body after an entire summer of [skiing]. My arms are stronger, more sculpted. My abs are rock solid. But I never look at it as a workout because it is so much fun,” she said.

Morning Workouts

Sydney mixes up her exercise routine, but likes to get workouts over with early in the day. “I like to work out in the morning, so I’ll either go for a run or I’ll go to Solidcore,” says Sydney. The high-intensity, low-impact Pilates-inspired workout “makes me feel so strong, but also elongated,” Sydney said about her sweat sessions. “I feel so good afterwards.”

Self-Care

Sydney engages in self-care activities. “I love to paint, and I love to read,” she said. “Those are the activities that are just for me.” One Harvard study published in Social Science & Medicine found that people who read books regularly had a 20% lower risk of dying over the next 12 years than those who weren't readers or who read periodicals.

She Walks and Hikes

One of the ways she treats her anxiety is by spending time outdoors with her dog, Tank. She takes him on walks or hikes. Going for a daily walk can be a game changer, especially at a brisk speed. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day reduced the risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia, and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.

Mariana Morais is showing off her ab-fab figure – in a two-piece exercise set. In a new social media post, the fitness influencer flaunts her fantastic figure in a brown sports bra and leggings. “Self Progress & Development is not always linear. Sometimes we take steps back & that’s just a sign to course correct so we can leap forward. If 2024 wasn’t the year you expected, use it as an opportunity to learn, grow, & carry on. It’s you VS you - continue to try, focus on consistency > perfection & you will prevail 🤎 rooting for us all to strengthen our mind & bodies this year,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Strength Training

Mariana relies on old-school strength training to keep her body toned. “Training till failure instead of reps + taking my ab routine up a notch by incorporating weighted exercises,” she wrote about one of her workout tactics. “I can feel my muscles being challenged and am in tune with my movements.” According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Prioritizing Digestion and Getting Blood Work Done

Other healthy habits? “Prioritizing digestion,” she writes in the same post. “Making sure I get enough fiber & starting off every morning with a juice cleanse. This has helped me feel so much better everyday.” She also gets regular blood work done. “So important to check your levels and know what’s going on in your body routinely! Don’t skip the doc apts, always better to be preventative.”

Mariana enjoys hiking. “Elevation therapy,” she captioned a post from one of her fitness adventures. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:

  • Building stronger muscles and bones
  • Improving your sense of balance
  • Improving your heart health
  • Decreasing the risk of some respiratory issues

Mariana does reformer Pilates. “POV: Stepping into the prettiest torture chamber,” she wrote across a video of herself at the studio. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Emsculpt NEO

Mariana recently got an aesthetic body treatment, Emsculpt NEO. “I’ve heard all the rage about the benefits to spot reducing fat & toning muscle so I had to give it a try to target those pesky lower abs. It was a 10/10 & a great addition to my workout routine,” she wrote.
