Katja Mia, a model and presenter known for The Six O’Clock Show and Dancing With The Stars, recently shared her evolving approach to wellness on Instagram. Mia posted gym selfies and opened up about her commitment to long-lasting healthy changes. “This process is going to take a while, but I’m going to enjoy it... I’m in it for long-lasting healthy changes this time round,” she wrote. Here’s how Mia is focusing on her health, career, and self-care.

1. She’s Changing Her Approach

In her Instagram post, Mia opened up about her past struggles with dieting and body image. She says that she is approaching wellness in a healthier way now. “To think there was a time when I was 14-15 and I only allowed myself to have 3 bowls of bran flakes each day because I knew it was exactly 115 calories and then binge eat to a point of sickness 😳 let’s be honest, I’ve never had a healthy relationship with food which is why my weight has yo-yo’ed my whole life. It took me having an autoimmune disorder (which is quite common I hear) and having to take medication everyday to finally get my act together and want to help myself..the right way this time 🫶🏾 “

2. She’s Doing What Makes Her Happy

Mia opened up about her career in an interview with RTE. She says that she decided to follow her passions, instead of worrying about money. "I think, as a result of that, when you’re a child, you’re almost thinking, 'OK, what job can I get to just make money?’ You don’t even think about your happiness. But money can’t be your only motivator in life. During Covid, I had all that time to think, well, what am I actually passionate about? What job feels like ‘me’?

3. She Pushed Herself

Mia opened up about her time on Dancing With The Stars in her RTE interview. She says that she really pushed herself during that time, and is grateful for it. "Looking back, I’m really surprised at how much I challenged myself, and I'm really glad that I did it. I think a lot of people look at it from the outside and think it's all glitter and a bit of dancing, but my God, it was probably the hardest work that I've done in my whole life.”

4. She Loves Family and Friends

For Mia, self-care means surrounding herself with loved ones. She tells RTE, "I love having family and friends over for food; I love hosting, I love being at home. That's how I relax. Even during DWTS, we’d have rehearsals on Saturday for about two, three hours. But Saturday was always date night, to either see my friends, my family, or me and Daragh would always do a date night."

5. She Takes Care Of Her Skin

Mia has amazing skin, and she makes sure to take care of it. She tells RSVP that skincare is a priority of hers. “I believe beauty is all about a good skincare regime and, to me, it’s also a form of self-care,” Mia said. “I favour result-driven skincare and I advocate double (sometimes triple) cleansing, followed by an active serum, eye cream and superb hydrators to futureproof my face.”
