Nastia Liukin is wowing her followers with her new swimsuit snaps. The gymnast shows off her incredible body in a bathing suit in one of her latest social media posts, a series of photos taken from the beach. “Offline is the new luxury,” she captioned the Instagram pics. How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Nastia Liukin stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.

1. She Exercises

Exercise is a priority for Nastia. "I always feel better when I get in a workout," she says, "even if it's 30 minutes or 20 minutes of something, every single day," she told Today. "I think the most important thing to know is, you'll never regret a workout when it's over. And it's just hard to tell yourself that before you've done it. But just try to remember how you feel after your workout, and know that when you feel good, you look good, and you have more confidence, and so I think that that's really important." If she lifts weights, “it's probably very light weights, five to ten pounds, no more than that," she added.

2. She Runs

"The most effective for me is running, though it's not my favorite," Natasia told Today about her go-to workout. "But if I need to get in shape quickly, I need to run." According to the Mayo Clinic, running is great for cardiovascular health, muscle building, and weight loss. “For every mile run, the average person will burn approximately 100 calories,” they say.

3. She Boxes, Does Barre, and Hot Yoga

Nastia has a few other workouts she throws into the mix. “I love boxing with my trainer. I love barre classes and hot yoga. I love Pilates. That really elongates you, but it’s also important to do some kind of cardio and now that the weather’s nice I love running along the West Side. It’s a beautiful view. I take spinning classes, too,” she told The Cut.

4. Her Diet Is Clean

Nastia focuses on eating clean. "A lot of protein, a lot of vegetables, a lot of greens. I don't really eat too many carbs, and if I do, it's brown rice or quinoa,” she told Today about her go-to foods. “I really love green juices,” she added to Today. “I don't necessarily do green juice cleanses for a week long, but if I'm not feeling that great, I'll just do a one or two day juice cleanse, and it will just pick me right back up." Her favorite? "Kale, spinach, celery, parsley, ginger. If I feel like I want it a little sweeter, I put in apples."

5. She Cheats

Natasia does allow herself to cheat. Her favorite? Dark chocolate. “I try to tell myself, you know, a little bit is always good for you! I do like cookies or frozen yogurt. My favorite is they have almond-milk ice cream now — I try not to do too much dairy, so that's always a good replacement,” she told Today.

Gymnast Nastia Liukin is like all of us…in the fact that she wants to be in Hawaii right now, and desires warmer weather to arrive soon. Liukin posted a stunning new photo on Instagram of a previous beach trip she took. She posed by the water in a tiger stripe one piece, showing off her body. How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Nastia Liukin stays in shape and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bathing Suit Photos!

1. She’s Not Afraid To Push Herself

Being an Olympian is a great accomplishment, however, it also comes with a lot of difficulties. Many Olympic athletes are open about the pressure they face to show up and represent their country, especially after previous success. Liukin says that she didn’t let this pressure get to her, even when she came into the 2012 trials injured. Liukin tells Coveteur that she didn’t want to live life with any regrets, and still pushed herself to try. “I won gold at the 2008 Olympics. So when people started talking 2012, I didn’t want to be on the sidelines thinking, ‘What if? What if I’d tried out?’ Ignoring that I had an injured labrum and torn rotator cuff—with no time for surgery—I powered through and trained...and fell flat on my face during trials. I knew my dreams of a second Olympics were over, but I pulled myself up and finished the routine anyway, and, amazingly, it was the first standing ovation of my career—20,000 people on their feet, applauding because I’d finished. That’s wellness to me: realizing that life isn’t about winning. That it’s about finishing what you started and enjoying the journey along the way.”

2. She Takes Care Of Her Mental Health

Liukin tells Coveteur that she makes sure to take care of her mental health, especially after retiring from gymnastics. She says that she does a lot of things each day that helps take care of her mental health. “It’s funny because, as a gymnast, I was always physically exhausted—now that I’m retired, I’m more mentally exhausted. So, I like to write my thoughts in a journal; if I don’t have my journal, I write in my phone. But, really, my mental health revolves around two things: meditating, which to me is just closing my eyes and taking deep breaths and stepping away from my phone.”

3. She Alternates Her Workouts

The 2020 Beverly Hills Dog ShowSarah Morris/Getty Images

Liukin says to Coveteur that she likes to alternate the type of exercises she does. She says that she does this to target different areas of her body, and keep herself interested in working out. “I never like to do the same routine two days in a row, and I like to alternate between boxing, yoga and pilates—especially boxing because it’s toning and cardio at the same time.”

4. She Makes Time To Exercise On Vacation

While Liukin might not be an athlete anymore, she still makes working out a priority. Liukin says to Coveteur that she still works out when she’s on vacation, even if it’s just a quick session. “When I’m on the road, I still make sure to get the blood pumping every day—even if it’s just a few squats and push-ups in my hotel room.”

5. She Doesn’t Sleep In Anymore

Celebrities Visit Hallmark's "Home & Family"Paul Archuleta/Getty Images

Liukin revealed on her website that she loves to sleep. However, she says that she’s trying to break her past habits of sleeping in, and hitting the snooze button. “I’d become a classic ‘snoozer’, continuing to want just five more minutes of extra zzz’s,” she writes. Liukin says that she has found some products and rituals that have helped her avoid sleeping in. “I’ve found the Hatch Restore is essential for my sleep- allowing me not to hit snooze and gradually wake up feeling more rested and ready to take on the day. Setting my phone on a table away from my bed was also a huge help for me, too

1. She’s A Gymnast

Liukin’s impressive figure is likely due to her extensive training in gymnastics, and her representing the United States in the 2008 Olympics. While she no longer competes professionally, Liukin is still finding time to return to her sport, like in this Instagram video.

2. She Makes Working Out Fun

Liukin tells HollywoodLife that one of her biggest secrets to working out consistently is making exercise fun. She says, “You don’t have to be training for the Olympics, just do something active! Make it fun! I mean, skating with your friends in Bryant Park? That’s awesome! But you don’t have to be in New York City. It doesn’t matter where you are, just get your body moving. Obviously, it’s easy in the summer but the winter is just as important. The earlier we teach these young kids, the better, because habits do stick. No matter what, it has to be fun. Everything you do — it should be fun and you have to be passionate about it. Gymnastics isn’t for everyone. You have to find something YOU love to do and that is fun for you and stick to it.”

3. She Treats Herself

When it comes to Liukin’s diet and eating habits, she admits that she likes to treat herself once in a while. “The biggest thing is to treat yourself, because if you tell yourself you can’t have something, that’s all you’re going to want,” she says to HollywoodLife. “I remember my mom always told me, if you want a cookie, have a cookie, just don’t have the whole box!”

4. She’s A Believer In Moderation

While Liukin does like to treat herself, she is also a believer in moderation when it comes to her eating. She tells HollywoodLife, “My number one thing is moderation. If you know on a Saturday night you have a party, and there’s going to be tons of not-great food and desserts, try to be good that week and have some salads, greens, and proteins from Monday through Friday. On Saturday, you can indulge and not feel so bad. I’m all about moderation and just living. Life is short and you don’t want to be miserable. Indulge, but maybe not every single day!”

5. She Works Out At Home

Liukin tells HollywoodLife that she always tries to squeeze in a workout no matter where she is. She says that she will often work out in her home if she isn’t able to hit the gym. “If I can't get out to do a class, in my house, I do squats, pushups, a little circuit.”

6. She Varies Her Exercises

So at the end of the day, I like to focus on self care, my nighttime routine and turning off all notifications for the night. The combo of journaling and meditation is my saving grace for clearing my mind and focusing on my day. So working with a trainer and trying out all of these different studio classes has been really fun because I get to try out different exercises, but someone is telling me what to do and when to go.”

5. She Loves Green Juice

Liukin shared her diet to TODAY.com. She says that she likes to do green juice cleanses. “I really love green juices. In addition to her impressive acting ability, the star is a total bombshell and has one of the fittest figures in Hollywood. Here are the top 5 habits that help her stay fit at 27.

Water Skiing

Sydney Sweeney arrives to "The Road to the Golden Globes Party"

Sydney has been water skiing since she was a toddler. “The moment I could walk, my mom put me on what’s called a U-board to learn how to ski,” she told Women’s Health. “I remember that whenever we would go by the docks of my grandma’s or my cousin’s house, I’d wave. I felt so cool because I could take off one hand. That’s my earliest memory of skiing, but I’ve been doing it as long as I can remember. It’s my favorite.” How does it help her achieve her amazing body? “It’s a lot of upper body strength, it’s balance, it’s core, it’s legs—you get tired really fast,” she says. “I see such a change in my body after an entire summer of [skiing]. My arms are stronger, more sculpted. My abs are rock solid. But I never look at it as a workout because it is so much fun,” she said.

Morning Workouts

Sydney mixes up her exercise routine, but likes to get workouts over with early in the day. “I like to work out in the morning, so I’ll either go for a run or I’ll go to Solidcore,” says Sydney. The high-intensity, low-impact Pilates-inspired workout “makes me feel so strong, but also elongated,” Sydney said about her sweat sessions. “I feel so good afterwards.”

Self-Care

Sydney engages in self-care activities. “I love to paint, and I love to read,” she said. “Those are the activities that are just for me.” One Harvard study published in Social Science & Medicine found that people who read books regularly had a 20% lower risk of dying over the next 12 years than those who weren't readers or who read periodicals.

She Walks and Hikes

One of the ways she treats her anxiety is by spending time outdoors with her dog, Tank. She takes him on walks or hikes. Going for a daily walk can be a game changer, especially at a brisk speed. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day reduced the risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia, and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.

Sometimes we take steps back & that’s just a sign to course correct so we can leap forward. If 2024 wasn’t the year you expected, use it as an opportunity to learn, grow, & carry on. It’s you VS you - continue to try, focus on consistency > perfection & you will prevail 🤎 rooting for us all to strengthen our mind & bodies this year,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Strength Training

Mariana relies on old-school strength training to keep her body toned. “Training till failure instead of reps + taking my ab routine up a notch by incorporating weighted exercises,” she wrote about one of her workout tactics. “I can feel my muscles being challenged and am in tune with my movements.” According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Other healthy habits? “Prioritizing digestion,” she writes in the same post. “Making sure I get enough fiber & starting off every morning with a juice cleanse. This has helped me feel so much better everyday.” She also gets regular blood work done. “So important to check your levels and know what’s going on in your body routinely! Don’t skip the doc apts, always better to be preventative.”

Hiking

Mariana enjoys hiking. “Elevation therapy,” she captioned a post from one of her fitness adventures. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:

  • Building stronger muscles and bones
  • Improving your sense of balance
  • Improving your heart health
  • Decreasing the risk of some respiratory issues

Mariana does reformer Pilates. “POV: Stepping into the prettiest torture chamber,” she wrote across a video of herself at the studio. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Emsculpt NEO

Mariana recently got an aesthetic body treatment, Emsculpt NEO. “I’ve heard all the rage about the benefits to spot reducing fat & toning muscle so I had to give it a try to target those pesky lower abs. It was a 10/10 & a great addition to my workout routine,” she wrote.
