Nur Sajat in Bathing Suit Says "Morning"

Here’s how she stays fit, confident, and healthy.

It's winter in Australia, but activist and influencer Nur Sajat isn't letting cold weather stop her from wearing her favorite bathing suits. The Sydney-based Malaysian model shared a picture of herself posing in front of a mirror in her home, wearing an orange bathing suit. A very down-to-earth-touch was the basket of laundry in the background (hey, talk about keeping it real). "Morning🇦🇺☕️," she captioned the post. "Gorgeous!" commented a fan. How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Sajat stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.

1

She Loves to Dance

Sajat enjoys dancing, which can be a fun way to do aerobic and cardio workouts. Research shows regular dance sessions can also benefit mental health. "Dancing also has a range of mental health and wellbeing benefits. It can help you to engage with your emotions and connect with other people," says Laura McKay, senior physiotherapist at Bupa UK. "Some research suggests that regular dancing can improve your quality of life and help you feel less stressed."

2

Regular Facials

Sajat enjoys regular facials as part of her wellness and self-care routine. Self-care is known to have many mental health benefits, experts say. "A professional-grade facial helps maintain the skin's natural elasticity through refining the texture of the skin," says lead aesthetician Lisa Lincoln. "Facials also contribute to cellular regeneration which helps our skin prevent premature aging."

Non-Alcoholic Wine

Sajat likes the occasional glass of non-alcoholic wine, which is a great way to get antioxidants without the downsides. "Some research studies suggest that red and purple grape juices may provide some of the same heart benefits of red wine," says Mayo Clinic dietician Katherine Zeratsky, RD. "Including reducing the risk of blood clots, reducing low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, preventing damage to blood vessels in your heart and helping maintain a healthy blood pressure."

4

Treadmill Sessions

Sajat loves using the treadmill for cardio. "There are many benefits to adding treadmill training into your exercise routine and the convenience of the machine makes it a useful tool in commercial and home gyms," says registered physiotherapist Sam Preston. "It's important to vary the style of your training, as there are different adaptations and responses to each stimulus you apply to the body."

5

Inspiring Others

Sajat is proud of her journey as a businesswoman. "When I reached Australia, I felt peace," she says. "And even though I had to start from zero, I'm actually blossoming when it comes to my career as a businesswoman… It's kind of sad, but at the same time it's empowering. I want to prove to the trans community that there's hope. My achievement shows everybody, not just LGBT people, that there's always a second chance in life."
