MyKayla Skinner is sweating up a storm in her workout clothes. In a new social media post the Olympic gymnast shows off her medal-winning figure in a two-piece exercise set during a strength training session at Burn Boot Camp. “Killing it 🔥🔥,” commented one of her followers. “Damn u r so strong 💪,” added another. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

1. Hydration

Close-up,Of,Reusable,,Steel,Thermo,Water,Bottle,,Matte,Of,Color,Shutterstock

MyKayla understands the importance of hydration. "[I'm] always trying my best to stay hydrated, but it never seems good enough. I drink my 32-ounce water bottle for gym time and sometimes a bit more. Whenever I go out to eat, I drink water. So, yeah, [I don't drink] that much. But I’m getting better since water helps with recovery,” she told Delish.

2. Self-Care

Self care is important for MyKayla. She does ice baths and also puts “just my ankles in an ice bucket,” she tells Bustle. “When I have time to relax, I love to watch Netflix or go see a movie or just chill with family and friends at the pool. [Gymnastics] is on my mind all the time, so any time that I can totally get my mind off of it is really nice.”

3. Pickleball and Hiking

MyKayla explains that “gymnastics really makes you good at any sport” and that it is “fun to try different things and see what else that I'm good at.” She recently started playing pickleball and also hitting the trails “to explore and go hiking.”

4. Mostly Gluten-Free and Lots of Protein

"I used to eat whatever I wanted," MyKayla told Delish about her Diet "The last couple months I’ve changed my diet. I’m now gluten-free except for the weekends." Her favorite meals when she isn’t training are "pizza and ice cream or In-N-Out" and French fries. Before meets she always just tries for "something that has a lot of protein."

5. Strength Training

In her recent Instagram post MyKayla does a strength-training boot camp workout. According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

We are committed to bringing you researched, expert-driven content to help you make more informed decisions around food, health, and wellness. We know how important making choices about your overall health is, and we strive to provide you with the best information possible.

Mikaela Mayer is a powerhouse in professional boxing, known for her dedication to the sport and her impressive accolades, including titles in the WBO and IBF. Recently, Mayer shared highlights from a fight on Instagram, sporting a vibrant lime-green workout set. She captioned the post, “Loved the lime green. Time to start planning the next one. Watcha think?” Beyond her eye-catching gear, Mayer’s commitment to intense training, recovery, and resilience has helped her build a career that’s as inspiring as it is formidable. Here’s a closer look at how she maintains peak performance.

She Does Intense Workouts

Mayer keeps her workouts intense. She described them in an interview with Equinox. “I work out four hours a day, six days a week. I have a two-hour training session starting at 9 a.m. I start with a warm-up before running intervals. My pace has to be fast and explosive. I’ll do eight two-minute sprints. Sometimes I do suicides—I’ll run for 45 seconds with a minute rest between, and I’ll do it 15 times.”

She Eats A Lot Of Protein

Mayer revealed to Equinox that she eats a protein-rich diet. “I eat every two hours so I never feel low on energy. My diet emphasizes a lot of protein and vegetables, and I eat small portions. I have an iron deficiency so I eat red meat about three times a week. I’m not big on fish unless it’s raw. I love sushi and eat it once or twice a week. I also eat a lot of chicken breast.”

She Learns From Failures

Mayer doesn’t let her setbacks define her. She tells Men’s Journal that she likes to learn from them. “Going into my first Olympic year, making it to the finals and then losing, and then losing by only two points … that was rough. But I knew I had so much more to learn. I hadn’t hit my peak yet, and the dream was still alive. When you have a dream, you have a dream.”

She Recovers

Mayer makes sure to recover, and shared her process with Equinox. “There’s an amazing recovery room with massage, a cold plunge, a Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna at the Olympic Training Center. I usually go after my morning training session. I do dry needling once a week. It’s not the same as acupuncture. The needle goes deeper and is attached to electric stimulation so it pulsates. I do it for about five minutes, usually on my IT bands because they tighten up a lot. It’s aggressive and leaves a little bruising, but it works.”

She Does A Variety Of Workouts

I strength train, focusing on my core and shoulders with push-ups, pull-ups and Russian twists. I do a lot of I’s, T’s and Y’s using the TRX and also for push-ups so I engage my core more than I would normally. My second two-hour workout is a boxing session at 3 p.m. I start with a 15-minute warm-up, which includes a series of rotational movements because my coach is big on getting full extension out of my punches. Next is two to four rounds of shadowboxing drills. It’s a time for me to think about my combinations and technique and drill them into my subconscious. Sometimes I’ll circle around the ring, moving forward, backward and side-to-side. All of those angles are really important when you’re throwing punches. I’ll finish the session with sparring or mitt work. I spar three times a week, usually six three-minute rounds at a time. Sometimes it’s technical work, and if I do a bag session, it’s for 10 rounds.

In a new social media post the activewear blogger shows off her amazing body in workout gear while at a rock climbing gym with a friend. “Get ready to monkey around with @KylieRae on #IRL,” the Instagram video is captioned. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Rock Climbing

In the video Kylie goes rock climbing. According to the NHS, rock climbing boasts mental and physical health benefits. It can improve stamina while working multiple muscle groups at once. “Climbing involves concentration and thought, as well as physical exercise, which helps to keep you focused, clear your mind of outside worries, and build your confidence and self-esteem,” they add. “This may help to alleviate the symptoms of some mental health problems.”

Sauna

Kylie likes to unwind in the sauna. “Hot, literally,” she captioned a post from inside. Should you take a dry sauna? While some claim the health benefits of saunas are plentiful, including detoxification, increased metabolism, weight loss, increased blood circulation, pain reduction, antiaging, skin rejuvenation, improved cardiovascular function, improved immune function, improved sleep, stress management, and relaxation, there isn’t a lot of research backing up the claims.

Baths and Hot Tub Soaks

She is also a fan of baths and soaking in the hot tub. Here she is on a mountain vacation enjoying the hot water and cold air. “I never want to leave 💖❄️,” she captioned the post. How can baths do your body and mind good? They have been linked to better sleep and even found helpful to minimize anxiety and depression. One recent study even found that they may even boast cardiovascular benefits.

Boot Camp

Kylie enjoys boot camp fitness. “Saturday sweat sesh/ boot camp with @inanna & @matthew_noszka 💪🏼💙☀️ (ps i know today is Sunday but it was yesterday 🙃) 15 stations 2 rounds each. I was dead after this but it’s so fun getting a group together & all motivating each other to keep going,” she captioned a post.

Reading

Kylie loves books and uses reading as a way to unwind. Here she is reading one. One Harvard study published in Social Science & Medicine found that people who read books regularly had a 20% lower risk of dying over the next 12 years compared with people who weren't readers or who read periodicals.

Her commitment to mastering techniques like snatches and leg day exercises shows her dedication to building strength, endurance, and power in the gym and the ring.

1. She Boxes

The boxing that Hansen is seen doing so in her Instagram video has a lot of benefits. Harvard Health states, “Fitness boxing is a great aerobic exercise. Aerobic exercise gets your heart pumping and helps lower the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. It can strengthen bones and muscles, burn more calories, and lift mood. Aerobics can also boost your endurance, which helps you climb a flight of stairs or walk farther.”

2. She Weight Trains

One type of exercise that Hansen likes to do is weight training. She shares a lot of videos on Instagram of herself using weights. Hansen shared these videos on her page of herself using a barbell and a kettlebell. (Forgive the form- that was my last set😂). Bicep curls x5. Bent over row x10. Overhead press x6 (3x). Movement 3: Whatever kettle bell exercise that was 😂”

3. She Works Her Lower Body

Hansen doesn’t skip leg day. She shared some of her go-to moves in this Instagram video. Piedmont recommends training your lower body. “Having strong glutes, quadriceps, hamstrings and calf muscles gives your body a strong foundation and can: Tone your lower body muscles. Boost your metabolism as you increase muscle mass. Give you a higher calorie burn as you train larger muscle groups. Improve your balance. Strengthen your bones. Reduce joint pain.”

4. She Does Core Workouts

Hansen makes sure to do core workouts to stay in shape. She shared some of her favorites in this Instagram post. In it, Hansen does things like plank slides and side planks while lifting a weight. “Cardio and Core today 🥵💪Little blast at the end was my fav. 30sec cardio (versus climber) x 30sec core (any) for 10 straight 🙌 try it out!”

5. She Does Snatches

One weight training exercise that Hansen enjoys doing is snatches. She shared this video of herself doing them on Instagram. Hansen captioned the post, “Today was an introduction to snatches for me 🙌 I think I found my new favorite 😂One thing about me is I am going to do it right. Becky Downie is a world-class gymnast with an incredible career spanning three Olympic Games (2008, 2016, and 2024). Known for her talent on the uneven bars, she earned a silver medal at the 2019 World Championships. Recently, Downie shared a series of photos on Instagram, posing confidently in black workout gear and white sneakers, with the playful caption, “It’s giving …. Brand with the 3 stripes 🖤.”

A seasoned athlete, Downie balances intense training, a disciplined diet, and self-care to stay at the top of her game. She’s also an advocate for positive change in gymnastics, speaking out on issues in the sport. Whether she’s in the gym or on the world stage, Downie’s resilience and dedication inspire fans and fellow athletes alike.

1. She Prepares Herself

Downie talked about her wellness secrets in an interview with Women Fitness. She says that she makes sure to prepare herself for competitions. “Having the experience of being an Olympian definitely helps me prepare mentally, and also, I know physically what I need to be ready for in terms of the competition preparation. It’s an incredible experience, but it can become overwhelming, so being able to understand when I need to take a step back is good.”

2. She Does Two Workouts A Day

Downie broke down her fitness routine in her Women Fitness interview. “My home training routine consists of two workouts a day,” she says. “My morning session included 30-40 minutes of cardio followed by 1-1.30hrs of body conditioning and rehabilitation. I then do another session later in the afternoon which includes more body conditioning, followed by more gymnastic skill specific drills.”

3. She Eats Healthy

Top,View,Of,Organic,Yogurt,Topped,With,Avocado,And,BlueberryShutterstock

Downie makes sure to eat a healthy diet. She shared her favorite foods in her Women Fitness interview. “Breakfast can range from eggs / vanilla & banana porridge / chicken sausages. Lunch is always a low sugar protein bar and fruit. I like to keep things light before flipping around in the gym. After training I always have a protein shake with skimmed milk and then once I’m home I have dinner which is usually some meat / fish, vegetables or salad and some rice or lentils. My top 5 foods I love and would always be in my diet….. grilled chicken, sushi, blue berries, avocado and bananas.”

4. She Takes Care Of Her Skin

Downie broke down her skincare routine to Women Fitness. “My two favourite brands are Carbon Theory and Glamglow. I use Carbon theory soap everyday morning and night and then use their cleanser or a glamglow moisturiser. I also love to use baby oil or body butter every evening after a hot bath. I avoid using body moisture before training as it makes me extra sweaty and it can make gripping difficult in training. Five skin boosters ….. Use a good facial wash / moisturise your face / wearing reduced makeup when training helps keep my skin fresher / A good body moisturiser to keep skin hydrated and for me to combat the chalky gym / Exfoliating body and facial wash is brilliant to use 2-3 times a week.”

5. She Spoke Out

Downie and her younger sister, Ellie, notably spoke out about certain treatment they received in the gymnastics world. She talked about this in an interview with The Guardian. "I have been told by a person of significant importance - in the national team environment - that a lot of coaches do not agree with what we've done. Maybe I did open my mouth a year too soon, I'm not sure. If this is the sacrifice [an Olympics] then this is the sacrifice, change needs to happen. I’m proud of what I did and I don’t regret it."

Water Skiing

Sydney has been water skiing since she was a toddler. “The moment I could walk, my mom put me on what’s called a U-board to learn how to ski,” she told Women’s Health. “I remember that whenever we would go by the docks of my grandma’s or my cousin’s house, I’d wave. I felt so cool because I could take off one hand. That’s my earliest memory of skiing, but I’ve been doing it as long as I can remember. It’s my favorite.” How does it help her achieve her amazing body? “It’s a lot of upper body strength, it’s balance, it’s core, it’s legs—you get tired really fast,” she says. “I see such a change in my body after an entire summer of [skiing]. My arms are stronger, more sculpted. My abs are rock solid. But I never look at it as a workout because it is so much fun,” she said.

Morning Workouts

Sydney mixes up her exercise routine, but likes to get workouts over with early in the day. “I like to work out in the morning, so I’ll either go for a run or I’ll go to Solidcore,” says Sydney. The high-intensity, low-impact Pilates-inspired workout “makes me feel so strong, but also elongated,” Sydney said about her sweat sessions. “I feel so good afterwards.”

Self-Care

Sydney engages in self-care activities. “I love to paint, and I love to read,” she said. “Those are the activities that are just for me.” One Harvard study published in Social Science & Medicine found that people who read books regularly had a 20% lower risk of dying over the next 12 years than those who weren't readers or who read periodicals.

She Walks and Hikes

One of the ways she treats her anxiety is by spending time outdoors with her dog, Tank. She takes him on walks or hikes. Going for a daily walk can be a game changer, especially at a brisk speed. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day reduced the risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia, and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.

According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Mariana recently got an aesthetic body treatment, Emsculpt NEO. “I’ve heard all the rage about the benefits to spot reducing fat & toning muscle so I had to give it a try to target those pesky lower abs. It was a 10/10 & a great addition to my workout routine,” she wrote.
