1. Protein for Weight Loss

"I don't really have a diet. I wing it by the seat of my pants," Priyanka told ELLE about her eating style. "It's such a girl thing to do, like if I feel, 'Ughh, I put on a few pounds' and I feel gross about [myself] I suddenly start eating salad, protein, and soup. Otherwise, if I am feeling like I am in great shape I am okay with cheeseburgers and pizza. So, when someone asks me about my diet I feel terrible saying that I don't really have one." Why should you consider amping up your protein to lose weight? Several clinical trials have found that consuming more protein than the recommended dietary allowance not only reduces body weight (BW), but also enhances body composition by decreasing fat mass while preserving fat-free mass (FFM) in both low-calorie and standard-calorie diets.

Priyanka maintains that "juices and water are very high” are a top priority. “In fact, water is a must for everyone, at least 10 glasses a day. I often overshoot that, but it does wonders to your skin,” she told Times of India. Water helps get rid of waste through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements, keeps your temperature normal, lubricates and cushions joints, and helps protect sensitive tissues, explains the Mayo Clinic.

Priyanka is a fan of the jump rope. “I love skipping. I learnt it really really well in school and then I learnt it even better during Mary Kom, so I try to get my cardio in my skipping. It's easy to carry, you have your skipping rope in your bag, it's easy to do,” Priyanka revealed in an interview. “Not only can the repetitive movement of skipping rope elevate your heart rate, work muscles in the arms and legs and burn calories, it may even provide a quick jolt of joy,” says Nike.

5. Self-Care

Priyanka is an advocate of self-care. "If you have the ability to look out for your well-being, you also have the ability to look out for your family and friend's well-being," she said. "If you are inherently happy inside and you're investing in yourself and taking care of your own self, that's truly what wellness means.”

1. She Prioritizes Cardio

Priyanka really makes time for occasional cardio, usually going between spin classes and treadmill sprinting, finishing with yoga to relax. She does do some workouts, but to be honest, she admits that it’s really not a huge priority and she has a lot to blame for good genes. "I have great Indian genes!" she said. "You know, I'm lazy. I want to take advantage of the fact that I have a great metabolism. When I start getting [bigger] I'll work on it! I like food, and I don't like the gym, and as long as I look like this without doing anything, why bother?"

"Also juices and water are very high on my intake list. In fact, water is a must for everyone, at least 10 glasses a day. I often overshoot that, but it does wonders to your skin." Priyanka openly admits she’s nothing like a gym rat. She claims she works out to stay fit, not for weight-loss. "I am not a gym-freak, but do work out regularly to keep the body well-toned. Preity stresses the importance of a healthy diet. “It doesn't matter how much U exercise if U cannot control ur diet. Losing weight is 70% diet & 30% exercise,” she once wrote on X. “Eat smaller portions of food and at least six to seven small meals,” she added in another, per India Today. “Avoid too much starch and carbohydrates like white bread, pasta and rice. Go for whole wheat or whole grains and brown bread.” Also, it’s how you eat that matters. “Eat slowly and chew a lot. Also sit down and enjoy your meal. Eating fast means eating a lot with very little satisfaction.”

Drinking Lots of Water

Hydration is a big part of overall health, says Preity. “Drink lots of water,” she wrote on Twitter. “Drink at least two glasses of water when you wake up.” Fruit juice is not part of her hydration strategy. “Fruit juices have too much sugar in them. Too much sugar and salt are terrible for you,” she said. The Mayo Clinic explains that hydration helps get rid of waste through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements, keeps your temperature normal, lubricates and cushions joints, and helps protect sensitive tissues.

Cheat Days for Diet Maintenance

Preity is an advocate of cheat days, claiming that they help her stay on track the rest of the time. “Eat whatever you want in one day so it's ur cheat day. This helps you to maintain your diet for the week,” she said on Twitter.

Pilates

Preity is also a fan of Pilates, which “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility resulting in improved overall health,” per Mayo Clinic. It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, relief from stress and back pain, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Dance Cardio

Preity is a fan of dancing. “Try dancing to your favorite song five times in a row...If you can bounce up and down five times in a row your cardio for the day is done,” she suggests. Dancing helps build strength and promote flexibility, and also may aid in weight loss and promote cardiovascular function. A 2016 study published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine determined that people who engaged in moderate-intensity dancing were 46 percent less likely to develop heart disease or die from it than non-dancers. In comparison, moderate-intensity walkers were just 25 percent less likely to suffer heart health issues.

Exercising in the Morning

Preity does fasted workouts. “Try exercising in the morning on an empty stomach. If you cannot do any exercise then at least go for a walk. Brisk walk is amazing for you,” she suggested. Science agrees. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day led to a reduced risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.

She Keeps Her Skincare Simple

Culpo shared her skincare routines with Byrdie. She says that she keeps her morning and night routine simple. “I am always trying out new products, so what I gravitate toward is often changing. At night, I usually use an oil and a serum. Right now, I love the Clarins Double Serum. In the morning, I use a Vitamin C serum and an SPF, and, typically, I just rinse my skin with warm water instead of using a cleanser. It is something I swear by—it allows for the oils on my skin from sleeping to absorb naturally.”

Culpo shared some of her favorite skincare products with Byrdie. She says that she uses ones that have vitamins in them. “I have noticed a huge difference in my skin with vitamin C and E. I love the Good Janes H2OMyGod Moisturizer—it's sort of an all-in-one moisturizer that has vitamin C and collagen peptides. As for vitamin E, I actually just purchase the oil from the drugstore. It is super cheap and great to put on any red marks I may get from an occasional breakout. The healing process is so much quicker when I am using Vitamin E oil.”

Culpo makes sure to eat healthy. She shared some of the snacks she packs with her with Travel + Leisure. "I love the Kind bars. I love any sort of nuts, to be honest with you. Then, I stopped eating after 7 p.m. Finally, I started really watching my portions so I was eating fewer calories every day. And water—lots and lots of water.”

Abigail is a fan of Pilates. “Group workout classes are so big right now, but I always get nervous around other people in settings like that. I have to go at my own pace without a bunch of distractions so, for me, Pilates with a one-on-one instructor works best. It’s not cheap, but then you also aren’t tempted to skip,” she said She added to Men’s Fitness via Muscle & Fitness that the workout “keeps you long and lean” — and the Mayo Clinic agrees. “I love green juices and smoothies. Sometimes I’ll put some protein powder in the morning—I feel like the mix of vegetables, and vitamins and stuff that’s in them, really gives me a lot of energy in the morning. I love BBQ food—my ultimate cheat is a pulled pork sandwich, sweet potato fries, and macaroni and cheese from this great place in LA,” she told Men’s Fitness.

Ratchford also lifts weights. “Initially, I made the mistake that a lot of girls do and I was only doing cardio. I just really didn’t see too much change in my body. I’ve been listening to my girlfriends who are in great shape and they say you have to do weight training, you have to go in and do squats. That’s my new thing—I’ve been doing some resistance training, circuit training,” she told Men’s Fitness.
